I had a c-section and bled a somewhat lightly for probably five weeks and then at my six week appointment I noticed that I was bleeding again and my obgyn said that it's perfectly normal. Try to take it easy and if you're bleeding a lot, like a lot more than your normal period you might want to be checked out because you could be hemmoraging(sp?)

i fyou have been over doing it you can start your bleeding again.. three weeks seems to early to have a period, i think you prob just over exerted yourself or something i wouldnt worry unless you get any discharge with it or a tummy ache..xxxx

My son is lactose intolerent too. This just means I avoid ALL dairy products. It is so hard but it's worth it. He had bad diarrhea and as soon as I stopped eating/drinking dairy it stopped. I am now trying to work it back into his system again and it looks like it is working. I don't think your baby is alergic to your milk but maybe something you are eating. Try cutting dairy first. That is usually the worst offender.

she might have a little bit of reflux. my son did great on breastmilk until he was between 3-5weeks old and then he too started spitting up. its more or less a laundry issue. try to burp her more frequently and prop her at a 45 degree angle after eating for at least 30 minutes. as they grow, it gets better but their esophugus is so short. make sure she is bending at the hips not the stomach when you sit her upright. hope that helps!

hi, when i tried milk i noticed that my baby girl had red spots on her face and she is very fussy, so i drink buttermilk instead, works better.

I read your comment about your baby maybe having a milk intolerance or allergy. My older son was very allergic to dairy. My younger son just was a bit intolerant of dairy when he was 0 to about 5 mo old. My baby was just a little extra gassy and generally uncomfortable. My older son would have the gassy and uncomfortable but would also vomit regularly he was always so sickly. It was awful. I had to stop bf b/c i cut out all the stuff i knew was dairy and it didn't help. It wasn't until later that i found out that he was so allergic he couldn't have whey or cassinate either, which are just small particles of dairy. The best and really the only way to tell if that is what is bothering your baby is to give it up for 2 -4 weeks and see if it helps. It will take at least that long to make sure that all of the past dairy is out of thier system and to see the real after effects. Good Luck. It is hard not hving dairy. I use to drink almost a gallon of milk a day. Now i drink only soy milk and limit that to 1 cup a day in my cereal. I have goat cheese in my salds, etc. Good Luck!

Hey! it sucks to hear them cry when they are this little. Do you swaddle her before you put her down? Michael sleeps in his bed at night, but often comes back to bed with me once it is daylight. He falls asleep on me at night and in the day, and I wrap him snuggly before I put him down. he seems to really like it. Good luck!

We have a boppy pillow for nursing that we bought at Wal-Mart for $20 dollars and we love it. It has a feature with a strap that lets us just put her in it and sleep also. It is the best for breastfeeding. We have taken it and put it in her bassinett at night with a heating pad on low and it she sleeps really well. Just putting her in her bassinett doesn't work because she likes to be snuggled in there. This really cuddles her in it and it works so well. It might really help you out. It makes them feel comforted and cozy I think.

I used breastshields for probably the first couple weeks off and on just to get me through the rough parts. Then I finally bit the bullet after my nipples had recovered a little and just became dedicated to nursing without them. I was told that they can affect your milk production but pumping has the same effect and I would think that actually having the baby nursing with a breastshield would be a little less confusing than bottle feeding. Do whatever it is that makes the most sense for you and your baby and if she does get nipple confused you can work to fix that after you get everything else under control.

hi! i was in the same situation as you are, what i did i bought a pump (lansinoh) and pumped half of the time, i was able to give some rest to my nipples and she was getting the nutrients from my milk thru a bottle, also when you have ur letdown it can be hard for the baby to latch, so u can use the pump in those cases aswell...hang in there i promise the pain will go away in 10 days or so...

snowwhite5thbabe - Wednesday, 28 May
Hi! The nurse at the hospital told me to use the football hold(second black and white picture on the breastfeeding page), since baby couldn't latch right. Works great! Also, changing BFpositions can help give the sore side of your nipples a break.
Also, make sure you are puting some of the area behind your nipple into her mouth. That's what she needs to press on to get milk, and it doesn't get as sore then...

Hi - BF was really painful for me for about 5 weeks. I almost gave up. Then, miraculously, it just stopped hurting. I think my nipples toughened up or something. Lactation consultants said my daughter's latch was correct, but it still hurt. Maybe the nipple shields everyone is talking about would have helped but I don't know. Anyway, I'm at 12 weeks now and BF is going great and I'm glad I didn't give it up. Best of luck and try to hang in there!!

littlecavalier - Tuesday, 27 May
Definitely go to babies 'r us, target, walmart etc and buy a couple nipple shields. There are instructions on the package. You turn them almost all the way inside out and then put it over your nipple and it will help to pull your nipple out so it's easier for baby to latch on. Then just let her suck right on the nipple shield and she should be able to get milk that way. I had to do this for a good couple weeks until we both figured out what we were doing.

brandymomof2 - Tuesday, 27 May
you may want to talk to your lactation consultant and have her show you nipple shields and cake those nipples with cream it will help with the cracking
