Monday, 16 November Hey! I just wanted to share this link with everyone. http://angel.jcpenney.com/ It's for the salvation army's giving tree. It's a really fun way to help out a little sweetie. You can pick the age and sex of the child that you want to help and then just buy them a few things for Christmas. It makes such a difference for those parents who just don't have the ability to buy this year. I can't imagine not having anything to give to that sweet little face . . . So, if anyone has the ability this year, have fun being Santa! emilydana7 -

Saturday, 14 November Hey I wrote a new blog let me know what you think:) collsbaby -
Wednesday, 11 November I posted this as a blog too. I get credits on my thing if someone uses my code and as a SAHM I'm trying to do whatever I can to save a buck haha! Sorry if you already read it.
Hey ladies, I just ordered some stuff on diapers.com for the first time. My cousin said she liked it because it comes the next day usually and they take discounts and you can get bigger boxes of the hard to find diapers like Seventh Generation and other 'green diapers', so I thought I'd check it out. I got some other stuff too and saved almost $16.00 in coupons and discounts! I couldn't believe it. They have a sale going on now (but it ends Nov 12-tomorrow), but there's free shipping (next day) and a lot of coupons and stuff for Huggies and Pampers and other brands. Anyway, I signed up for their referral program, so if you are a first time customer and you type in my code you get an extra $10.00 off! That is what I just did, I used another person's code and I got $10.00 off. I found the 7th Gen diapers in bulk there, I can only find bags of like 26 in the stores, but there they have boxes of over 100. Anyway, just wanted to pass it along since the sale ends tomorrow, but you can use my code whenever and still get $10.00 off if you are a first time customer. When you check out in the promos & referrals section type in: COLLSBABY
The site offers a first time customer discount too, but it's only $5.00, so I wanted to be sure to share this with everyone. $5 bucks is $5 bucks!! ;-) mmyof3angels -

Tuesday, 10 November OH no! That's terrible! Yes, research shows they need physical contact. I kangerooed with Ian a couple times a day starting at day 3, I think, just in little increments as they recommended. Their nervous systems are not fully developed, so they do need to be left alone a great deal, which seems counterintuitive, I know. The first time I touched Ian I gently stroked his head and I got a big "Don't Do That" from the nurse...how would I know? They do tend to see the babies as "theirs", but good nurses know it's best for their patient to have mom and dad as involved as possible. I was able to intercept a bottle of formula they were preparing to give Ian without consulting with me first. I told them I preferred him to have donated breast milk until mine came in, but they said I was a very rare person who wanted their baby to have donated breast milk, so I guess they just get used to parents wanting them to supplement with formula and they didn't think to ask. If she is breastfeeding, tell your sister to involve the lactation consultant. They are great advocates for everything, not just breast feeding issues. If she is formula feeding, I suggest she ask the doctor to give her the low down on what she should/should not be doing regarding touch and then ask to have it written in the chart. Also, we noticed that Ian was viewed differently from some of the micro preemies...Late preemies and big babies in general, they just don't have as many needs as the other, more fragile infants, so they don't always get the same amount of thought. Just our observation. I remember feeling like they thought we were silly for worrying about Ian because he was so big and had few complications associated with prematurity, but it was so scary for us...I tried to keep in mind that many preemies are born to moms who do not have the greatest parenting abilities and they might become jaded over time. Also, lots of their patients die (usually the really little ones, don't want to alarm you!), and with any type of medicine where docs and nurses are dealing with death on a more frequent basis, they can become a little hardened. mayasmommy -
Tuesday, 10 November Congrats on your new little nephew. NICU can be scary and stressful for parents, but I'm sure he'll do great. Ian was only there 11 days at 32 weeks. How much did baby weigh? mmyof3angels -

Monday, 9 November Question for you lovely mommies :)
So for the last week and half approx, about 10pm on the dot, I was alwaysssss feeling little Karleigh move. It was kinda my winding down time, and she would get active...well this past week, I dont know if it is because my schedule, stress and sick level have been up or what, but I havent felt her move as much at night...its more random throughout the day..I dont know if she has her back to my front now which is why, etc.
Any ideas? Should I mention this to my doctor?
P.S. I have a doppler at home and I have heard her heartbeat everynight.....
Thank you! :)

Wednesday, 4 November That is so great! I am happy to hear it is helping a bit. It was really a life saver for us. Like I said, that man knows how to quiet a crying baby!
We did the blowdryer to and, whitenoise machine, a heating pad in her crib to warm things up before we laid her down, putting a hot water bottle beside her you name it, lol. Shayla was used to being swaddled though and I did it very tight. Tighter than what seemed comfortable, but she was ok with it once I was done. It made it easy to handle her, lol. I stopped swaddling at around 3 months and her fussiness for the most part stopped around 2 mths. We were having so many issues with BF I was scared to offer her a soother until 6 weeks and she never really took to it by then. In retrospect, that girl loved to eat and suckle so chances are pretty good there would have been no nipple confusion. I would definitely do it earlier next time, especially for a baby that likes to suckle so much. I was the human pacifier. And now she likes to suck her thumb. I would rather be dealing with getting rid of a paci.
Oh well.I still haven’t gotten around to picking up his book Happiest Toddler on the Block probably because I am not having any real big problems with her. The pinching stage is over, thankfully. But, it is probably not wise to wait for the next challenge, lol.
I know that sucks about the debit card. My husband feels so violated, lol.We have since found out 4 more of our friends have been affected. One lives pay check to pay check so it is quite a burden for her to wait. Another they actually took money off his line of credit as well!It is amazing to me that they can get to a business’s hand held keypad and switch it. That is how they are doing it. It is just plugged in with 1 wire and a phone line so they switch the device entirely. I logged onto the Police Services website to check out the info on it and although they will not release the names of the business to protect them, they did have confirmation of an inadvertent mention that one of the businesses was a McDonald’s. The location offered free coffee to their customers for a day as an “apology”. We know where ours was compromised because we don’t use it often, but our friends don’t have a clue. The police service is advising businesses to frequently verify that the serial number on their hand held matches their records. I hope more businesses are faithfully doing that.
