Friday, 18 July Seeing as you are in week 38, you can ask but they may want to wait one more week. But all they can do is say no, right? My midwife just came in, put her glove on and was like "well, I'm going to do a membrane sweep" and I was like Okey dokey! I think they like to wait until week 39, 40 and so on...
So far, I'm contracting a lot more and lost my mucus plug last night so maybe something will happen this weekend for me! JoBird -

Thursday, 17 July If you are strep b+, you cannot get a sweep. Otherwise ask for it if the dr doesnt mention it! JoBird -
Thursday, 17 July membrane strip - I'm not sure if anything determines that you get one or not. It's something that they do in the hopes of getting labor possibly started. It's when they take thier fingers and sweep around the neck of the cervix and detach membranes. It releases hormones that can kickstart your labor, without breaking the water or inducing. I am still crossing my fingers that it will get something started, but so far nothing out of the ordinary is happening.
