Hi, my name is Jabez. I was born in Melbourne, Australia and left for fun and adventure when I was 22. I worked with the YMCA as a camp counsellor for a Summer in Kansas and then went to PSU to get a degree in Plastics Engineering. I then moved to Holland, Michigan after graduation with my 8 mo old daughter.
I had my daughter while in my senior year and only took 2.5 weeks off work and classes. That was probably the toughest thing I have ever done in my life and one of my most proud accomplishments! (You can read my blog about staying home to find out more details).

I met my husband Rob through my job. I actually interviewed him. Never in a million years would I have thought we'd ever date let alone marry! Anyway, on our way out to lunch, I slipped on the ice in the parking lot and fell on my butt. He and my coworker just laughed at me! We worked in the same group for a few years before ever dating. On our one year anniversary he proposed. On our two year anniversary we were married. Quickly followed by building a house and having our son Austin.

At our wedding, Rob also gave vows to Alexis, my daughter, and if you weren't crying by then, you boo hood when you saw his hands shaking so bad when he tried to put the necklace on her.

I have always been a sports nut and grew up playing basketball. When I moved to Michigan a friend asked me if I was interested in learning to play hockey. I had only ever seen one game before! I knew nothing. I had not even ice skated before. Only roller skated in the 5th grade! I thought I'd have to do something in order to make it through a winter in Michigan so I gave it a whirl. BEST THING EVER!!! I am a total hockey nut now. I picked it up pretty easily and am a decent player now. OH how I wish I could have played as a kid or played in college. Oh well. I am dying to get back on the ice after this baby makes her appearance.

Speaking of which, I have a baby girl in my tummy due Jan 23. It's killing me to wait that long and I hope I go just a little bit early. Not too early for complications but I'm already tired of being pregnat.
I love this site and it's really helped me get through this last pregnancy. I hope that one day I will meet some of the women I've become friends with and our babies get to meet too.
Peace to everyone!
Countdown from Christmas...
