Yes, i just cant seem to get happy with how this is set up so im redoing it again. Hello everyone, I am 20 years old and married to the most wonderful man i could ask for. His name is Dominick and he will be 21 a month after the due date. This is going to be our first child and it is a little boy. We decided to name him Ari Mordechai; Ari means lion and Mordechai is the name of some jewish person who started an important war (my husband is jewish/hebrew decent so if this made him happy i was happy). At the moment my husband is in the army but sometime around late May he is getting medical discharge and we are moving back to his hometown in Pensacola, Fl. The first trimester of my pregnancy was awesome except for that i was tired all the time. I didnt get morning sickness, headaches, or severe backaches. The second part was ok except for that is when the backaches really started to set in. And so far the third trimester is fine but i now am being treated for a slight case of gestational diabetes which is challenging to say the least. And because of that i now have to go in for a non stress test twice a week. I had my first one the other day and depending on what you were looking for is wether or not he passed or not. If you wanted to see his heart rate change he passed; but if you wanted it to be in the normal range then he failed cause he just would not settle down and he tried to kick the monitors off me for the entire hour they had me hooked up.

BTW, I've always done both b/f and formula so I could be free to do stuff during the day and have a sitter :) Works just fine.

Hey hon, well you're very young so maybe you'll get the chance to do it again for another baby, but if it's not too late (you haven't stopped already), do whatever's best for you (I never wore a bra - AAs - and I wear one for bigger boobs now every night to bed and sleep with a towel laid down...) BUT, you may not get the chance to see what it's like to have your baby breastfeeding, then look up into your face and smile (it is awesome), or make all kinds of crazy faces like cross-eyes, and stroke you in the most loving way just below your breast while they suckle. I think it's the most tender expression of love there is. That happened to me at about 3-4 months old. You'll get to love this little person, and the b/f'ing won't just be for a little non-responsive stranger for long! All the best hon xx

There's no problem with you not breastfeeding if that's how you feel. But sweetie, you're going to be at someone's beck and call for the rest of your life now that you're a mother. That in itself is NOT a reason to NOT breastfeed. I would LOVE to breastfeed my son longer, but I'm not producing a whole lot of milk and it's pointless to pump when I'm only getting 2 oz from BOTH breasts in a 30 minute period. I wish you all the best no matter what you choose. And by the way LOVE the names you picked. Our son has names of Hebrew decent also. We are not Jewish, but follow Judaism.

Amberizzle - Monday, 5 May
Hey hun, if you don't feel comfortable breastfeeding, then don't. It's as simple as that. Do what feels right to you. :)

Hi I saw your comment in fetal development, can you tell me more about what the doctors told you about your small baby? We measured small as well around 33 weeks. We are now 35 weeks and still small. She is growing a little bit and her stomach finally caught up but they are monitoring me every week and I am wondering if she is so healthy, why they need to monitor me? Any info would be great if you know anything :) thank you
Casey

hi caitie,
its just so weird! who knows whats going on in there!
Saturday i was obsessed about the baby moving & it was one of those days where it didn't move allot, after tea at about 8pm i got a fair bit of rolling movement (belly waves) and a few thuds, when I was in bed not till 11pm, i began obsessing again, i think i felt it once... (i guess it was asleep like i should have been) then i woke up for the toilet at 3am, and started obsessing again, i drank some milk, went back to bed & nothing i lay there for an hour then made myself forget about it to sleep. i was up again for the toilet at 6am, went straight back to bed & i got a thud straight away & a bit of a wave then i went to sleep. i just got up at 7.30am, have been sitting here eating breakfast & I have had movements since 7.50am, so nearly 1/2 an hour. i did have one which was like a jab from a knee or elbow just above my belly button!
this totally does your head in, this site and reading does too sometimes! i just can't wait for the finish line!!

catsa79 - Saturday, 19 April

Hi, Just wanted to drop a line to wish you all the best over the next 3 (to 5) weeks. I hope your labour goes relatively painless, and that your Baby is the apple of your eye. All the best for whatever the future holds for us all. Mel (London).

