My profile
So Stu and I have been together 4 and a half years, we moved in with each other after only 2 months of being together and we have been inseperable ever since. This will be our first child.....ahhhhhh so excited. Here's the story so far......
I decided to come off my pill a few Months ago as I had been on it for years and wanted to give my body a break. Me and Stu were being careful but then one weekend went out with friends, we got really drunk and then conceived our little bundle of joy.
It was on the 7th May 2008 I discovered I was pregnant. I was working as a dancer at the time and felt exhausted all the time. When my period was 2 days late I knew something was up. I've always been very in tune with my body and my periods are never late. We were both very shocked when the test came back positive. I loved the idea of having a baby straight away but Stu took some time to get used to it. He couldn't speak for nearly two days as he was so shocked haha. I did a second test the next day to be sure and again it came back positive.
I had my first doctors appointment at the end of the week and he confirmed that I was 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I was so excited but also really scared of loosing it as I had become so excited about being a mum and didn't want it taken away from me.
I then saw the midwife a couple of weeks later and she gave me all the info etc and reffered me to a midwife in my hometown, which i then moved back to that weekend so we could be near family etc.
At around 9 weeks pregnant I started having severe pains in my lower right side, the pain was so bad I had to limp, and when i went for a wee i was doubled over in pain. I went straight to the hospital and there they took urine samples to check for infection and checked my blood pressure. Everything seemed fine but the nurse was concerned I could be having an ectopic pregnancy. I could of died with worry! I was booked in for an ultrasound the next morning, all me and Stu could do was wait anxiously. The next morning we arrived at the hospital and waited for our ultrasound. We first saw a nurse and she said not to worry, easy for her to say, she wasn't the one who could be loosing her baby! We then went in for the ultrasound. my heart was pounding. Because I was led down i couldn't see what was on the screen, i could only see the reaction in the womans face. After a few mins she turned the screen around so I could see and then said "can you see that flickering? thats your babys heartbeat......." "so it's not ectopic then?" i asked, she said it wasn't and that the baby looked absolutly fine. I can't tell you how relieved we were, my eyes welled up with happiness. I went back to the other nurse and she said I must be constipated and offered me an enema which i gladly accepted! We left the hospital with a gorgeous little pic of our baby, it felt so amazing walking out of there knowing i was going to be a mummy. I've always wanted a family of my own as i never see my dad and my mum and I don't get on. A few days later i was still in pain so went back to see the doctor, she assured me it was just ligament pain and to take paracetomel. No-one tells you about things like this before your pregnant! All you hear about is the normal things like morning sickness!
I next saw my midwife at 11 weeks and she booked me in for my 12 week dating scan. I couldn't wait to see our baby again! A week later we went for the scan and I couldn't believe how much it had grown in just 3 weeks (pics above). My younger sis came along too and still couldn't believe I had a baby inside of me. it was so sweet seeing it led back sucking it's thumb looking so relaxed. we decided after receiving our scan pics that we would tell the rest of our family and friends, now we knew that the baby was ok. Some of our friends and family we told at around 6 weeks as we couldn't keep it a secret any longer. I'm now dying to see my little one again as it's been 4 weeks since my last scan, and over 5 weeks since i last saw my midwife. My next appointment is on my birthday (this sun) and i'll get to hear the heartbeat...........yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Talk about best birthday pressie ever hehe. We've decided not to find out the sex until the baby is born as we want a suprise, I can't wait to see Stus face when it comes out, it's guna be the most amazing moment ever hehe.
I'll update all details on here to keep you all posted. Congratulations to all mums to be! we are so lucky to be having this amazing gift and experience!
