Im a nursing student pregnant with my 2nd boy and very excited. I have had a lot of changes very quickly, but it is an exciting time. My little baby moves alot and thats been amazing, but we still havent found a name for him, at the moment we call him squirtle after my sons favourite pokemon.

My son is very excited to be a big brother, and has been able to feel squirtle move quite a bit which was really sweet, my husband has aswell. Its lovely being able to share this experience.

Even though we were all certain it was a girl our 18 week ultrasound showed it to be a boy, we still asked them to double check at our last ultrasound though as we couldnt beleive it. I feel a bit more confident with a boy though, it may sound weird but I wasnt sure how to handle a girl.

20.8.07

On our 18 week ultrasound they thought squirtle had a problem with his renal cavities, they were showing larger than normal. We had them checked again last week and the results came back still a bit big but apparently nothing of clinical significance. This is a common problem with boys they told us and can fix it self or just require a small procedure after they are born. We are all really relieved though. He moves around heaps and kicks his dad.

29.8.07

All went well at our checkup today,we saw the midwife eventually after they lost our file and kept us waiting an hour!! But we heard his heartbeat and got to ask a few queations so it was all good.

2.8.07

Had a beautiful fathers day, im so proud and happy with my husband and its been amazing sharing this pregnancy with him.It was his first fathers day so it was really special, my son had never had a father to share it with before either so I was happy for both of them. I know he is going to be a great dad for a new little one because he is so good with my son.

3.10.07

Had an appointment with the midwife today,it took 2 hours!! We were waiting for 40mins!! But she checked me over and my bloodpressure is higher than it has been for a while at 110/80 so that was good, I may get some energy back. She did squash squirtles head a fair bit whilst feeling my belly, she dug in really hard and kept saying she could feel his head,he was lying downwards into my pelvic area and when we asked if it was ok for to be pressing on his head so much she said it was fine she was only pressing on his hard head and we both thought, but his head is soft! We did hear his heart beat to,which is always great and it was 152 so perfectly fine and he started kicking the dopplar again

10.10.07

We still cant decide on a name, we were stuck on Morgan intill Petes grandma pointed out he would get called Morg which sounds awful to me so that ruined it!! Now we are considering Timothy and Austin its driving us mad! I cant get enough Juice boxes at the moment but atleast I seem to have progressed from cream cheese which I couldnt get enough of for a few weeks. Squirtle is constantly rolling around these days but it is very cute! Just wish we could think of a name, Peter has suggested every race car driver name and car brand I think.

Somehow I seem to feel like im 3 months pregnant again..blah. But squirtle is doing well. He gave us a scare a week ago, seemed to be coming early as we were half way home from Sydney. We had to turn round and go to Liverpool hospital, I hate hospitals. My cervix was a bit shortened but no dilation so Pete rescued me from there and we got to stay in Sydney another day, which was a good thing!Since then I have had some nasty contractions but nothing serious so all is well. He is now head down but still wriggly, even the midwives have commented that he is a very happy, very active baby. We still dont have a name for him, He needs to come out with a name tag.

13.11.07.

Have finished uni for the year,so now im under house arrest with orders to rest. Im resting but baby isnt,he is still bouncing around and poking me heaps, defying any suggestion that he may decide to come out anytime soon,he doesnt seem to know that babys are meant to settle down at this stage and then be born,I feel like a human jumping castle. Sleep isnt happening anymore,my poor husband must feel like he is in bed with an overgrown ferret. I could now get a job doing beached whale impersonations at parties,I live in fear of getting harpooned or else being rescued by greenpeace when im out and about. I get alot of contractions now, mostly just in my lower tummy and they happen mostly when I change position or getup from sitting, they are not very comfortable but I guess it is good practice for the real thing.

6.12.07

Little baby arrived on the 29th of november at 8:17am after a 4 and a half hour labour.I had a natural labour which was what I wanted and it all went really well. I had no sign before hand apart from a tiny dot of mucous in my panties the before I went to bed. Contractions started at 10mins apart in my back mostly and I continued to have severe back labour all the way through. We rang the hospital to say I had contractions 10mins apart and they said stay home and call when they are 5mins apart. That started to happen in only 2mins time so we called back and they said dont worry you can be at this stage for hours!!! Luckily my husband was firm about taking me in because by the time we got to the hospital which is only 5mins from us my contractions were 2mins apart and I was struggling to walk into the hospital. When we got in,they monitored baby and felt where he was and then did a internal to see if I was dilated,I was 3- 4 cms and my contractions were very intense with a lot of pain and pressure way down aroiund my bottom. They said I was not going home! I got in the shower which was a life saver,it really helped on my back. When I moved to the bed so they could check baby again I found that kneeling and leaning over the raised head of the bed and pillows was best and I delivered in this position. They kept telling me to breathe deeply and blow off the pain but alot of screaming seemed to make me feel better but alot of deep quick puffs gave me something to try and concentrate on. Feeling his head come out was amazing and then the sudden rush of the rest of his body followed. My waters broke about 25mins before he came and from then I felt the need to push down, the pressure from his body moving down was intense and the sting of him squeezing out was bad but it is all gone as soon as you feel them rush out,its amazing. The midwives were great, very supportive and reassuring. My husband stayed with me through out and I hung onto him like a leech! I was able to sit up and have some tea within 30mins after delivering the placenta and breastfed only a few minutes after delivery. I went home that night which was what I planned and as all was well they said it was fine. Im so happy and its the best thing. Babies and children are a great way to turn a normal life into something spectacular.

