Hey everyone! My husband and I got married on July 5th, 2007 and knew that we wanted children right away! We had been together since high school, which was about 7 1/2 years when we got married. It didn't take long for us to become pregnant. I got off of my birth control in May 2007 and I took my first test in the end of June and it was negative. The next test I took was Aug 3, 2007 and it was positive! I really didn't think that I was pregnant, I just took it because I wanted to confirm that I in fact wasn't, but I was!
Pregnancy for me was not all that fun. I enjoyed the anticipation of having a baby and becoming a mom, but did not enjoy the physical part of being pregnant. If I wasn't working, I would have probably enjoyed it a lot more. I loved feeling my baby move inside of me. That was a very special feeling that is very unique and personal.
My husband and I took childbirthing classes during my 3rd trimester and decided that we were going to try to have our baby "au naturale". I was really into the whole music, scents, shower, and meditation type relaxation techniques. I didn't want to be induced, have an epidural or have a c-section.
In the last month of my pregnancy, my doctor began the cervical exams and from the very first one which was somewhere around 34 weeks, she was sure that I was having a big baby and wanted me induced. Of course I was upset and confused. I was already fully effaced and at 3 cm. She told me that she would be surprised if I was still pregnant in 2 weeks. Well at every visit after that one, I was still only 3 cm and no contractions. She scared me enough into being induced b/c I was terrified of having a big baby and then needing a c-section.
It was Monday, March 31rst, 2008 and we went in at 6 am. Since I was already dilated to 3 cm and fully effaced, the doctor only had to break my water and then have the nurse start the Pitocin. I really thought that my delivery was going to be very quick since, the doctor had been telling me for weeks, that my daughters head was so close and fully engaged. Once I was started on Pitocin, I contracted very painfully for about 2 hours. I was not able to use the shower since I was being induced and was constantly on an I.V. and my mind could not think of anything else but getting something to ease my pain. I eventually had an epidural and in those 2 hours before the epidural, I only dilated 1 more cm to a whole 4 cm. I was in disbelief. Then once I had the epidural, within 2 hours I went from the 4-10! I was shocked when the nurse said I was ready to push. And by this time I thought for sure I was only going to need to push for a short time. The nurse said she would only let me push for 3 hours and if I didn't deliver before then, then we will have to go in for a c-section. I thought "no way, this baby will be here in no time!" Well, after 3 hours of pushing and no movement, the doctor said I needed a c-section. They had the surgeon come in and take a look. Luckily, she said that my daughter was too close and wanted to try to vaccum her out before they proceeded with the c-section. At this point, I was determined to have my baby before they wanted to really take me in for surgery.
And finally after 4 more contractions and the help of the vaccum, my beautiful little baby Kyndal was born. I fell in love.
My heart just melted and everything at that moment changed. It was the best feeling in the world and I can not explain the emotions that I felt. I was now a mommy to this little girl. I have a daughter now and she is my world.
. Yes we picked out a pumpkin, haven't carved it yet...I will wait a week before haloween...so it doesn't rot!!! But it was funny to see her reaction to pumpkins...she just kept looking at them , then looking at me, with this weird look on her face like she was thinking, "What in the heck are these big orange things??" It was very funny!!!
