Hi ladies!!! I am having a girl. I plan on naming her Heather Anne. I can't wait untill I get to see her! This is my first pregnancy and child to be. I am currently single...the father and I had split up "temporarily" untill the child is born. We had our problems. But, I am excited and hitting the world head on! If you would like to talk about anything I am really open. Even if you are single like me and want to talk about crap I'm all ears. Thanks for visiting my page! Good luck and congrats to all the mommies to be!!! (Hopefully soon I can put up pics of my belly progress when I have time.) BIRTH STORY!!!!!
Heather’s due date was May 6th. Naturally and surprisingly I went into labor on my own on May 6th. About 9 am I was having weird cramps. It felt like menstrual cramping. I had a couple the other day so I ignored it and went on. I was getting breakfast In the kitchen when I felt a little flow coming out of my crotch. It was enough to dripple a little down my leg. So of course, I stopped (I know I had to of had the weirdest look on my face ha) and went to the bathroom. It was clear liquid followed by blood. It was darkish brown tint. I had a doctors apt that afternoon so I just waited for the doc apt instead of going to the hospital. At the doc office after talking to the doctor she wanted me to go the hospital because of the menstrual cramping, bleeding and trickle all together. After I arrived at the hospital it turns out it was just discharge. And I was put on the stress test just to be safe because of the bleeding. Then I was sent home. That night I was up ALL night. The contractions kept getting bigger and stronger. I started to keep track of them from Constractionmaster.com. The contractions were only 10 min apart and lasted only 30-50 seconds. But boy, It was PAINFUL. I knew something was wrong because it wasn’t close enough in time to hurt the way they were hurting. At 3 am on May 7th (the next day) I was almost in tears because they hurt so bad. They were jumping from 6 minutes apart to 10 minutes apart and they were all lasting a little over a minute. I knew I was officially in labor; but still didn’t know why they were hurting so bad. I kept track of my contractions all day long. They kept getting closer and closer and hurt a lot more. I planned on going to the hospital when they were 5 min apart. I called family to let them know. I didn’t eat the night before and all that day because I felt so sick to my stomach and on top of that I hadn’t slept. I left for the hospital when the contractions started reaching 5 min apart. My mom took me and the rest of the family was going to come up once I got myself situated and found out more information. When I got there I was checked. I only 50% effaced and barely 2 cent dilated. My reaction was horrible. I seriously thought the nurse was lying. I was thinking no way was ALL of that pain just getting me that far. So they had me walk for an hour. That was close to very painful. Keeping in mind I have multiple physical problems so I have a pretty good pain tolerance. After my walking I was rechecked and I was almost 3 cent and 100% effaced. Since I showed that must improvement in an hour they wanted me to stay. My family came up to show support. The nurses wanted me to keep walking but I was in so much pain I just couldn’t. Turns out It was back labor that was why it was hurting so bad on top of that not sleeping at all makes things more exhausting than what they really are. At 4 cent I was told I could get a epidural. I wanted to go natural on this birth but I was passing out from being exhausted and I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle it. So I was finally able to get the epidural when I was at 6 cent (the doc took so long ). Finally I was getting the epidural. It hurt so bad. He had to try over 3 times. I was having strong and fast contractions so it was super hard to stay still I just wanted to scrunch up in a ball and die. I felt this HUGE release of water or pee. I thought I was peeing when he was putting the needle in so I tried to stop peeing but I couldn’t. I told the nurse stuff is coming out and she checked me and said I don’t see anything. (ha ha I said “stuff is coming out” a lot to the nurse. I was bleeding a lot so it felt weird). Finally the epi calmed my nerves and I was told to take a nap for an hour or so I can be rested and feel better. Only half the epi worked. I felt a little big of numbness in my right knee and a patch on my stomach and that was it. It missed the spots that count the most! Lol. The doc re checked me and I went from a 6 to 9 centimeters in half and hour. So.. No time for me to rest! I was told to start pushing a little bit after that. My mom and two sisters bless their hearts helped me through every step. The nurse I had through the whole thing was the nicest and such a helpful nurse. She really made me feel good even when I said and asked stupid questions lol. I was pushing for an hour and half. Through each push I remember laying my head back and my eyes rolling in the back of my head and trying to stay awake and not pass out. The epi wasn’t working at all the last hour of pushing. I started sweating a lot during the last half hour I guess that is when your body works the hardest. Finally the baby came! She was set on top of me and I was trying so hard to stay focused. She was born at 2:53 am on May 08th 2008. She weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces; 18 inches long. My mom kept saying over and over again “she’s so beautiful” and my sister held my hand while I was delivering the placenta and getting stitched up. I was trying to hard to stay focused on the baby and get a good look at her but my eyes kept rolling in the back of my head. Finally, I was able to look at her, hold her and try to feed her. I can’t even tell how I feel about her. It’s something you can’t put into words. I know every mom that just had their babies say that, but it’s totally true. Its hard to understand how you love someone you just met but yet you feel like you have known them forever. You have this HUGE burst of love for such a small thing. It’s an awesome feeling. So I had over 30 hours of back labor, this little creature weighing under 7 pounds put me through so much pain. But I love her so much and would do it all over again. I couldn’t of done it without my family supporting me and being their for me. Even though they saw things they wish they didn’t lol.

