03/26/2008-NOT PREGNANT!!!!-so I kind of slacked my last few days of pregnancy...I went to the doc. on 03/19/08 and was having headaches with the BP and they decided to induce me that day. Long story short (will post birth story later) Lucas was born 03/21/08 at 2:51 pm. He was 8lb 5oz and 21 in. I am SOOO in love!! The best feeling ever!

03/10/2008-36/37 weeks-Doctors appointment today and had an ultrasound and the monkey is weighing in at 6 pounds 9 ounces. Dr. said it is in the 65%. I think he will be a small baby considering I was almost 10 pounds and 5 weeks early...(my poor mom!!!) Gained 1 pound since the 26th, not too bad. But my BP was high again and there was protein in my urine. Dr. said to REST REST REST. Good news for me, no more work! Just focusing on me and baby! I am so happy. I am praying this little boy comes out earlier than the 26th cause I just cant stand waiting, but at least he is giving me time to clean and prepare. That's all for now, until next weeks appointment...

02/26/2008-35 weeks-Yesterday had my weekly doctors appointment. Was disappointed because I was told I was getting an ultrasound and turns out my weekly ones start next week...?! But we heard the heartbeat and all is well. My doctor went ahead and scheduled my induction for March 26th...exactly ONE MONTH!! O lord I hope I am ready!!! :)

02/19/2008-34 weeks-Let me start by complaining...I am way done with being pregnant. Now I do love having my little Lucas kicking and moving all over the place, but I do not love the swollen ankles and hands and the fact that I drink one glass of water and cannot breathe for the next 3 hours!! I have no more room left inside of me and am so incomfortable. And sleeping is just a little annoying at this point. I used to love it and I am still tired all the time, but I DREAD the night when I have to wake up every 2 hours to flop over from one pained hip to another...ARG. Anyways I went to the doctors for the start of my weekly appointments today and-to start with good news- I LOST 6 POUNDS! WAHOOO I also had an ultrasound and was not expecting it (Awesome surprise!!) and he is doing well. heartbeat at 156 and she said he is a strong breather...?!? Anyways, next week we see how much he weighs, should be interesting! I think he is gunna be a big boy ;). Then went in to have the heartbeat monitored and they were all saying how it was not 'active' enough. Kind of freaked me out a bit, but then they gave me some apple juice and said that he was much better. Next week another ultrasound and I guess more tests. Hope this week goes better....

02/12/2008-33 weeks- Day one of 33 weeks and I had a good scare. I woke up this morning and used the bathroom and saw some bright red blood when I wiped. I have not bled AT ALL through the pregnancy and immediately started balling my eyes out!! Call my doc. at 8:30 and was told to come in right away. My BP was up again! 136/92...not so good. I did only gain a pound though... :) Anywho, saw the nurse practitioner and she checked my cervix, no dilation, just shortening. She then sent me to the hospital to have a Non Stress Test and Bio Physical exam and some blood done. Simple enough I thought. I was hooked up for the NST and all was well. We waited about 3 hours just sitting there and finally got the BioPhysical done. That was cool. They have much better technology than my doc. and the ultrasound was ultraclear! We saw him swallowing and moving, his puffy cheeks and we even think he has my lips and nose. Way too cute to see! That was def. the highlight! then back to our bed upstairs for another 2 hours and finally, we can go! Now, my back is KILLING me and I am exhausted. I kinda just want this over with. Although I must say this morning I made my husband get together our 'hospital bag' just in case and it scared me to death to think this could be it....I am not ready so I am happy all is ok. Now weekly NST's and BioPhysicals, hopefully it will all go by smoothly but quickly!! :)

02/01/2008-31 weeks- I had another doc. appointment today! We got to see our little chunky monkey! :) He has the chubbiest cheeks! He is doing well, we got to see him hiccup a little bit. My blood pressure was very normal and i gained 7 POUNDS!!! oye...I understand that he is now 4 lb 1 oz and there is a lot of water and stuff, but I dunno... It is all well worth it though. :) I cannot wait to meet the little man! Tommorrow is our shower! I am so excited. Should be fun. :)

