This website is greeaat! I love hearing about everyones experiences and being able to share mine :)
My husband and I recently celebrated our 1 year anniversary. We have been together forever and have talked about how exciting it would be to get pregnant for a couple years now so you can imagine how excited we were when we found out (after our first try)! We don't care what we have but we cannot wait to find out. Some days we think it's a girl, some day's we think it's a boy, so we don't really have a clue. I think it's going to be a boy because I didn't have morning sickness at all. But, the heartbeat is 156 and I've been getting headaches and pimples lately, so maybe it's a girl??? This whole experience is so exciting everyday! March 16 can't come soon enough, we can't wait to meet our little baby!!!!!

10/14/07: Definatly felt the baby moving around today :) It felt like little flicks on the inside of my belly and it lasted about 1/2 hr. IT was so exciting. Rob can't feel it yet from outside but he was still just as excited :) WE find out in 2 wks (10/26) and it can't get here quick enough! If it is a boy the name will be Graham Patrick, if it's a girl Reese (possibly Reese Olivia?) . I have bedding pretty much picked out for either one, i swear all i do all day is browse the internet looking for baby things :) Oh and I totally have pregnancy brain. I completely forget things i'm doing right in the middle of doing them, or what i'm saying, lol.

10/28:
Wellll....we found out we're having a girl, or at least we're almost 100% sure!!! Sooo EXCITED! but will be more excited when it's verified. Our experience with our 20 wk scan was not all that great. the tech didn't explain anything to us while she did it or point out hands and feet or anything and I only got to see the screen for about a minute :( Is this normal? Also, nobody told us how much the baby weighs or how big it is? I'm pretty upset and I'm going to call and complain and see about getting it re-done...this is our first baby and it just wasn't as special and exciting as I think it should have been. Then to top it off, the tech barely even tried to tell us the sex and was nonchalant about it! When the doc came in he looked briefly and said he had a limited view but that he was almost 100% sure that it was a girl! We were both super excited about that. Also, did everyone else get pics of the feet or hands or whole baby? All we got was 2 profile shots (which are adorable, but we thought we would get more)..are we just being greedy?

11/12: Well, we had our 2nd u/s on Friday. My little sister (god-mother to be) and husband were with me and we had a much better experience!! I went to an u/s center with a perscription from my doctor and was able to see a monitor in front of me the whole time. The tech was much nicer and explained each organ/body part she was looking at and she gave us about 10 new pics, lol...much better than the 4 of the same exact thing we got last time. We got a hand shot and a picture of her feet which is super cute because her legs were crossed like a little lady so we can count all 10 toes. She was actually sleeping the whole time, but the tech did get a perfect shot to say we are 100% having a girl. Now we cannot wait to meet Reese Olivia Murray. She is 15oz and about 15cm and beautiful! At the end the tech woke up the baby and we got to watch her stretch on the screen which was soo precious. Then she did a little pose (one knee up/one down and her left arm extended over her lifted knee and her right arm bent behind her head) she looked like a little beach bum in there (which is fine with me because I <3 the beach!!). I am so excited to go buy all the frilly lacy girly things I can! Hoping to start on the nursery soon and planning to register this weekend (i just wish i looked more pregnant than i do because i feel like if im registering i should be very pregnant looking, lol).

Also, I am starting to write a little book about baby Reese Olivia. I am writing about everything from the day we found out to all the books we bought to learn about being pregnant, to all our appointments, and eventually the birth and anything I;m experiencing or feeling while being pregnant. I plan to try and write about her first year too, we will see (i sure wont have as much time on my hands then), but I just thought it would be so awesome to see what my mom thought and felt when she was pregnant with me and when i was born that I wanted to do it for her. I am planning to get a nice cover and have it bound and maybe put some pics in it too. Is anyone else working on a project like this? I will let you know how it turns out.

