Yeah! 20 weeks, half way there, this is my first baby and I am enjoying every minute of this miracle!!

Well it's Dec 10th, I have a Doctor Appt. today @ 11:15, I can't wait, it has been 6 weeks since my last apt. because I am in between doctor's right now, I get to meet my new one today, I hope he is better than the last one.

I am looking forward to hearing the heartbeat !!!!

12/11/07 - Well, my Doctor visit went very well, I love my new doctor, he is great!! I also learned I have an anterior attached placenta, that is why I have not felt any movements, I feel so much better! I am measuring normal everywhere else!!

Well, I am almost 26 weeks, My Husband and I finally got the nursery done, I love it, it looks a little drab in the pictures but I swear it is so much cuter in person. I have a doc appt on Tuesday the 8th. I don `t think it will be a very eventful one, just the usual. I am going to ask if there will be another ultrasound, I keep hearing about people that where told they were having one sex only to discover they were having the opposite, I could pay for another ultrasound but they start at around 150 dollars, which I am trying to save everything I can for maternity leave right now. I can `t complain too much about being pregnant except for the heartburn that is always with me now, I `m sure it is only going to get worse and this is the easy part so I am trying not to dwell too much on it. We bought a much needed new couch so my Husband and I have decided I will continue to work my second job until we can pay it off and then I can quite, I can `t wait. It is getting so hard to get out of bed in the morning and the exhaustion is setting in once again.

Wednesday, 9 Jan

Well, I had my 26 weeks Doctor appt yesterday, all is well I am measuring exactly 26 centimeters and Maddie had a heart rate of 140 BPM. I am a little sad to say I have gained 9 pounds in the last month, I am now totalling 35 pounds of weight gain already, AHHHHHHH!!!! I guess I new this was gonna happen, no woman in my family has ever had a baby without gaining at least 50 pounds, it sure as hell doesn `t make it any easier though, I guess I `ll just have to work my ass of after this pregnancy to get rid of the weight, literally. I go back in two weeks for my GD test, got the yucky drink yesterday, after that I start the bi-weekly appt. `s. My doctor informed me that I will not be getting another ultasound unless there is a problem, I think this sucks because I was really hoping that I would get one more confirmation of girl before I went crazy buying stuff. I just can `t spend the money to get a private one done, to many other things to worry about.

Infacol is a type of gas drop. I get them at Wal-mart. They are like $9 and they really seem to work for her. It makes her fart. Not that you really wanted to know. If there is a regular time you know baby acts up give them the infacol right before then and then feed them and it works like magic. Makenna normally sleeps from 9-8 after having it. Good luck and let me know how it works.

that is too cute! how are things with her?

beautifulbebe - Thursday, 3 July
Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are having a tough time with your baby! All I can say is that as soon as I notice that my baby gets fussy, I make him take a nap. That really works! I think that if babies are fussy, they may be overstimulated. Alternatively, they may have belly aches. When my baby gets that (at 3 to 5 at night, anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes) I walk around with him, rocking him. I have him on my arms, his face towards the floor or on a 45% angle, on of my hands on his belly. He likes it, it calms him, and he does his elimination. I know that it is hands on and at times it gets a bit much for me too and my baby does not even cry excessively. So, I symphathize with you! I hope things will improve soon!

Hi from the 4 month page! Don't worry it will get better! Isaac was colicky until about 2.5 months, and then he turned into this wonderful happy baby. I can see from the other posts that everyone has covered the main issues, especially the Happiest Baby on the Block, and the 90 minute rule. Napping is key! Isaac still has three naps a day that are 30-45 mins minimum. Good luck!

it will get better! I had a CRABBY Abby, in the last week things are turning around, she wiil go in her swing without crying, even on the floor. She still loves being with mommy and daddy! She still wont sleep in her crib, but its something to work on(Baby steps). I found that when she started to put on weight she seemed more happy. I know how hard it is to have a bad day(s). Keep up the good work it wont last long, Just hold her and give her what she want's because this time goes so fast. I did read the hapiest baby on the block and it helped. You Understand why they are crying.xoxoxo

So as soon as Madeline wakes, check the clock and an hour and a half from that time, she should show signs of being tired. If she doesn't show ANY signs and doesn't seem to want to fall asleep then perhaps she is able to stay up for 3 hours straight, but the book says at that young of an age, it is unlikely. www.pollymoore.com there is a website that answers questions.

