40.7 hours ago When I had mines i didnt have to fast. They just told me not to eat anything sweet and sugary for breakfast. Its not as bad as some of the ladies made it sound so dont worry. Mines tasted like cheap kool aid. mamamanda -
42.5 hours ago if ur going in for the 1 hour test u dont need to fast. just cut out the sugars and most of the carbs the day or so before. it does suck though! then after u drink the stuff u cant even have water till they draw ure blood. if u have to go in for the 3 hr test, they tell u to fast though. thats what im facing! but hopefully all goes well for u! 45.1 hours ago no, I dont take anything for the morning sickness. I just get it out then I am fine the rest of the day... I took my 1 hour GD test 2 days ago, and got the call 2-1/2 hours ago, I failed....now I have to take the 3 hour test....:0( MrsKiwi -
Thursday, 24 July The place where I go does the glucose test twice--once at 16 weeks and again at 28 weeks. The first time I went in they never said anything about fasting beforehand, and I happened to have eaten a whole bowl of very sugary cereal for breakfast just an hour before! Test came back just fine, so I'd say unless they told you that you shouldn't eat beforehand, I wouldn't worry about it. surprsdmomi -
Thursday, 24 July i had my test yesterday and the only thing they told me was not to eat 2 hours prior to the time of your test, then you have to wait one hour after drinking the little concoction, so at the most you'll go 3 hours without eating. I know that is a lot but it really isn't that bad. redmum -
Thursday, 24 July i don't have morning sickness any more, but if i get too tired or hot i get really nauseated. my cousin had morning sickness the whole time for both of her pregnancies, you poor girls! fresh ginger tea helps me the most when i do get queasy or sick. good luck! suhana -
Thursday, 24 July Hey There,
Congratulation on ur pregnancy
I got my GD test done last week and in my case I didn't eat anything just sipped water . Mine was 1 hr test and I was told by my lab assitant to do so. In case of confusion you can ask ur doctor. Because I know many people for whom the doctor did not ask to fast.
Its always better to consult ur doctor.
Good luck!!!
Take care, MSUSpartan -
Thursday, 24 July The diabetes test isn't a fasting one. They want you to eat a meal and then go for the test 2 hours later. They say you should avoid sugar and carb foods that day. You drink the drink and then wait 1 hour to get your blood drawn. During that one hour you can't eat or drink anything. kalimommaof2 -
Thursday, 24 July HI!! The GD test is awful if you hate needles like me. You do not have to fast, but no sugar or fast food before you go. And plan on staying the whole hour, it effects the test if you move around to much....umm as for the morning sickness, I am in my 28th week, and I am still sick every morning. I was sick up until the day I had my first born, and I was a week late with her....urrrgghhh..... But it is all worth it in the end...lol Val :0) christina08baby -
Sunday, 20 July Hi, I wanted to give everyone an update on my work situation. I reported to work today at 8am my scheduled time and at 3pm 1 hr before my shift ends my boss came and called me into her office to sign the warning paperwork pertaining to the 3 days I called off in July 2 of which I had a medical excuse for. I told her that I refuse to sign the paperwork because I have medical documentation and 1 non medical excused call off is not considered excessive for 1 month. She told me I had to sign it anyway even if I did not agree and that I could write a comment on the paper and I said no, not without my legal councel rewiewing this document. I picked the paper off the table to look at It and she tried to snatch it from me stating that I was not allowed to have a copy unless I signed it. I still refused. She told me that I will be insubordinate but I still held my ground. I walked out of the office and resumed my duties until 4pm. I ultimately decided not to give in to this because I discussed this with my dad and sterpmother and they advised me that I do have rights even as a part time employee and that what they are trying to do is NOT legal. I also got alot of responses from all of you. So, I guess we'll find out what happens with me this week. Yes, I do need the money but I am not going to let anyone take my rights away, so thats why I decided to stand my ground. Oh yeah, they cancelled the zoo trip and she didn't even tell me to come to work and when I brought that up she got defensive and said she had already found coverage. Anyway, I hope everyones pregnancy is going well and I want to thank everyone who responded to my post needing advice.