For anyone who is interested in having their BIRTH STORY PUBLISHED, please contact me. I am working with a publishing company to compile birth stories - kind of like the chicken soup for the soul books but for pregnant ladies. Everything is falling in place nicely right now. The categories include: First time births, delivery after #1, multiple births, c-section births, premature births, and complicated or high risk births-of course if there are any stories that don't fit in those categories, you can still contact me and we may still be able to use it. There is also a section comparing different birthing methods and styles, such as home birth, water birth, birth center, and hospital birth to help women decide which route is best for them. There will be some funny information on the bizzare ways women have induced labor (successful and not), as well as the top fears of pregnant women leading up to delivery. There are no doctors working on the book, but there will be some interviews and actual doctor insight as well. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and contact me if you're interested. Happy Pregnancy Everyone!!

SRM31 - Tuesday, 13 May
I slept with my 1st baby. It was literally the only way I could have gotten any sleep. I loved it and it made me less worried at night. Only thing is he kept night crawling into my bed until he was 6 ! Hes almost 15 now and seeing how fast it all goes by I dont regret a single moment of him in my bed! This one I snuggle then put back but she sleeps better that way , same w/ my other daughter. You do what works and what feels right for you.

The five S's are five different soothing techniques written about in the Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp. They are:
-swaddling (you keep the baby's arms tightly wrapped)
-sucking (a finger, a pacifier, a nipple, anything)
-shushing (really loudly - as loud as their cries, in the baby's ear)
-sideways/stomach position (hold the baby like a football)
-swinging (or jiggling or bouncing)

Apparently these are the five things that can set off a baby's soothing reflex. They really do work, but not once baby is already screaming - or at least that's what I've found).

We haven't had sex yet either. I really don't want to yet. I'm still sore and I'm afraid it will hurt. Sounds like you have a great exercise routine going though! I should try carrying Jacob I guess.

k-kaye - Thursday, 1 May
I just did since you said that. They're around $50, but I guess a christening outfit wouldn't be that cheap either...

k-kaye - Thursday, 1 May
I don't know...that depends on how classy you want to go. My family usually does hot trays of meatballs and spicy chicken or roast beef, along with rolls and cheese, so people can make sandwiches. Then also a couple side dishes like potato salad and bagged caesar salad. It's easy, I guess, I usually just show up at the parties, never really made my own! What kind of outfit is your baby going to wear? I'm not sure if I want to go with a traditional christening outfit or not. I really would like to find a cool white suit for Kaeden to wear. I think it would look really cute with his mohawk!

k-kaye - Thursday, 1 May
Hi. I already set the date for Kaeden's baptism. My brother, who lives in California, is going to be the godfather (I live in Philly) so it had to be done in advance. I'm really not sure if we're doing anything besides the church part. I picked a weekend in June because my bro is flying in for my grandmom's surprise 75 b-day party. So, I feel like everyone will be hung over and partied out by Sunday after the party Saturday night. Especially my 21 year old sister, who is the godmother. I hope she doesn't drop the baby in the basin of water! Haha. What are your plans?

lilash - Wednesday, 30 April
I here you, I wish I had the finances available to be home with him for his first year...he is too small and fragile to be separated from mommy for 9 hours a day...he is only 4 weeks now and I have 6 weeks left of him all to me and 6 weeks to find a solution I am comfortable with...we should start our own daycares out of our homes for money...

mom2boy - Wednesday, 30 April
My husband said Jamison smelled like cheese today LOL. It's the spit up I think.

srm31 - Wednesday, 30 April
I say hold that baby as much as she wants you to. She will end up more secure as she will know you will always be there for her therefore eventually needing less "comfort" at some point. I don't think we can spoil a baby so little. They lived inside us for 9 months , the least we can do is give them some adjusting /cuddle time. They're not even 2 months old yet. Maybe Grama just says that cuz she wants to hold her........lol

momoffive - Tuesday, 29 April
the more you pump the more you will make. And if you pump a lot at a certain part of the day your milk will let down at that time during the day. I ran to the store one day and my milk let down. When I got home my husband was giving Sam a bottle because he said he had started screaming about ten min before (right when my milk had let down) I thought it was amazing how well my body knew what he needed. If your little one is still seeming hungry after 4 oz then I'd start pumping longer, you may not get a lot more at first but will quickly increase supply.

