Marvin and I were married on November 24th, 2007. We are enjoying married life to the fullest! We want to have children right away. Our timing was off last month. We were using an ovulation kit to pin point my fertile period. We got it right this month... We'll see in a couple of weeks if we have a bun in the oven. If not we'll try again next month.

January 23rd... I just got a visit from AF. Yuck! But we'll try again in next month. =)

February 6th... My fertile week... we're having fun trying! We'll know in a few weeks if we were successful. I can't wait for my first Valentine's Day with my Husband! =)

February 25th... 5 days late! Wondering if I'm pregnant... I'm going to the Doctor tomorrow for a blood test to know for sure if I'm pregnant. I hope I am, but we can always try again next month! After all... trying to get pregnant is the best part! =)

February27th... Well... Blood test was negative. AF came this morning. My DH has been wonderful! Looking forward to trying again next month! =)

April 17th... Of course I hope I'm pregnant this month! But I know it will happen when it's supposed to. I'm feeling great! I read on another website...

  • Nearly 50 percent of couples conceive during the first 3 months.
  • About 75 percent of couples conceive during the first 6 months.
  • Up to 90 percent of couples conceive during the first year.

June 24th... After another month of a weird period I went to the doctor again. She told me to come back if I had any more problems. She tested me for PCOS, Hormone levels, Liver and kidney function, Insulin levels, DHEA, Estradiol, FH/LSH, and Testosterone. Everything came back normal. I was worried that I might have PCOS, because my beautiful sister has it really bad. No signs of PCOS... WONDERFUL! The only thing she thought was a concern was my testosterone level was a little high. I'm going to see an endocronologist in a couple of weeks. The doctor said it's probably nothing, but she wants to be completely sure. She said with a healthy diet and exercise it will balance my hormones naturally. Losing weight would also help me to get pregnant. I feel great! Since I'm at at-home-wife, and I have extra time, I'm going to really increase my exercising. I need to take advantage of the time that I have. Wish me luck!

    - September 25th, 2008- Well it's been a while. I've gone through some tests and stuff to find out why I'm not pregnant yet. My PCP wanted me to see an endocronologist to talk about my elevated testostorone level. My doctor has concerns that I might have PCOS... I'm overweight and my sister has PCOS. I went to the Endo last Friday. She was AMAZING! I felt like she had all the time in the world for me. She told me, after we talked for a long time about my history, that I do have a mild case of PCOS. I thought that was weird. I never miss my period (there have been a few that were late, but they came), I ovulate, and all my blood tests are great. The Endo had me take the glucose test to see if my body could handle Metformin. I just got the results back today. She said my glucose levels are actually low. Too low to go on Metformin. So she suggested I go to my OB/Gyn to get started on clomid. I have an appointment on Tuesday. We'll see what he says! =)

  • October 2nd, 2008- I went to the OB/GYN on Tuesday to talk about, what is the next step??? So he told me my blood tests look great. And he has no problem starting me on clomid. First he wants me to be on birth control for 2 months, then as soon as my cycle starts on the 2nd month, STOP the pill and START clomid. He only wants to do the clomid for 3 to 4 months, after that he wants me to go to a specialist (that's if it doesn't work). He's hoping that it will work in the first month. Birth Control, along with 2 months of exercise and good healthy eating with increase our chances to like 75% or more! Woo Hoo! We shall see.... =)

They had you do a 1 hour GTT which is a fasting blood draw drink 50 grams of sugar then wait 1 hour and do another blood draw. This test is for the pregnant patient. For a regular adult challenging the diabetes test it should have been a blood draw before the drink, 75 grams of sugar wait an hour another blood draw, wait another hour and a 3rd blood draw. There is nothing wrong with your insulin levels they are normal and should have been fine for taking metformin. I am not a Dr. but do work for a Dr. and perswonally deal with the blood since I am a phlebotomist so I see all the results. If I was you I would go for a 2nd opinion plus it doesn't sound like you have PCOS.