Tuesday, 15 July I just wanted to give everyone an update: I talked with alot of you abot my terrible appt with my midwife ( she was real nasty to me) last Tues and that the u/s report stated that they weren't able to get a good look at my babys entire head, so of course I worried that something was wrong with my babys head. I had my u/s this morning and everything is good (his head is completely normal) I was worrying myself for no reason. Also, my midwife wasn't so nasty to me today; I mentioned to her about the sharp pains in my cervix and she told me not to worry unless I was having strong contraction like pains. She offered to check me but said that checking sometimes causes more problems and irritates the cervix, so I did not get checked. I only worry about preterm labor because I was dilated 1 1/2 cm and contracting at 22 weeks with my first son; I was given medication and Iv fliuds and the labor did not progress. Anyhow, now that my u/s has proven my baby to be healthy I can finally quit stressing. I was just told to take it easy and not overdue myself as far as walking and activities are concerned. Thank you for listening to my complaints.lol. I was just stressing about the head issue way too much. katie88 -
Monday, 7 July Hey! Im 20 weeks also and i have been looking into banking my babys cord blood.... unfortunally i have found that it is quite expensive.. the cheapest i have found is $1,200-$1,500 to actually bank the blood and then an additional $75 a month.. i am still in the process of looking for something cheaper but so far that is the best i can find.. and i dont think i am gonna be able to afford that even thought i want more than anything to be able to bank my babys blood... BUT i also found some information about people that could not afford to bank their babys cord blood they donate it... i would rather keep the cord blood BUT i have decided that if i cannot afford it, i am deffentally going to donate it so that hopefully someone will get some good out of it.. i think its REALLY sad that there is this great thing that could really help our babys in the future, BUT its so expensive that many people cannot afford to have it done.. BUT anyways, if i find anything cheaper i will be sure to let you know... but if you are like me and cannot afford that you may want to think about donating the cord blood.. i go this tuesday to find out the sex of my baby.. when i went to the doctor this past wednesday he said he THINKS its a boy.. but it wanted to wait until this tuesday when we were at hospital doing the BIG ultrasound to conferm because the untrasound machine at the hospital is better.... anyways, i hope that info about the cord blood was helpful! newbiemomtobe -

Monday, 30 June Let me know when you find out; what do you think your having? I was so anxious for 2 1/2 weeks waiting for my u/s. Actually I was anxious ever since I found out I was pregnant.lol. I feel him move all the time now and it is so awesome; I forgot what it felt like to have a little one move inside you.

Friday, 27 June Hi girls thank you everyone for your concern, I'm sure you read my comment this morning and heres the news.......I went to my u/s with my hubby, kids and bff and everything is ok, my cervix is closed and measuring 4.7 cm or whatever they calculate (which is in normal range), the baby weighs 12 oz ( a can of pop, lol), h/r 154 bpm and I am measuring 20 weeks 3 days, but my due date will remain the same. Heres the big news..........................ITS A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Omg he is so cute and we saw him swallowing the anmniotic fluid and he was kicking and moving all around. I was in tears and my husband was so proud! I got pictures and a mini video on a dvd that my hubby and I are going to look at later when he comes home from work. I am so excited! The u/s tech told me not to worry about the spotting since my cervix looks good. Also, we did not get the afp test as most of you know , but the u/s confirmed that the baby is healthy. Sorry to update everyone so late but I spent the day at my bff's house, but I'm home now. Thank you all for your concern; I had 15 messages waiting for me. Hugs..Christina ksr1170 -
Thursday, 26 June Hi there. I just read a post you left on my profile. I did get the comments about being a vegetarian during my first pregnancy. So far I haven't heard it this time. I've been a veg since I was 15 so this is who i am and i can't imagine eating meat. I just finished reading the book "Skinny Bitch". I didn't know it was pro-vegetarian. I just heard it was an interesting/funny book and it was. I'm off to my level II ultra sound today. I can't wait to see the baby! Best wishes to you! newbiemomtobe -