01/29/2008-31 weeks today!! I feel like time has flown but is now at a standstill. I just cannot wait to meet my little boy. The past few weeks I have been in so much pain in my lower back. Everytime I get up at work I feel like I am ready to fall over!! My feet have becom soooo swollen, its really gross actually, and sleeping has become such a hassle! No comfy position and then once I fall asleep, I wake up a few hours later and am up for another 3 hours just staring at the ceiling...O well. It is all worth it in the end. Only 8 more weeks...That's all I keep saying to myself!!

01/22/2008-30 weeks- Holy cow I cannot believe I am already at the 30 week mark!! YAY! I have been feeling Lucas moving all day long and I love it!! I have been trying to keep track of how many times in an hour he moves while I am at work, mainly because I am super paranoid about something happening, and he is just all over the place!! Lately it hasn't been so much of the strong kicks or punches, but him rolling and moving around. At first it scared me, but I had to figure he is getting pretty cramped in there. Another thing I noticed this week is that he feels like he kicks more on either side of my stomach and not at the top or bottom of it. I wonder if he is laying horizontally instead of head down. I go for another ultrasound on Feb 1st so I will find out then if it's normal...

01/03/2008-27 weeks- I got to go back yet again for an ultrasound to check his spine. He looks great and I am feeling great! A little bummed about the fact that I gained 20 LB already!! The doc. said my bp is good now but since I am high risk still, I have to go for a stress test next month to see how Lucas does. he also told us that if I don't have him by my 39th week we are going to be induced then...I am kind of hoping to wait it out as long as possible just due to work and not the best maternity leave and pay...We'll see. My feet are starting to get SWOLLEN and getting backaches now...here we go. almost in the home stretch!!

12/17/2007- 25 weeks- At todays ultrasound they finished the 20 week scan because they couldn't see everything at the 20 weeks and I am so glad I had to go back :) We found out that he weighs about 2lb and he is in the 70th percentile for his weight...OYE!! The doc. said it was ok unless he was in the 90th percentile so I am not too worried except for the fact that I am going to have to get him outta me at some point and I am hoping he isn't too big!! LOL. He is looking awesome. So much bigger than last time. I can honestly see a difference in his ultrasound pictures. His head has gotten much bigger in a months time!!!

11/16/2007-20 weeks- Yay!! We found out we are having a little Boy!!! His name is Lucas Joseph Aguiar and I couldn't be more excited!! I thought I would be bummed if it weren't a girl, but I am not one bit!! I am happy he is healthy and I can't wait to meet him!! I am a heavier girl so they couldn't do all the measuring of the heart and brain development yet so I go back in 4 weeks for that ultrasound. I am kinda happy about that cause it means I get to see him again!! But I am feeling great at 20 weeks. I think I felt a kick the other day but its not constant yet. The fluttery movements are stronger and stronger every day. Only 20 weeks to go.

we find out the sex on 11/16 and are thrilled!! Both of us are hoping for a girl, but a little boy will be just as nice!! :) I am 19 weeks now and haven't felt any real kicks yet and am impatiently awaiting their arrival...Other than that, everything is great! No more MS and not nearly as tired which is super. Good luck to all you other mommies out there :)

10/17/2007 - 16 weeks- Another great ultrasound today!! We were told that at our next appointment we would be able to find out the sex...CANT WAIT!!!

09/12/2007- 11 weeks- We just went to the doctors for another ultrasound and everything looks great! It looks SO different than in the first ultrasound pictures. We have on excellent 'alien' shot...hehe. I'm sure everyone gets those this early on....The only thing was they found I have high blood pressure. I didn't have an issue before, but today it was super high so they are putting me on some medication and are considering this a high risk pregnancy. Hopefully all goes well!!

