Friday Feb 15th- Hello! No more work for me! Yippy! My Dr. put me on bed rest two weeks ago, then told me last week, that I was fine, and that I could go back to work if I wanted to. But I (of course) don't want to!! I am enjoying relaxing at home right now just preparing for baby Mikayla Anne. NOW, the question is--- DO I go to Charelston, SC for a couple of days with my husband, or do I stay home and play the waiting game. Most of the time I feel fine. I had one dizzy spell that sent me to the hospital for a few hours with slightly high blood pressure... sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night and just feel achey and uncomfortable- but that's nothing new. About two more weeks to go! And then I'll meet my precious girl!!!!!

Wednesday, Jan 30th- The heartburn is unbearable! OMG! I need to ask my dr. tomorrow for some zantac. This is driving me loony! Hopefully she will say yes to that request- you never know, right? Well, I am at 35 weeks, and I am feeling very FULL. She has found this special place in my rib where she loves to lodge her foot. It's kind of cute because it's almost daily that I feel her go there. We decided to name her Mikayla Anne (with an "e") Kohler. We are naming her Ann after my husband's grandmother who passed away only a few days before I found out I was pregnant. It really means a lot to him to honor her, and I think it's very special. One soul leaves as another one enters the world. Only a little over a month to go before I get to meet my sweet baby girl! I am getting anxious!

Monday Jan 21st- We are pretty sure we are going to name her Mikayla Ann Kohler. Can't wait to meet the little cutie! She has been sooooo active lately, kicking and lodging her little foot into my rib cage... mmmmm mmmm. I feel like I can't breathe very well lately either, and have been soooooo tired! My baby shower was supposed to be on Saturday, and we had to cancel it because of a freak snow storm that happened in Atlanta. I've been really sad about that because I was realllllly looking forward to seeing so many of my friends and family. Now with the rescheduled date, I just don't think as many people are going to make it. :( and I've been really needing to see some comforting faces. This is hard! 34 weeks, and counting down the days! C'mon March 2nd!!

Monday Dec 17th- Names that I am considering today are: Mikayla, Nicolette, Mirabelle, Kalyn, and Lillian.

Friday Dec 14- Today I feel a pain in my lower left side of my belly. I am thinking it's probably growing pains, but I am not sure. I am certainly growing quite a bit. I've already put on 30 lbs, and I know I am going to get bigger. My baby girl likes to move around quite a bit right now. I like calling her my little kung fu figher.

Tues Dec. 11th- Hello! I am in my third trimester and have just discovered this wonderful site! I am so excited to explore and chat with mothers like me! I am having a baby girl, due March 2nd! I just found out about one week ago that I am having a girl. During my second trimester ultrasound, the baby would not cooperate with the sonographer and she wouldn't open her legs, so we had to wait for another ultrasound. Currently, I am into my 28th week. But it feels like it's been a lot longer.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Oh you lucky thing!!!! 8 hrs of contractions, back pains, menstral cramps, I thought today was the day for sure. Went into L&D, no discernable pattern on the contaractions, had an internal though....effaced but no dilation :( Good news is you can dilate in 2 hours...but I'm sure I won't be that fortunate. How exciting for you...are you nervous??

karinaM - Friday, 29 Feb
ohh by the way I am also due the 2 ofmarch and my doc. has not said nothing about inducing he said I will probably go to 41 week. last week at my 38 week app. he said not to far because she could be here any day and at the 39 week app. he said I will go to week 41, how weird is that???, could I have closed instead of dialated more??????well at least you will have your baby soon. good luck again!!!!!!

karinaM - Friday, 29 Feb
just relax and I'm sure the doc. know what he is doing. some women say that inductions are more painfull but look at the bright side you will have your baby with you verry soon. so enjoy the last days of pregnancy and don't get anxious that they say you could extend your labor... I hope everything goes verry well and that you have your baby in your arms soon. good luck and relax!!!!!!

joemamma - Friday, 29 Feb

butterblocksmom - Thursday, 28 Feb
Oh you pooor thing!!! seriously, you sleep somewhere other than your bed to be closer to the bathroom? I don't know...you sound pretty close to popping out baby if that's the case!!! Labour dust...good luck!!!!

CaseyLynn - Sunday, 24 Feb
Thank you so much for the comment, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that is exhausted at this point. Hopefully that will subside. Good luck to you with your baby girl!

wow that's such a good first ultrasound pic!

9mo - Friday, 15 Feb
Yeah check with your doctor on the 6 hour drive. In 'what to expect when you're expecting' it says not to take car trips longer than 1 hour at this stage! Plus, you don't want to be THAT far away if you go into early labour!!

haymiss96 - Thursday, 14 Feb
I'm having my c-section on Wed. the 20th! I had my last dr.s appt today! It was kinda scary...lol. I have to be at the hospital at 8 am and it is scheduled for 11am! So, I will have Logan Jax in my arms next week at this time! I can't wait to kiss my little boy. He is so loved and doesn't even know it. I wish you all the best. Hopefully you will get to take your relaxing trip to the beach. Let me know! Take care and keep in touch...

butterblocksmom - Thursday, 14 Feb
I'd go! For sure!!! It's middle of winter here and I turned down two trips to warm places in the last two months and now I am TOTALLY kicking myself!!!!

haymiss96 - Thursday, 14 Feb
The beach does sound INCREDIBLE... So, I don't want to rain on your parade, but you should check with your dr.! Sorry. Better to be safe than sorry. But, I don't blame you for wanting your feet in the sand! Hope you get to have a little vacation. Take care and congratulations! I saw your from Athens. I live in Athens, Ohio?

first-time-momy - Thursday, 14 Feb
give a call to your doctor and ask her. a month ago I wanted to take a 4 hours trip for 2 days and my doctor did not recommend that. even tho I did not have any complication and no problem. so your doctor knows better ask her and if you take the trip hope you have fun. good luck and take care

angier - Thursday, 14 Feb

nmart23 - Tuesday, 12 Feb
Hi I read somewhere about puting foil or smoe kind of sticky paper over the crib before the baby comes because cats don't like the sound/feeling of it. I guess after time they just leave it alone. I will try and remember where I heard that maybe on baby story or something. Good luck and you will figure something out!

mainemomma - Wednesday, 6 Feb
I have been having that too, sharper pains when I roll over in bed. My stomach feels very tight and full. I am almost sore by morning from sleeping. Let me know if you find anything out but I bet it's just because we're at the end and everything is almost as stretched as it will go!

