My name is Candice and my husband is Vin (as of 6/20/08). We live just outside of Boston with my/our 9 year-old son, Trevor. We got pregnant on our first try last October, which was surprising to us both, but resulted in a miscarriage in December. I had a D&C on December 27th. We waited one cycle to start trying again and we finally got our BFP on August 19, the day before our 2 month wedding anniversary. We are very happy and scared, but mostly happy right now. I hope this one sticks for us!

Hi Candice, I do have an appt with my Dr. for this Friday (TWO days!) and they are going to do an u/s. I am excited and scared. I know none of this is in my control, and I just really want to see that heart flikering!!! Thanks so much for the words of encouragement!

we have 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 lovebirds :D it's completely manageable- and i LOVE sitting at lunch/dinner and listening to my two lovies greet my husband and i :D

yah... goodness only knows what is going to happen when we seperate from the military and go back to california. we have it pretty easy right now, but im guessing things will be interesting for a little while! fortunately, chris is enrolled with the VA, and can apply for a no interest loan... we're hoping to buy a house asap. its the only way to go for us, with all the animals.

and im doing a DAMN good job of ignoring being pregnant! i mean, im not drinking vodka and falling down stairs, but ive managed to not be so obsessed this time :D (SO FAR...) so hopefully time wont stand as still as it usually does....

ps. the baby is going to be sharing his room with the cats, and a good air purifyer.

Its so scary at first I completely understand and having that first ultrasound is the most frightening thing but it will get better as the weeks go on... :D where's your turtle tattoo? i have one as well, on the palm-side of my wrist. it's a nice little honu-sea turtle :D it's pretty rad living in hawaii- EVERYTHING has turtles on it (thank you, tourists :D)

we actually decided on just the pirate theme... it's something we both will have fun with, we can start decorating immediately (instead of at 20 weeks).. im just disapointed... when the kid got old enough, i was going to steal her decorations back!!

i LOVE my purple hair! i forget it's purple! i tried being natural for a year, and it's just not me. i mean technically, yah... but at this point i really enjoy hair coloring, my piercings, tattoos, etc! good thing hubby does, too :D

anyway :D im pretty excited :D i think the first thing im going to do is make a baby blanket!!!!!!!

Candice, your story is very inspiring to me because I am also 37 and my last preganancy ended in miscarriage. But I am preggers again - 5w 6d and my first u/s is on Friday the 12th. I am trying not to be too terrified...

Thanks so much for your concern but I don't know what to call it from here. My new OB wasn't in on Friday but I went to do the sonogram and the technician wasn't much of a help. She just told me that the baby was measuring only 4 weeks so I asked her if that meant that it was dead, she said "NO" I just probably have my dates wrong. I'm 26 and have been getting AF since I was 10, I believe I know my body...So I can just call my OB tomorrow and see if she can see me on Tuesday and take it from there. Thanks again

there are several marines i know that are not only nuts, but dangerous and seriously scare me. i've never in my life had to take so many women to airports to get away from their husbands, or had them come crying to our backdoor trying to hide ><
my husband is wonderful, sweet, kind and most of all... PATIENT! it's needed with me (scorpio :).
so have you seen my new kitten photos on myspace? niblet? he's pretty freaking cute, and i think it would be sad if you didnt see him, lol
we havent scheduled an appointment yet. i think we are going to wait a few weeks before going in. i need more prenatals (never stopped taking em) so i will probably stop by the clinic on base for a quick prescription. we're hoping to have an apt. around 8 weeks :)

actively trying?!?! pft, we're on that shit. we're four weeks pregnant :D we found out... TODAY!!! yay for us :D we tried this month- and were going to skip next month (gemini baby...) and were going to try again in october :D YAY! may 15th :D

hi Candice,

I have been told that, a natropath told me to stop taking it after i had ovulated in case i did fall pregnant, apparently it can cause m/c. I was also told that if i did fall pregnant while taking it then to wean off of it, maybe from 3 times a day to 2 times a day then eventually dwon to one then not taking it all. Not sure, thats why i was asking, to see if anyone else had life experiences, it looks good on paper, but it practice? im not sure.

Thank you for the website. I feel really ridiculous for complaining about my body in my last email to you. It looks like many women have body issues before, during, and after pregnancy. Some women, like the brave and wonderful women on that website, chose to post them on the Internet and be proud of their accomplishment instead of hiding like I do. Maybe I should start taking some bare belly photos, espcially if this is the "pretty" time before stretchmarks, excess skin, and more scarring. I want to be proud instead of embarrassed.
