Sunday, 4 May Hi, sorry so late responding. Asked my midwife about the two-tone leg/thighs on Tuesday. She wasn't concerned about it. Basically explained that there's no known accepted explanation (though there are lots of theories) for why women's skin darkens during pregnancy (the linea negra, mask of pregnancy, darkened nipples, etc) and while these are the three most common areas of darkening, it's not unusual for there to be darkened pigmentation in other parts of the body. That being said, she acknowledged that she'd never heard of another pregnant woman with this ankle to thigh line (and she's extremely experienced). She said as long as it wasn't itchy, breaking open in sores, irritating, etc, that I shouldn't worry about it.
Also, just the appointment before I'd had bloodwork done which was completely normal, and my leg line/darkening had started well in advance of when they drew my blood. So if it was thyroid/protein deficiency or something else like that, she would have been able to comment on that, but everything is normal.
My midwife also said that women who have darker skin (I'm kind of olive/tan coloured) are more prone to pigmentation changes during pregnancy and that it's possible that many fair skinned women have the same ankle/thigh line but don't notice because it's not dark enough to notice.
Hope this helps. I still think it's kind of weird, but I've been pretty lucky with this pregnancy so if all I have to 'suffer' is this two-tone leg/thigh darkening, then that's all right with me! Have you had any significant pregnancy problems that you think would be related to the darkened legs? E.g. sciatica, high blood pressure, or something like that? maimoona -
Monday, 28 April Hi, sounds like you have exactly what I have. Am seeing my midwife tomorrow and will let you know what she says. Have asked around and nobody has heard of this. Searched online for ages and found nothing like this either. Are your leg/thigh two tones even in colouring? And is it on both legs? Is it more prominent on your legs or back of thighs? mati -

Sunday, 16 Mar When you were talking about your night routine (waking up peeing, being thirsty) that is so me. I know I shouldn't have anything to drink because I will just pee more, but I get so thirsty! I even drink a ton of liquids during the day to prevent it, but so far nothing has worked! mati -

Tuesday, 15 Jan By the way- had my U/S today, and everything they could see did look good. The fibroids do get in the way of the sound waves, and they couldn't tell the gender! :( Everything looks good though, so I can't be too sad. nmck -
Tuesday, 15 Jan Hey- I have been feeling some slight movements for a couple of weeks. They were so slight I wasn't sure it was anything. Now it is starting to get more regular, but still feel faint, almost like a muscle spasm that only lasts for a second. I think there are tons of reasons for not feeling the baby. They are supposed to sleep 18 hours a day at this time. Maybe it moves slightly while you sleep. Also, placement of the placenta can block some of the movements too. Don't worry. I'm sure you are fine! mati -

Thursday, 3 Jan yay for the BLUE Team!!!! nmck -
Thursday, 3 Jan I ended up in the ER last night with fibroid pain. My big one was causing such pain in the upper abdomen I could hardly move. They prescribed tylenol with oxycodon, which I am not thrilled about. However, I can't live with that kind of pain ever time I make a move. The doc warned me about this, but I am surprised how early is is starting! mati -

Saturday, 29 Dec Hi...saw your post on someone's page. I too have a large fibroid that is the bane of my existance. I have been experiencing some pain and was told that my fibroid is inside the uterus (not the best case senario). It's 13cm and takes up the entire uterus. Poor little baby is buried behind it. How have you been feeling. I have been plagued with bleeding/spotting and cramping/heaviness for a few weeks. Praying it stops and the stupid roid shrinks (wishful, but possible). Hope you are doing well....keep us posted. angiemomo5 -
Thursday, 27 Dec I get those kind of pains off and on. Man they sure do hurt, but it is from the stretching. Sure is scary at first. Leave a message for bisbis in the right column where it reads `Add comment`
