Hi my name is Becky and I found out I was pregnant on November 23rd. Ten years after having our daughter we will now be adding a new addition to the family. It was a very big shock finding out I was pregnant, but I couldn't be happier. My due date is July 31st, 2008. A summer baby

21.8 hours ago Thank you! You gave me lots of good ideas. I always think big and make things way more complicated lol lylasmommy -
26.3 hours ago I told my doc that she wasnt very active so they did a stress test and Lyla decided that she would go CRAZY; I have never seen my stomach move like that! You should try it, I don't think they like it very much but it was so neat; she even got the hiccups during the test and I found out that she is just fine! I will be doing stress tests every week starting at 32 weeks. She did say not to worry, they do have their lazy days! ladybug403 -
Thursday, 15 May Hi,
It seems like my baby moves in spurts. He/she will be very active for a few days in a row, then take off a few days! I was nervous because I barely felt a thing on Friday and Saturday last week. Then by Sunday (Mother's Day) their were feet in my ribs, stomach stretching, and the feeling that I was being beat up from the inside out! I tell myself that my little one is growing and changing at a much faster pace than I am, and imagine how tired I feel! There is a lot going on for our little ones too! I wouldn't worry! lylasmommy -
Thursday, 15 May I have those days sometimes! I am actually having one today! I try not to worry too much about it, my doctor says they do have their lazy days! But I will be bringing it up at my doctors appointment today! :0) cosmomama -
Thursday, 15 May hey! I've been reading your posts. I have been emotional too, I think it just comes with the territory and the men in our lives just need to suck it up. They aren't in pain, or growing a life, so if all they have to do is comfort you when you cry or get mad, they have it easy! As for the lazy days, yes my baby is the same way. He is a very active baby in general. My kick counts don't take longer than 10 minutes every night and sometimes it's like there is an earthquake in my belly! But he does have days where he is a lot more sluggish than usual. Those days worry me, but I've been told several times that it is normal and they are people too, and we all have more energy some days than others. Are you doing your kick counts? As long as your baby kicks 10 times in 2 hours, it's ok. 10 times in 1 hour is better. My doctor says if he doesnt kick 10 times in 2 hours (after eating a meal) to call. But as long as he/she is giving you some movement, its ok if they get lazy! It must be SO exhausting floating around in the womb all day, after all. LOL billybump -
Thursday, 15 May Yes my little one is having a lazy day today, I get a little anxious so have to eat chocolate or drink some fizzy drink to make sure he/she is OK ha ha Still so para!!!! Natos -

Wednesday, 14 May When I was prego with my 3rd baby she was growing to the right and squishing my right kidney to pieces. One day I started peeing blood, first a little then it was straight red blood, no urine. Then blood clots. They kept me inhospital for a few nights and fed me tons of fluid so I would keep peeing. Eventually the blood stopped and never came back. But my kidney was always hurting, lower back pain, it sucked big time. And becuase of that I also suffered from a lot of bladder and UTI infections. They said the tube leading from my kidney to my bladder was widdened like I passed a stone, but I never felt a thing. So to this day we don't really know what was going on, but even with all that kidney pain, plus I was GBS +, PLUS there was TONS of meconium in my water when it broke, my baby was perfectly healthy and she didn't have to spend any time at all in the nicu. So don't worry too much about it, just do whatever your doctor tells you to do! :) nich-vegas-mommy2be -
Wednesday, 14 May about the protein, do you drink a lot of fluids? I know protein can show up if you are dehydrated, or if you take the urine test right after eating. kcazzy -
Wednesday, 14 May hi there i also had protein in my urine and had to do another test, my midwife said it was nothing to worry about as my blood pressure was normal and i had no swelling any where.Midwife also said to drink more water but not to go crazy. Its nice to know im not the only one feeling a bit worried about the protein thing and there are other people going through the same thing. ukdutypaid -
Wednesday, 14 May it might not be pregnancy related at all honey, i used to get blood in my pee all the time, and it was usually a urinary tract infection, but cus of the pregnancy they need to be more careful... good luck katznkt -
Wednesday, 14 May hey, I am 37+ weeks, and around week 30 I started to have protein in my urine as well. My blood pressure was fine, although I was swelling. In the end it turned out to be nothing, and they decided it ws just my body doing its thing. I still have some protein in my urine, but everything is proceeding normally. Good luck, and best of wishes! Beeccii -