Hey There! I saw your post and just thought I would let you know that 2 books I found to be very helpful are: The Happiest Baby on the Block By Harvey Karp and The 90 Minute Baby Sleep Program By Polly Moore This book says that a baby's wake period is only 90 minutes long from the time they wake and then they hit a sleep cylce. If you miss their cues and signs of their sleep cycle, they will enter back into another wake period, which means it will be another 90 minutes before they are ready to go to sleep again. Ex- If your baby wakes at 7am, at around 8 :30 or a little before, she will start to show signs of being tired and will need to be soothed to sleep. As babies get older, their wake period will extend from 90 minutes to 180 minutes, which is 2 consecutive 90 minutes cycles. Older babies will extend even more to about 3 consecutive 90 minute cycles, 4 1/2 hrs. However, babies usually aren't ready to stay awake longer then 90 minutes until 4 months old. I have been following this book and boy has it helped my son!

Hey I just read your post. I am sorry to hear about the cranky baby. Have you tried giving her Infacol before feedings or gripe water? I had to give Makenna infacol before each feeding for a while cause of what I was eating. Your baby could also have colic. Try running the vaccum, playing music loudly, putting her in the swing. Or if worse comes to worse go for a drive. Hope this helps.

sonya75 - Wednesday, 2 July
Hang in there! It is pretty typical for babies to become colicky at around 2 months. Mine only was like that for 3 weeks, then she got much better. Now, she's as sweet as can be. My son, on the other hand, when he was a baby had colic for around 2 1/2 to 3 months. A very long time to deal with it. I noticed that they both loved loud white noise. I found that vacumming often would calm them down. If you have an infant carrier, try carrying your baby in that while vacumming a litte. Always worked for me.
Also, I see some other moms mentioned reflux. Both of my kids have/had it. Couldn't hurt to make sure that's not causing some of the crying.
Good luck!

LeahG - Wednesday, 2 July
She may have colic, but my son didn't have it so I can't really say. My son has silent reflux that causes him to want to constantly be held & he will only sleep in my arms or his swing. I was also reading the other day about the term high-need baby that I thought was really interesting. The Dr. Sears website has a lot of info you can look up. He is called "America's Pediatrician" & is very well respected. Look him up at www.askdrsears.com & check out colic & high need babies to see if this sounds like your daughter.

LeahG - Wednesday, 2 July
Does your baby cry while laying down? Does she spit up? Is there anything else specific that you notice?

ladobruk - Wednesday, 2 July

It WILL get better. As you know Shay is the same way and she is already starting to improve. She has started to have 2-4 days in a row of happiness in between fussy days. I am back to a bland diet convinced it is something I am eating combined with her too short of naps during the day. It helps getting out of the house with her and joining some community groups. I go to a breast feeding clinic weekly and it is nice to hang out with other Moms with babes around the same age. I understand your fear of “it’s not colic, she is just an unhappy baby” I have had the same thoughts, but everyone keeps assuring me it will get better and I am choosing to believe them – after all it already has. Did you also try the sling? Shay quiets every time I put her in it. I don’t have to put her in it as often anymore. I also forced the pacifier on her. She resisted but I was relentless. I didn’t want to give her one, but unfortunately, she is a baby who needs one. She doesn’t know how to self soothe. I put it in when she is getting really antsy but not crying yet and it calms her. I have to hold it in place for a while before she will start sucking on it.
Good luck and hang in there.

ooooh that s a great suggestion about the radio set to static, i really would not have thought of that ;) Thanx!!! I also say a dvd on the 5 S s and Swaddle was rec for a while. I too though my son hated it b/c he wants his arms free. But when he is tired and ready for sleep or needs to be comforted it works like a charm. Thanx babe ;)

branbug - Wednesday, 25 June
yea i like the VCF too. it is pretty good on some instances like you said not for four play hehehe. yea you can get that stuff at cvs or any pharmacy store.

branbug - Wednesday, 25 June
I have been on the shot before too. I was on it for 2 years. I didnt gain any weight though. I know a lot of women gain weight on any type of birth control. That's because it tends to make some women feel more hungry so you're actually eating more food so that's why they gain weight. Well that what my doc. said anyway. I don't knwo what we'll do now. I guess just be careful and maybe use that foam stuff (spermicide) :0)

mom2boy - Wednesday, 25 June
I know I was afraid that he wasn't eating enough too. Maybe that is why he isn't like that at night, because he is swaddled. I think if I swaddle him for feedings he will be confused though because right now he only gets swaddled for sleep.