MzMommy2B - Tuesday, 29 April
Very cool!! Yea, I'm in central Jersey. It was sooooo nice out last week, now look at it! Thurs and on should be nice and sunny though, hopefully!!!

mom2boy - Saturday, 26 April
LOL, I could not have put it better myself, hungover college student is the perfect analogy.

trishaj23 - Saturday, 26 April
i agree... i thought i might try emma on cereal soon. MIGHT. i'm kind of nervous about it. she is seven weeks old. I think i might try around eight weeks but i'm still not sure. i'm just not sure on how much ceral to put in her 4 oz bottle. do you have any idea? i bought the rice ceral but i'm just waiting til i'm comfortable with it. your right about the growing quick part! emma is already cooing and smiling! Reese is such a cute name!

mom2boy - Friday, 25 April
Ha ha ha oh yeah! Way harder and way more stressfull than I thought too. I was totally caught up in the romance of having a cute little bundle of joy. I didn't know I would be onry, scroungy, pood on, peed on, puked on, leaking, wining crazy wife lady who doesn't even shower every day anymore. LOL. I am starting to figure my baby out a bit though so that is promising. At first it was so scary I had NO idea what to do and I would have NO idea why he would cry or when he needed naps or food or bedtime but I am starting to understand him better which is a HUGE relief to see some progress. At first it was pure chaos and now it is only partial chaos. Ha ha ha.

mom2boy - Thursday, 24 April
I thought about getting one of those co sleeper beds but I also don't want him to become too dependant on sleeping in bed with us, I heard that is a hard habbit to break. I have also heard they will breath with you when they are close enough to sense you breathing. That is pretty cool. Maybe I will buy one of thos co sleepers just for the difficult nights. I just want what is best/safest for him and all you hear is co sleeping is bad blah blah blah but then I have read studies that show it can actually be beneficial. It is so hard being a Mommy.

Bri - Thursday, 24 April
You know what makes me laugh and sad at the same time. I will be raising my child with expectations and he WILL end up being better then most out there. Simply because we will teach him to try his hardest. He doesn't have to be the super genius and still be better because of what you just said...mediocracy. It does make me sad that we can't afford private school. I'm sure he would thrive in that environment, instead I have to do public school without tag, dodgeball and where everyone is a winner.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
Do a google search of it...pretty scary and serious illness in children.

startingoverat37 - Thursday, 24 April
We are home from the hospital. What a ordeal. Very very scary! She is doing much better. She could not be released until she could eat again, be completely off oxygen and not have to have the vacuum cleaning out the mucus from her nose. SO we have to use the bulb to squeeze out her nose, breastfeed as much as she wants, and keep a eye on her breathing to be sure she is not struggling. Its more like a terrible cold now with a cough and congestion. I feel like I can handle things now though. I will be so happy to sleep in a bed after 4 days in a hospital. I am going to sleep as well which a foriegn concept at the moment. Thanks for the concern.

ikmg80 - Thursday, 24 April
Yeah it is amazing lol well hope u feel better :)

navywifemomof3 - Wednesday, 23 April
Sleeping through the night would be a godsake! I couldn't be so lucky though..lol.

navywifemomof3 - Wednesday, 23 April
Thank you for your comment. I have been taking fenugreek and blessed thistle and didn't notice a difference. I am going to breastfeed him before or after I formula feed him until my milk dries up. I have been stressing over this for so long to the point I was getting depressed. It's been such a roller coast and as much as it kills me to say it, formula feeding would be such a relief. Thanks again for the advice! Hope you and your little one is doing great. Have a good evening.

ikmg80 - Tuesday, 22 April
Hi... I've had headaches the past couple of weeks!! Every single day.. Motrin alone doesn't help so what I do is tell my boyfriend or mom (or even bring him to my grandma's house so I can do this) to watch the baby for an hour then I take 2 Excedrins, dim/shut off the lights and just lay down with my eyes closed! It has helped and haven't had one since Sunday... hope it helps and you get better!