08/22/2007- 8 weeks- we had our very first ultrasound and heard the healthy heartbeat. How exciting. It brought tears to my eyes. We found out that we were 8 weeks and 1 day along and that our baby is due on April 2, 2008. I am feeling super sick and can't really keep anything down. I am also EXHAUSTED. I feel like all I do is sleep!! I hope this stage ends soon!!

My name is Caitlyn. My husband Chris and I have been married for almost 13 months now and are expecting our first little one in April. We found out on August 12th that we might be pregnant with some home tests and then went to the doc. for blood work on Mon 8/13/07 and on Tue 8/14/07 we found out WE WERE PREGNANT!!!! It was kind of a shock considering I have PCOS and was told it is super tough to get pregnant. We weren't trying, but we weren't really 'preventing' either... ;) Our family is so excited for us! I can't wait to meet our little one!

Don't feel too bad about the nail cutting accident. I did the same thing to my first baby. I think it hurts us more than them. Just let daddy take over nail cutting duty he'll see what a difficult job it is!

mommyinthesky - Tuesday, 13 May
I've been filing the baby's nails. It works really well. I'm into doing my own nails and I file mine too. I'm not goo with clippers either.

mom2boy - Tuesday, 13 May
Don't worry I am sure it has happened before. I don't dare to cut his nails, I actually file them instead.

Jo-Mama - Tuesday, 13 May
I cut Malone's fingers too, but even worse than you - I cut three of them! I felt so awful. I called my sister and told her I was a bad mom and she said, "That's just bad mom mistake #1. I'm on #19, 000 already." She has two teenagers. I felt so much better after that. And then I found that anyone I told the story too had also cut their babies' fingers. So don't worry. We all do it.

bluebeanz - Tuesday, 13 May
Awww hugs to you. You are NOT a bad mom. Itès easy to do that because their nails & fingers are so small. Tell your husband he can do it now so he can apreciate how dificult it is! I cut my baby's nails the day she was born & cut her too. :( I felt horrible even though she didn't even cry!!! I just couldn't believe I'd done that to her (this is my 2nd daughter so I'm supposed to be a pro). :( So I completely understand how you feel. After that, I refused to cut her nails on the other hand & put the mittens on. But I've since gone back to trimming them again. Hugs!

Tell your husband to read What to Expect the First year. There is a section in the book about nail cutting that states that babies nails are super soft and the skin is still attached to them so EVERYONE will make their baby bleed at least once. Then again if he thinks he is superman let him do it and when he makes your baby bleed I hope you make him feel like crud!

bonnieheather - Tuesday, 13 May
aww dont worry about the finger thing i poked harry in the eye the day he was born and cried for a week about it!! ..

i would just get a soft nail file and file his nails when they look too long.. saves any tears! and i found it was much easier

xx

Hello. I take Metformin for my PCOS it doesn't help me with hair growth or weight but it did regulate AF really well. Also I got pregnant off of met twice with no other fertility drugs needed. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your kind words. This has been rough but I know it could be much worse. Thanks so much for posting your message, it has helped me cheer up and gain a bit of perspective.

Hi there!
Any advise for a newly expecting mother? I too have PCOS, and was told it would be hard to conceive. I am about 5 weeks i believe and do not see the Dr until May 1st, so any advise to hold me off until then would be great! i really want this baby and fear miscarriage! Thank you and congrats to you!

adjohns26 - Monday, 21 April
did you ask how often he poops because he does it too much or you think it isn't enough? As long as he is consistent he is fine. and of course since he is a wee one, you should pay attention to consistency...oh fun! i have a whole chart of poop colors for babies. it's so funny how many conversations we have about our kid's poop! :)