If there hasn't been an ultrasound and your labs have all came back normal I would question why you are being diagnosed with PCOS. When it comes to PCOS & they look at your ovaries during the ultrasound a lot of time (not always) there will be little bumps or cysts. The reason why is because when you are to ovulate they don't actually get released instead they cause these little bumps. Also another sign of PCOS is abnormal hair growth on the face because of the hormones being out of wack. what were ur insulin levels? Hope I have helped some. eMedicine.com has some really good info on PCOS. http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic2173.htm check out this page

What made them diagnosis you with PCOS? If your periods are fine, insulin levels are low? PCOS is not a diagnosis for infertility reasons. Did they do an ultrasound?

I have taken metformin off and on for about 4 years. The Dr. will usually have you start out taking 1 pill and gradually increase of the month since it can cause some side affects. (usually diarhea) It should also help you to lose some weight. I also had to take the same drink but the reason I was told is because having PCOS makes you more acceptable to having diabetes because you are insulin resistance. Which is why also the encouragement to lose the weight. I also had to take provera to have my period then take the clomid, also have hypothyroidism so I have to take synthroid. I felt I was taking so many meds at the time is really bad but I was checking my liver (I work for a lab which made that easy). I didn't have any major side affects but it also didn't get me pregnant. I had to go to the next step whils still taking all of those meds I ended up having to do a HCG shot 1 1/2 days before doing my artificial insemination. Did 2 of those procedures and the 2nd one worked. Also had done a HSG. Have you done that one yet? You do it at the hospital where they insert iodine into your tubes to make sure they are clear. It is a painful procedure but woth it if you get pregnant. Sorry so long. Hope I have helped some

Hi, PCOS runs in my family too, my sister also has it and it took her 15 yrs to fall. I wont lie to you metformin isnt the nicest drug to take. It made me sick and gave me an upset stomach. the key is to up your dosage slowly so it may take a couple of months to get to your full dosage. a low GI diet is also good as it controls your insulin levels. I lost weight on metformin although i didnt need to as it does suppress your appetite. i was told not to go on clomid as there is a higher chance of multiple pregnancy and if you have pcos you have a higer risk of misscarriage. Metformin might not be the nicest drug in the world but it does work wonders xxx

    pepper27 - Tuesday, 23 September
oh...and my doc always stresses the importance of exercising too...he said it is one of the best things that women with pcos can do.

    pepper27 - Tuesday, 23 September
Your doctor is giving you great advice...hopefully the metformin will help too. What is the dosage? Ok...well my dr. said that I would experience the worse possible fatigue possible for the first 4-6 weeks when I started taking it, but I didn't really notice a difference. He was actually quite surprised. I guess I tell you that, just so you can be ready if it causes that reaction in you, but it might not necessarily happen. He said it would take about 6 months before it really started to do what it was supposed to do. I actually did clomid before I took Metformin and it never really worked for me...but I never took it with Metformin, it just happened to work for us by itself. We were SO shocked! They will probably be checking your blood levels a lot, perhaps each month to see if it caused ovulation. There is a girl on here (I think she is one of the few people in my "network") who got pregnant the natural way...you might check her profile out too. Oh...I started out taking one pill in the morning and 2 and night, but I always forgot the one in the morning and ended up taking 3 at night...so my doc switched me to the extended release kind and I just take all 3 in the evening now. Not sure if that made a difference or not. I believe it is 1500 mg. Sorry...long post...but please ask if you have any more questions. I love being able to help women with pcos! Good luck...keep me updated!

    That is so true:)
Camping was fun, we were there for 4 nights and had a really good time. We used to use a tent and that was a ton of fun too, but we figured since we camp so much living here in Utah surrounded by mountains it would be fun to get a trailer too:) Plus we got snowed on 1 too many times camping in the spring or the fall. Ahhhh Im so miserable I woke up with terrible cramps today and its my 1st day back to work of course! grrr! Notice on my likl chart on my page the period started like 4 days early...I dont get it!

P.s. Just went camping in Park City, you may have heard of that town from the Sundance Film Festivals...all the stars come here for that:) It was fun.

