My husband Paul and I started trying to conceive around the beginning of September. We have two older daughters from a previous relationship, but wanted to have a baby together. I thought that it would be difficult to get pregnant seeing as how several doctors had told me so. My uterus was tilted, therefore, my husband's little guys would have a harder time getting in. I explained things to him, and asked him to be patient.

Soon after, we found out that I would need surgery. Nothing having to do with pregnancy. I had severe neck pain for a long time, and after several tests and doctors, was told that I had 2 herniated and 1 bulging cervical discs. My husband was very disappointed that we had to stop trying, put I tried to help him remember that surgery before pregnancy would make pregnancy alot more enjoyable for me. Not having to be in severe pain every day while ALSO carrying 35-50 lbs of additional weight...

October 23rd I had my pre-surgery testing which included a pregnancy test, and I was cleared for surgery.I had a 2 level cervical C-spine fusion on October 30th 2007. November 5th, my husband took me to the emergency room, I was taking alot of pain meds, and still in a lot of pain. The doctors took a urine sample to test my medication levels, and came back with some very surprising news. I was pregnant! We were in shock, as far as we knew we had been careful enough to avoid risking being pregnant during surgery. Needless to say, all pain meds stopped. Tylenol and Spine surgery do not really work lol

My doctors have all told me not to worry about the anathesia or the pain meds, too early to have done any damage. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first child together, and as far as I'm concerned, i got to have my cake (surgery) and eat it too!! Good luck to all the soon to be Mommies out there!!!

Congrats by the way, although I hate for for having your baby before me!!!! LOL! Not really, ur awesome! lol. I just want to be in damn labor. Ive tried EVERYTHING and nothing is freaking working! ARRRRRGGGG!!!!! I did castor oil with my 3rd baby at 36, 37 AND 38 weeks... all it did was burn my asshole! LOL! I will NEVER drink that shit again! Its horrible!!!! Glad it worked for you though! Im hoping the doc gives me good news today and Im gonna BEG him to do a membrane sweep! Oh HELL YEAH! Congrats again and all the best! I wanna see some pics soon!

I had a two lumbar fusions in the 90s as a teenager. I was extrememly scared with my first pg...as my doc had told me no epidural. But I made it :) With my second son the doc said I could have some sort of one time spinal numbing injection and boy do I want that again!! Good luck with your pg!!

Happy Easter! Can't wait to play the bunny next year!! Oh poor you on the moving...I hear ya...our bodies just can't do what they used to....something we have to get used to....My mom and I finished painting Cole's room this weekend and moving some more stuff over to the new apt. I'm so excited for the big move next weekend...HOw's unpacking going?