Hey, thanks.. I was so PISSED when I found out i had GD, I am 35 weeks today and I found out last week, so I guess I am pretty thankful that it wasn't early-onset GD... How is your baby doing? is s/he big? how long have you been treating your GD?? anything good you know of I can eat?? haha, I was first really scared for my baby because I know he could be too big and unhealthy, but now that I am trying to manage it I get more mad at the tiny little portions!! Also do you know if 93 is too low for an hour after lunch??? I ate tuna and a salad with veggies and cheese with some ceaser dressing... I thought that was stretching it!

my-lil-miracle - Thursday, 27 Mar
Hey just curious how long was your NST?? I have to go twice a week when I turn 36 weeks, and just wondering how long on average they monitor for??

Don't worry too much, as nurse the heart rate is pretty normal range. If it is over 190 constantly than there is something to worry about a bit.

Hi I have GD too.. regular instant oatmeal is good in the mornings.. I sweeten mines with one pack of splenda.. you can eat multigrain or whole wheat 2 slices of it toasted with eggs, cheese and sausages if you choose.. I like to switch up my breakfast so I don't get bored. You can also have wheat thomas english muffins. Lunch you can have sandwich meat ( cooked till hot) on wheat bread and cheese with some salad in it.. olive oil helps reduce your glucose so you can use it to dress your salads with a splash of red wine vinegar. Dinners if you going to cook pasta use wheat I had that the other day and ate a big portion of it and my levels where normal.. you can have your meats just not fried or greasy. Avoid fruit juices because it will bring up your levels.. if you going to have fruit juice it should be only half a cup.. drink lots of water .. snacks you can have 3 cups of popcorn with a polly-o string cheese ... they have multi-grain Kellogg's crackers ( you can have about 36 crackers) with a stick of cheese.. night snacks a nice peanut spread on bread and milk.. if you are full and don't want to have that before bed you can have graham crackers 1 sheet and a half with milk.. you really want your snacks to be healthy since you are limited on what you can eat.. so basically every bite should be nutritious so that you and your baby can get what you both need in daily vitamins and such.. once in a while you can satisfy you sweet tooth with edy's sugar free ice cream sweetened with splenda it taste so good! lol.. make sure you eat your snacks between meals when you get hungry and wait about half an hr to 40 minutes before eating a meal when you had a snack you don't want to go starving.. Any questions feel free to ask.. take care.

Caitie,
Here are some snacks to try that shouldn't mess with your sugar too much (I've had diabetes since I was 2). Sugar free jello, plain Cool-Whip (though be careful b/c too much will bring it up), sugar free popsicles (not the fruit kind), nuts, a tablespoon of peanut butter here or there. Be careful of items that boast that they are low-carb--usually that means higher fat, sodium, and calories. I also pop a piece of sugar free gum when I'm wanting to eat and it helps soothe my urges a wee bit. You can also freeze your regular portions of milk or yogurt and then pop them in the blender to mimic ice cream. Just keep in mind that you'll have to account for the carbs in your meals.

I just read your comment on the mucus plug, and I'm 32 weeks pregnant and I think that I just lost mine. Was that with a previous pregnancy? If so, how long after did you give birth?

Hey caitie! I was just reading through the comments under the c-section page and came across yours. I ended up having a c-section back in Nov/07 and breastfed my daughter with no problems. I had a spinal block for the surgury itself and then a morphine drip, Tyenol 3s and a antihisamine and I believe one other med too and my daughter didn't seem to mind in the least!!! LOL. The nurses never said I couldn't breastfeed and my baby had no adverse reaction to the meds. Hope this helps and good luck to you!

linzi50 - Tuesday, 4 Mar
Hi Caitie

Yes you can definately breast feed your child after a c-section, I did with my first. I'm not sure if you get put under a general though? But that doesnt happen that often usually spinals and epidurals are the way they go with a c-section. Anyway so yeah go for it and good luck.