Wednesday, 14 May Hey Becky. Im from week 25 and I just read your post. I am a nurse, and I work with a lot of nephrology patients. Sometimes when you are pregnant, kidney damage occurs b/c your body is taking on more fluids and your kidneys are having to work extra hard. It could be a sign of a serious kidney disease, OR it could just be dehydration or slight damage that will resolve after the baby is born. Try not to worry. Just take it easy. spi76 -
Wednesday, 14 May Hi becky
I was having the same problem at the beginning of my pregnancy and still have it. I had to see a kidney specialist and everything was ok. Also had a cyst. its when they put a telescope into your bladder to see if the bleeding weas coming from there everything ok. So I have protein in my urine and now they tell me for some people it is normal. GOOD LUCK dapie898 -
Wednesday, 14 May Hey! I wish i was 29weeks!! Anyway...don't worry too much yet...as long as your blood pressure is ok you should be fine. Make sure you are drinking lots of water. Sometimes protein shows up in your urine from an infection too so maybe that just has to pass. They will watch your urine to make sure your kidneys are working properly as probably check your liver enzymes because the liver doesn't work properly in preeclampsia. If you start showing more symptoms they will probably put you on bedrest and give you medication and you may have to deliver a few weeks early. Good luck and best wishes! Congrats on your pregnancy! pamallhoney -
Wednesday, 14 May Hi a momma from the twin forum told me to pick up protein strips from the pharmacy. (Not the glucose/ketone strips...although that might be included). I found that when I drink alot of water I don't have problems with protein. But I test on my own everyday. If I find protein, I drink water and lay down. It always clears up with lots of water. Oh and I also read that adding more protein to your diet helps too. I eat alot of protein for this twin pregnancy. amandajewels -
Wednesday, 14 May Hi Becky. I just found out today that I have traces of protien in my urine. I also have high blood pressure and swollen fingers/feet. My doctor says I may have toxemia but we wont know until my next prenatal appt. He says if the protien levels increase and my blood pressure increases then we'll have to take further steps. I've researched on toxemia and pre eclampsia through www.google.ca to reassure myself. momma2memphis -
Wednesday, 14 May My urine started showing traces of protein around 30 weeks too. The first time I went I had a trace and then the second time it showed 1+ I had to do the 24 hour urine test and have my blood drawn for the createrine clearance
My protein came back as being higher than normal (382) but I had no swelling, my bp was normal, the doctor told me that I to may have a problem with my kidneys he said that Nephritis (inflammation of one or both kidneys) is common and not very serious and that I may have developed that as a result of the strain on my kidneys from being pregnant, So again I had to do the 24 hour urine test and my doctor had me do a non stress test just to make sure the baby was okay, when I got the results from my 2nd urine test it showed that the protein is just a trace now,...I know how you feel!! I worried myself sick,...But the doctor now thinks that Im just one of those people who spill protein in late pregnancy,..So I bet thats the case with you too... praying4mybaby -
Wednesday, 14 May My firend had protein in her urine, and the doctors told her is was because her body was producing way too much of the protein, so they gave her a pill to take to subside the protein. Don't worry, as long as they caught it- things will be okay. goldcoast -
Wednesday, 14 May Hi Becky well I had protein in my urine, and I had blood pressure for my last three pregnancies.... and well they used to monitor me frequently with ultra sounds etc... to check on baby development needless to say I had 3 emergency c sections from 36 - 37 weeks.... Its more harm to you than bub in most cases.... but just follow DR's advice - I know nothing about these cranberry tablets and they sound like a disguise to me... It is a very serious problem so take care and take it easy... All the best to you and by the way my children are just gorgeous so don;'t worry! athome -
Wednesday, 14 May Hi Becky I had protein in my urine in every test with my DD ( first pregnancy) until I started taking cranberry tablets and within a week it completely disappeared. Not sure if it was a coincidence but i took it all the way through my following pregnancy and never had protein and I have taken it through this one and had the same result. So I believe it has helped. The protein can be an indicator for Pre eclampsia but can also be a number of other things including a mild case of thrush so dont worry too much. I was found to have Group B Strep in my first pregnancy and the midwives I have spoken to since have suggested this may have been the cause of the protein in the urine. Try the cranberry tablets and see if they help. blueiiz -
Wednesday, 14 May Protein showing up in the urine is usually because it is concentrated. Most women don't drink nearly enough water....especially when preggo. My midwife always tells me......half your weight in ounces plus one quart! ( another 32 oz.) If I do that.......the protein doesn't show up in my urine......if I don't, it does. Hope this helps some. :) Leave a message for becky468 in the right column where it reads `Add comment`