Red Raspberry Leaf in Pregnancy

For thousands of years midwives of old and chinese herbalists have used herbs with very good results. Most of our allopathic medicines have come from herbs. A safe, commonly used herbal tonic for pregnancy is red raspberry leaf tea.

Brewed as a tea or as an infusion, red raspberry leaf is one of the safest and commonly used tonic herbs for women wanting to get pregnant or for women who are already pregnant. Red Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus) tones the uterus, improves contractions and decreases constipation.

When to use
There are two basic stances on the subject. There is agreement among many clinicians that in the 3rd trimester frequent (2- 3 cups per day of tea or 1 - 2 cups per day of infusion) is beneficial to the uterine and pelvic muscles. Red Raspberry Leaf contains many minerals and vitamins, including vitamin C and calcium. It also contains an alkaloid called fragrine, which lends tone to the uterus.

The more radical stance is that drinking one cup of tea per day in the 1st trimester and 2 cups in the 2nd trimester and switching to the infusion in the 3rd trimester ensures a strong uterus, is good for you nutritionally and prevents miscarriage. Some say it is advised to not use it in the first trimester, particularly if you have a history of miscarriage.

The more conservative stance is that red raspberry leaf can cause minor spotting in the beginning of a pregnancy, and some U.K. midwives claim an increase in miscarriage rates. Contact your midwife, herbalist or physician for more information. If you're thinking about using it, to be safe, just wait until you're 36 weeks along.

What does Red Raspberry Leaf Do? Red Raspberry leaf does not start labor or promote contractions. It is NOT an emmenagogue or oxytocic herb. What it does is help strengthen the pelvic and uterine muscles so that once labor does start the muscles will be more efficient.

Braxton Hicks contractions - As early as six weeks into all pregnancies, the uterus, which is a large muscle, begins to contract rhythmically. These contractions (called Braxton Hicks contractions or `False labor`) are usually irregular and painless, and, because they usually do not cause the cervix to dilate, they do not threaten the pregnancy. They last about one to two minutes.

These contractions might be noticed during the second half of pregnancy, some women don't even notice them.

Why do I have Braxton Hicks contractions?Throughout the pregnancy, the uterus periodically contracts to facilitate better blood flow through the placenta and the fetus. They are also thought to strengthen the uterine muscles and ready them for the normal labor process.

What does a Braxton Hicks contraction feel like? Braxton Hicks contractions aren't usually painful, just uncomfortable. It feels like a tightening of your belly in your lower abdomen and groin.

When is it getting serious? Braxton Hicks contractions that tend to increase in frequency and intensity toward the end of the pregnancy may be misinterpreted as contractions of labor and are sometimes referred to as 'false labor' contractions. Women are not usually aware of cervical dilatation, the stretching and opening of the entrance to the uterus, and cervical dilatation can only be measured by a health practitioner during a pelvic examination.

What to Do when you are experiencing contractions, either painful or painless, anytime during pregnancy, that occur more than four times an hour or are less than 15 minutes apart? You should report this activity to your physician or midwife, and you should be prepared to answer the following questions:
When did the discomfort start?
What is the type and frequency of the contractions?
What were you doing when the symptoms began?
Do you have any other signs or symptoms such as:
menstrual-like cramps that may come and go
abdominal cramps with or without diarrhea
backache that is dull and may radiate around toward the abdomen
vaginal discharge increase or a noticeable change in color pelvic pressure that is constant or intermittent.

While waiting for your provider to return her call, you should:
Stop whatever activity you were doing when the contractions started
lie down with your feet elevated or on your left side
drink two or three glasses of water or juice since these contractions can sometimes be brought on by dehydration.

These activities sometimes cause contractions to subside. If symptoms do not lessen within one hour and you aren't able to get in touch with your health-care provider, you should go to the nearest hospital for further evaluation.

I am TOTALLY having BH but I am also taking a uterine toner which 'exercises' my uterus. It is supposed to make labour shorter (cause your uterus is stronger) AND it will shrink my uterus after giving birth...meaning less of a potbelly perhaps??? I'll send you info on it.

butterblocksmom - Friday, 1 Feb
BH don't normally hurt...it is just your muscles tensing up. If it went away when you flipped sides, do you think it might have been your little princess squishing something? Or lying on a nerve?

cerealcrunch - Wednesday, 30 Jan
hey, thanks for commenting on my poll! and congratulations on the pregnancy-almost at the end! =) thank goodness i dont have to be checked at my appointments. she said it's not necessary because all it does is make me uncomfortable. it's not as if ill be admitted for being dialated. but i MIGHT be induced on monday, the 4th. soo excited!!

butterblocksmom - Tuesday, 22 Jan
Oh yeah, for sure...too close to bed time! Even when I take the Zantac, if I eat to close to bed, I still get the acid in the throat....Try eating earlier. But the Zantac certainly helps with the pain of heartburn throughout the day!
