The best things I thought were
helpful to bring to the hospital:
·
IPOD, walkman, music- to get thru tough
contractions, or watch a movie on the ipod to pass the time.
·
A birth plan- if you want baby on your chest,
daddy cutting the cord and if you want an episiotomy ß I tore I wish I would
have told her I was ok with one.
·
Your own pillows
·
Heating pad, for your tummy when your uterus
contracts back to size.
·
Pajamas (old ones you can bleed on)
·
A light weight blanket, hospital blankets are
not very comfy
·
A boppy pillow to breastfeed, those beds are
awful to get comfortable.
·
Wipes, or your own baby wash cloths, they don’t
supply wipes only hard old wash cloths to wipe your baby’s brand new bum.
·
Your own pads -after the first set of large
diaper type are gone they give crappy ones.
·
A couple
outfits for baby- they may pee or pooh all over them, or spit up- random little
creatures.
·
A laptop- it gets boring after a while
especially when they take your baby away for testing and bath.
·
A gift for big sister/brother
·
Don’t forget to ask for numbing spray for Down

Tuesday night I had thought about my upcoming inducement on Thursday at 8 pm. That was just so far away since I missed the 31st. So I thought I would ask the doctor if I could be induced Wednesday instead since my husband had Thursday off and would have to work Friday although he would miss work for sure we would lose money. Anyway I rehersed all night how I would ask the doctor why Wednesday would be better than Thursday. Well the doctor said sure why not, I was finally dilated to a 2 I have been waiting 5 weeks to finally dilate to a 2. Anyway the day went by fast I made sure I packed everything. We went down to the hospital and they gave us the wrong room it was way too small to be a delivery room and then the real room was HUGE like a hotel. I had a really great nurse except she had a heavy accent and I don't think she heard me how I asked 3 times about the epidural. She just started the pitocin anyway she started out really slow. I actually was excited because the contractions were EXACTLY like the ones I have had at home. They were bearable until about 4 am I decided to listen to Enya to get through these harder ones and as the song ended I felt a warm water leak down my leg. I was so happy that something actually happened naturally. But I knew after the water breaks the contractions get WORSE, so I said where is the anastesialogist and she said he is in a C-sec. I was so sad, but 2 seconds later the guy came and I was so happy the epidural didn't hurt at all because he numbed the back first. Before the epidural she did give me some pain killer and it was amazing I felt like I was on cloud 9 even though I could still feel partial contractions it did take the edge off. Anyway I progressed really fast I went from a 4 to a 7 in like 5 hours then a 7 to a 9 in 2 hours and then I was complete- everyone was distracted and left to get a drink or whatever I didn't really care at that point. The nurse said I could start pushing and I did really well then she called the doctor and my doctor came about 5 minutes later and I pushed about 5-6 more times and she was out. The doctor layed her on my chest and she had a full head of hair. It was a nice experience and she hardly ever cries. I brought the best things to the hospital : heating pad, own pillows and blanket & comfy jammies.