I LOVE your positive attitude about your negative, I know its hard but it WILL happen when its supposed to:) yeah im excited to start using that monitor with the next cycle, should be interesting and I hope it works.
I havent tried the new medicine, I just hate taking anything unless its natural especially when TTC. I guess if it gets worse I may have to resort to that, so well see. I have another appointment in 2 weeks.
Im so glad you had a nice vacation I will have to check out your blog when i get home from work since they block certain sites from here. Tomorrow is finally my friday:)
We are leaving on Wednesday to go camping for 4 nights with my family. My hubby and I bought a brand new trailer last year so its super fun when we go. It will be nice to get away again:)

    Talk to you soon:) ~Staci

Hey how are you, did you re-test???!!

wow that would be awesome if you could potentially move back to Florida, the weather there is amazing!
I work for a medical lab called ARUP Laboratories, today is actually my 10 year anniversary at my job, wow time flys! Its a medical lab that does testing for hospitals around the entire country, anything from aids, cancer, drugs, any medical testing you can think of. We are owned by the University of Utah. Tomorrow is my last day off and its back to work time for me...on Tueday. I think one road block is that i keep ovulating on my week on when im stressed from the work week....

I went to the doctors this week for the swelling and they want to try a new anti-inflamatory and are refering me to another doc to take a look at my nerves to make sure something is not pinched that could be causing the swelling. well see.....

Yes thank goodness for sweet hubbys here by our side.

    Baby dust to you too:)

    stacky - Tuesday, 29 July
Dang negative! Im sorry! Well I hope your yearly visit brings you some answers OR that everything just works its way out naturally. Wow I would have loved to have grown up in Florida, we are going there for 8 days in January to Orlando with my brother and his wife. Should be fun, I hope its still warm enough that time of year to swim and go to coccoa beach:)We also went to Ft. Lauderdale for our honeymoon:)

San Fransisco is a beutifull city with so much history but its also very dirty too...lots of fun though and awesome food!

Well the rheumatologist still isint sure what I have, I get re-occuring swelling in my hands and sholders a couple times a month. I got really sick with like flu like symptoms in 06 and have not felt the same since, they are still trying to figure out the swelling...the sickness altered my immune system thats why all the allergies kicked in too. I have more appointments with them this wednesday so that will be good... and today is my friday...I work 7 days on and get 7 days off! woo hoo. My hubby is in Ohio on buisness though, so its just me all week.

My husband is like yours go with the flow but after 4 years of trying almost...he is also frustrated. Its been hard.

baby dust and I hope you dont get a visit by the period anytime soon!

P.s. my first name is Staci

    stacky - Monday, 28 July
Hey Lady, I hope your hubby is feeling better! WOW so you are having symptoms! I pray it gives you a positive tomorrow when you test, keep me updated! FUN... Daytona Beach sounds awesome! When do you guys leave?
Yeah I heard that cancers are moody, LOL! That I definitly am!
I have been feeling okay, sill having inflamation issues from whatever I was sick with 2 years ago, that same thing triggered the food allergies also. BUT at least I am feeling better than last year before they caught what was wrong. Still seeing doctors (rheumatologist) though hoping they will make me feel better some day. So my period finally started on Thursday after it was like 12 days late...boo! I will just have to keep trying this month.

We did go out of town last week, to San Fransisco, its where I used to live. It was fun but not relaxing...we were so busy seeing all my friends...and my husband had to do some work there. It was good to get away though and to see the beach:)
Wow a 50 day cycle...would be horrible! I wonder if she should look into bio-identical progesterone, it's the same progesterone your body makes so its natural but it helps you get your cycle on track. My naturopath has me on it, it also helps get rid of endo since estrogen dominance fuels endo.

Work is very stressfull, we have several end of year deadlines to meet and only 5 months to make them...this is not helping me conceive i'm sure but I have to bring home the big bucks:) Just got a heafty raise though so thats good!

Let me know what your test reads tomorrow, pray pray pray! BABY DUST!