Hi Caitlyn,

My Ava also has jaundice, and I was so set on nursing her exclusively, but she just never seemed satisfied. So what i'm doing now. Is I'll nurse her. and when she seems to give up and fall asleep. Which is only after about 10 or 15 mins [ I read a normal feeding is about 40 minutes , and on both sides where as we only make to one boob ] I'll give her another ounce of formula. That normally holds her over. We've gotten through the nigth with only 1 or 2 feedings after I started doing that. It's disspaointing but as long as she's getting her nourishment and I still get to nurse it's ok. And to bring my supply up. I will pump whenever i get a chance. Always after she is fed, and then also when ever they start filling up in between. then I store it in the fridge and give it to her when i have to take her out, or it's not convenient to nurse. She has her 1 week appt today so we'll see how that's going! Good luck! I hope this helped and sorry it was so long!

mom2boy - Thursday, 17 April
Do you offer him both breasts when you feed him? I was only giving my baby one breast and he would nurse for about 20 minutes and be done. So I figured he was done eating but then he would be hungry shortly after, I thought maybe he wasn't getting enough. So I let him eat on one side until he is done and then offer him the other and he usually eats for another 10 minutes.

KateS - Monday, 14 April
Hey there, read your post about keeping the supply up...I am taking fenugreek and blessed thistle, two herbs that increase milk supply, and HOLY, does it ever work, I am rock solid and pumping like crazy. I put the milk in freezer bags to use whenever its needed!

alison3773 - Sunday, 13 April
I usually pump as soon as Colton finishes eating. At first I could only get an oz or less from each side, but I kept doing it every time and now I can get about 2-3oz from each side after he is already finished. I have a nice supply built up now which is great since today was my first day back at work so I had to leave him with my mom. It was actally nice to get away for a few hours and my mom was more than happy to take care of him for me.

jenakers - Friday, 11 April
My son's tip readheared after his circ. It is not the doc's fault. The skin is new and it just happens. We went to a urologist and had it unattatched. You can actually do it yourself overtime by putting vasaline on it twice a day and work on pulling back the skin. When our son's was fixed we had to put vasaline on it twice a day for a week and then a few times a week after that. We had to make sure and "pop" it out when we changed him. We were also told he would grow out of it but, it bothered us. Hope this helps, Jen

Hi there! Just wanted to comment on your message about fighting with your partner. Me and my boyfriend had a fight when we came home from the hospital, due to be overwhelmed with guest. Sad, but we took our frustrations out on each other. Since then we haven't argued, but know it's normal to have arguments. Having a baby is a big adjustment to your lives and you are going to take the pressure out on eachother. Am sure with in time, things will get better. I also for a couple days had the baby blues or postpartum blues. I cried for no reason. I think breast feeding added to my blues. It felt the baby was sucking the emotions right out of mel. LOL Neways, this is my second time around and it doesn't feel any easier @ times, so hang in there and congrats on your new baby! Take care

babyintheoven - Tuesday, 8 April
I have a two week old boy and the first week was crazy hell on both my husband and I. Not only were we getting use to and learning about our new baby but we had very little sleep. I had the baby blues and every time my husband would say something about my parenting skills I would break down and cry. I think the first month isn't post depression it's just your body is going through hell trying to get back to your per pregnancy self. Maybe when he put your baby down for the night or a long night try and reconnect with your husband sex maybe out of the question but you could either have a glass of wine and talk to him like you did befoe you guys had babies. Fix your hair and makeup and make him loo at you in a different way that just the mother of his kids. When I feel really distance from my husband I try different things to get his attention I don't want to be too needy I know he's going through as much as I am just in his own way.
Good Luck and remember this phase doesn't last forever!

oh lucky you to be induced! But omg yes I am soooo feeling you on that pain. I wake up every morning not being able to move from that pain. It is def the worse pain Ive ever had to deal with. It was worse than my labor & delivery with my first baby. Well I went back to the hospital tonight. Contractions are like 4-5 mintues apart, Im 4cm dilated and only like 40-50% effaced. But they sent me home because im staying steady at that point. He said dont be suprised though if you are back later tonight or tomorrow. He said when they get more intense or the vaginal pressure gets worse call me. I told him there is no way in hell the vaginal pressure could get any worse. OHHHH just induce me already!!!!!
