Well what can I say? This is pregnancy #9, but will only be baby #4, due to lots of miscarriages in between #2 and #3. I have a 10yo girl, 8yo boy, 2yo girl and this one is (no surprises) apparently a boy!
My husband is the love of my life. We've been together for 7 years, but were only married last year. We're a military family so move about quite a bit. But after 20 years he's starting to look at career options.
We're both excited about the impending arrival of our son. The older two children are as well. Little Miss is a bit confused about all the bubby things slowly filling up the house; she thinks it's all for her dolls. She's very much a daddy's girl which might help once bub comes along with the sibling rivalry - she relishes in being the baby so I think she might be in for a shock.
We agreed early on in the piece to the name Elijah. Middle name chosen was Jeremy, but we're contemplating changing it to James and adding Anthony in after hubby's stepdad.
I'm still currently working full time, with maternity leave not starting until mid April, 1 month before I'm due. I love my job but hate managing budgets but it's all part of it. I'm looking forward to finishing up for the year though and being able to take a bit of a break before bub comes along.
I love everything pregnancy and childbirth related, although I'm not keen on being pregnant - I'd rather be in labour than be pregnant for 9 months!! All my labours have been fast, 4.5 hours for the first, 45 minutes for the second, and 7.10 hours for the third, who was posterior. I'm forever reading up on pregnancy and labour. I'm desperately hoping for a home birth this time around. It's just a matter of waiting for whether the midwives will accept me on it or not. I've had my other three children in hospital, 2x delivery suites and once at the birthing centre. The birthing centre was the best experience - my shortest labour and drug free (by choice as well as running out of time). I am one of those people who will prattle on about how powerful a time giving birth is, and how empowering experiencing it can be, whether naturally or by c-section. One day, when my kids are older, I plan on studying to be a doula. Perhaps from there I might go in to midwifery, but for now my dream is just the small one of helping women enjoy their pregnancies, labour and the beginning of motherhood.