18.2.08

Quentin is wonderful. He started smiling about the 10-12 of january and first laughed on the 8th of feb. He is perfect. He still doesnt like being put down, loves to be held all time, I even end up ironing one handed, but about 2 weeks ago he started to play a little with the toys in his bouncer and now will amuse himself for a bit with toys which is cute!He is very alert and getting to know people and there voices,he loves being talked to and responds with smiles and little noises.Andrew is great at entertaining him and can spend ages in conversation with him,he is a good big brother. Getting his immunisations done was the worst, I almost cried. He squealed and it was just awful he had two shots one in each leg and it seemed so cruel! He was sick from the rotavirus one for a week,he got an upset tummy which was worse for us I think,he was fine with it! He got a high temp the night of the shots and was unsettled. Peter had 8 weeks off work when Quentin was two weeks old and they got to know each other better which was good, Peter makes funny noises at him which he loves.

17.2.08

Quentin gave a real belly chuckle last monday when I put him in his bath he was so delighted with it,it was very cute.Andrew was helping me and he poured water over him to help wash and Quentin thought that was great. He has started trying to roll over or rather he finds himself rolling over and cant stop it so he gets annoyed. He hates tummy time. On Friday morning 14th he started pushing with his back legs to move himself along and then on saturday he got really good at it.

5.9.07

Quentin cut his first tooth today, after a very restless night I peeped in his mouth this morning and there on his lower gum on the righ side was a little dot of white. I feel so sad though at this sign of his growing up!He loves building blocks,Harry Potter,a rubber orange plane and his puppet monkey. He had a lovely bubble bath yesterday,it was so cute, but he also enjoys his showers with mum or dad.

, great name=)...I love my country=)! It's a wonderful place to live. As far as weather goes, it is different everwhere...it is rather wet where I am...and housing costs are thru the roof right now...we are wanting to buy, but just cannot afford it=(. We keep seeing the houses in the States on those home shows on tv, and just are just amazed that you can get so much house for so little. For example, a $150,000 house down there will be $400,000-$450,000 up here I haven't sen all of Canada, really want to visit the East as I have heard that it is very beautiful. How 'bout you, what's it like? Did I see on your page that you were trying to concieve again or was that for the last time?

Hope-n-Joy - Friday, 29 August
Hey, I keep seeing you on here at the same time as me (late at night in Canada, lol)...your boy was born the same day as mine=)...my name used to be bunnyj on here with him...started a new page for ttc for the next...don't tell me you still haven't thought of a name, lol...hope you're well=)

my mom's really supportive. she's letting me stay at home as long as i need to.
did you love your son in the beginning?
I don't really even like him, right now. i've read that it's normal not to have a bond in the beginning. i'm just afraid that me not really interacting with him now will ruin any chance of a good relationship. I try talking to him now, and i don't get any response at all, but my mom can get a smile out of him right away.

sarahann - Sunday, 24 August
Hey, I see you got a BFN. Don't let it get you down, there's always hope until af shows up!

thencamebaby - Friday, 22 August
thanks for the comment. I am gonna keep breastfeeding!

becky-135 - Thursday, 21 August
thanks a lot for the advice.
i'll try doing what you said. I think a part of it is that I get so frustrated with him. I tell myself that he's just a baby, and he's crying because he needs something, but it doesn't help. I have a horrible temper. i think this parenting thing is way above my maturity level, unfortunately.

brownsugar - Thursday, 21 August
thank u so much for your support

Thanks! When is AF due for you? When are you testing. There are a lot of us on the TWW right now! Maybe will get a long string of BFP's!!! That would be great. It would be so awesome to get them all at the same time!

busybeemom - Thursday, 14 August
Sophie just got her 3rd tooth today... YAY!

coopermom - Thursday, 14 August
Thank you for your encouraging words about your husband and boys not having a problem. I have done a lot of research on the issue of circumcision and have convinced my circumcised husband that it is wrong to do this to a baby. We are having a baby boy in Jan '09 and are NOT going to put him through this unnecessary and painful ordeal. Love, Kim

vikki - Thursday, 14 August
HI,
I'm am being well monitored. The placenta wont move. It can't. It is mistaken that they can. What happens is a placenta may be close in early pregnancy but as the uterus grows larger it its stretches and seems like it moves. It's like having a dot on a balloon , as it gets bigger the dot doesn't shift but stretches. If the placenta is OVER the cervix, that's it. It's a complete previa. OH well, I'm feeling alittle calmer about it now. I am following instructions to the letter. Anything to keep the braxtons at bay for as long as possible.

I have the contact information for the home schooling. In the end I just asked the lady that I deal with at the education deptartment, who would be the best person for you to talk to for NSW Here's the information.

The contact in NSW is Debbie Kashmer.
Her number is 93678395.
email: debbie.kashmer@bos.nsw.edu.au

I hope that is helpful.

Well take care and tap soon