Thursday, 1 May Yes my daughter is perfectly fine. Nothing happened to her. Course they did catch it right away though. I don't really remember worrying about it. I was just glad she got on antibiotics. She has only been on antibiotics one other time in her 3 1/2 years and that was for one case of Strep throat. And the rest of us had it too. pamallhoney -
Wednesday, 30 April I just wrote to someone else. I have had GBS with all my pregnancies. The only child to get it was the one where I had my membranes stripped two days before she was born. Her water broke about 12 hours before birth. I was on antibiotics. I also got a bad kidney and uti infection from the strip. I will never do a strip again. I'm sure that's what led to her getting the Strep B. She was on antibiotics when she left the hospital. pamallhoney -
Wednesday, 30 April I follow Dr. Mercola real closely. Although my kids have always had the Vitamin K shot, the last two haven't had any immunizations. I think he has a lot of great facts. jen8282 -
Wednesday, 30 April Hello
I saw the websites you posted and it seems you are as interested in alternate vaccination schedules and programs as well as their side effects as I am. I just finished reading "The Vaccination Book" By Dr. Sears, this book is an excellent source to vaccinations and all the different types and brands as well as their side effects and ingredients. It also provides an alternate vaccination schedule where your child only recieves one aluminum containing vaccine at a time and allows the childs body to eliminate the toxins in it before getting another. My pediatrician actually reffered the book to me and I learned soooo much! MILMOM2BE -
Wednesday, 30 April I am gbs positive, and my doctors policy is that she will only do it after explaining the risks, so here is what she told me: The sweep increases the chance of your water breaking, this typically only happens in 10-15% of pregnancies, and the fear is your water breaking and you not noticing, as once your water is broken the womb is no longer sterile and the baby could become infected, so if you do opt for the sweep, you have to be super concious of whether you are leaking fluid or not. I was willing to take the risk knowing what to look for, but it is your descision. Good Luck! snowwhite5thbabe -

Wednesday, 30 April im strep b positive too and i havent heard anything about it being harmful to baby to have membranes stripped...but who knows!? i never even thought of that. but my doc doesnt do anything like that anyway, he wont even talk about inducing until im a week overdue. sucks. oh btw, im single too!!!! well, im married but going through a divorce, but i've been without a significant other this for the last 6 months of this pregnancy, so im right there with ya sister!!! good luck with everything! timberlakek05 -
Wednesday, 30 April I am pos. for strep also and my doctors wont do it. It must not be very good for the baby? But if your doc lets you, I guess its not that bad GODSGIFTOF4 -
Tuesday, 29 April HELLO, I HAVE HAD MY MEMBRANES SWEPT TWICE. WITH MY LAST CHILD, I DELIVERED THAT NIGHT AND WITH THIS ONE IT DID NOTHING BUT GIVE ME REALLY BAD CRAMPS FOR 3 DAYS. ALL IT IS, IS WHEN THE DOC IS GIVING YOU YOUR INTERNAL, HE WILL TAKE HIS FINGERS AND RUN THEM ACROSS THE CERVIX AND YOUR BAG OF WATER. THIS SEPARATES THE MEMBRANES ATTACHED BETWEEN THE CERVIX AND BAG. IT IS SLIGHTLY UNCOMFORTABLE. GOOD LUCK AND HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU!!!! shelleyrae33 -
Tuesday, 29 April Breezy - it depends on the state you live in. I live in Michigan and when my son was born I wasn't married to his father and right on my son's birth certificate (even though his dad signed it) it says that the mom has all the custodial rights and the father has none. I do believe it's like this in most states. If you aren't married, there isn't a lot he can do about it. jenim24 -
Tuesday, 29 April Lots of things depend on the laws where you live but in MOST states you can not put him on the b.certificate without him being present. Which is kind of a good thing. He would have to prove he is the father before he could take your baby or have visiting rights. BUT if you take him for chid support, you are legally stating he is the father and automatically giving him rights to your child. I went through this almost 13 yrs ago with my son, and i am so glad I never put him on the BC and i never took him for support. I wish i didn't but i have years of experience with the whole situation since my son is almost 13. another1ontheway23 -
Tuesday, 29 April I read your post, and I don't know if it's different where you live, but I live in Illinois and with my first son I wasn't able to put his father on the birth certificate without him being there to sign it. I later had him fill out a voluntary acknowledgement of paternity form and my son's birth certificate was later ammended to have his father's name on it. Because I didn't have health insurance that covered maternity at the time I had my son, I was on public aid for my pregnancy. The state sent me forms to fill out and they filed for child support from my son's father. I'm not sure, but I don't think that you can get child support without having the father on the birth certificate, at least not here where I live. But even though I do recieve child support, there is no court order or anything that legally gives my son's father custody or visitation, and so far (thank god) he hasn't pursued it. So, to make a long story short I don't think legally that you can collect child support without the father on the birth certificate, but just because you are getting child support does not mean that they have any legal custody or visitation rights until they pursue them. I hope this helps you, cuz i've know what you mean about not wanting the father to have custody. i've def been where you are right now! bigmommat -
Tuesday, 29 April HI, I dunno where abouts you live but in Canada, if NEITHER parent has sole custody and one decides to take the child they wont necessarily do anything about it if they dont feel the parent is a risk to the child because both have legal rights to the child as no one has custody. I have sole custody of my eldest two children and plan to get it with the 3rd even tho their dad and i are good friends its something that satisfies me knowing that he cant just take off. I would go right away for child support and custody if you have any concerns. babyboi3 -
Tuesday, 29 April Hi!! I had my membranes stripped with my last son. I was just under 38 weeks and dilatd to 2cm. I had contractions after that all day and was in LABOR!! I had him the following morning around 3am. They say it doesn't really work unless you've begun to dilate/efface atleast a little. I remember it being kinda uncomfortable, but not too painful. I go tomorrow to get it done with this one!! I'm so excited, since it worked last time! With my first, my water broke on its own...so there was no need. Are you dilated/effaced at all? Let me know how it goes! I wish you luck mama! NOTE: Older messages are compressed to speed up the website.
