Tuesday, 22 July As far as midnight bottle feeding. my dr said that you don't have to warm the bottle up and that as long as it's room temp or above it's fine. So I keep a few bottles next to the bed premeasured water in them, and when it's feeding time, I just add the formula! makes it much much quicker.hope it helps! nikki82 -
Tuesday, 22 July hi, i bottle feed my son (i have since he was 1 month old) i did feel bad at first but i have bottles already made up in the fridge so all i have to do is heat them up which the process takes around 1 min (getting out of bed, kitchen and heat up) and as my family told me it is good if he crys a bit - he isnt really a cryer only when he wants something. it is working as he will be 8 weeks on friday and for the last 2 nights gone to sleep around 9-10pm and woken up around 2-3am didnt think it would ever happen!! good luck with it all... 3girls2008 -

Saturday, 12 July I did breastfeed him for a couple weeks and he spit that up too. Guess he just has a really sensitive tummy! I was thinking the same thing though. Men don't think!! LOL We're going to HAVE to switch back the next time we buy formula because it's not good for him to spitting up like that, or that much. So yeah... Men don't think... I'll keep that in mind then next time he does something stupid! embobower -
Friday, 11 July Yes. I put a drop up each nostril then wait about half a minute then suck out the mucus with the aspirator, covering up the other nostril. Works great. Baby moans a bit as it must be a tad uncomfortable but only while i´m doing it. Hope this helps. Sorry I took so long to reply! Rikki -
Thursday, 10 July I had Jaiden on Enfamil and he spit up all the time so i switched him to Nestle good start ad he has been great on it, only spits up if he gets the hiccups while eating(which happens so often)lol..poor guy he hates the hiccups Jaiden weighed 10 pounds 5 ounces at his one month appoin..he was 7#9 when born, so i am curtious how much he is now..he wont get weighed again till his 2 month appoint on aug 1 and he gets his shots! yikes Rikki -

Wednesday, 9 July Thanks! It's amazing how much you forget from the first time around. Although I did breastfeed my first for about 2 months. I remember the growth spurts all too well though! mamadimplez -

Saturday, 5 July thanx for the pic comment..and congratulations on your little girl..she's adorable..Xx tatianamommy -
Friday, 4 July Caleb also was eating every hour to 1.5 hours! What I did was slowly stretch his feeding time by 15 min. So if he ate and an hour and a half later he seemed hungry, I woul give him his pacifer for a few minutes and try to engage him until we were at 1 hour 45min. I would do that a few feedings then try to go to 2hours then 2 and 15 min and so on. Once you start...it will get better! :-) tatianamommy -
Thursday, 3 July Caleb doesn't normally cry when going down for a nap unless he is really tired to begin with. We have also been putting him in his swing to nap ( a big no-no from what I hear and turning out to be true!) He does not sleep through the night yet, but we have only been doing babywise for a week or so. He doesn't cry (normally) when we put him in his bassinet at night but he does fuss some times and it takes about an hour to fall asleep. If he does cry, I'll go in and give him his pacifier. Rarely does he cry so bad that I have to pick him up but it does happen (normally when he doesn't nap good during the day.)
I try to keep him away during a feeding and if he does fall asleep, I'll try to burp him and switch sides but if he won't take the other breast, I figure he is full and I will then try to stimulate him, with songs or patty-cakes or something. He normally will wake up if i start to engage him. The only exception to this is his 9pm feeding If he falls asleep, I let him sleep.
Here is our day:
8:30am - wake up - It's important to have a wake up time and stick to it within 30 min. We wake up between 8:30 and 9am every day. I will start by nursing him in bed and talking to him. The we go and change his diaper and get his dressed in daytime clothes. We then will stay awake for another 30-45 minutes or so and we sing, watch baby einstin or something.
9:30am - Nap Time - Around 9:30ish, he goes in his swing for a nap. He normally will nap until 11am. If he is still sleeping by 11am, I wake him up.
11am - Nurse - he will then play for a bit and we sing and talk then I will bring him in his crib (we don't use the crib at night yet) and lay him in there and turn on the mobile. I'm trying to get him use to the crib. I'm hoping that by 12ish, he falls asleep.
12PM - Nap - Sometimes it works great in his crib, other times he crys and I rub his back and give him a pacifier. If he fights the crib, I'lol lay him in the swing a bit.
1:30Pm - nurse - if he sleeps past 1:30, I wake him up and we do the nurseing...play...getting sleepy thing until 2:30ish
2:30pm - Nap - Swing or crib, depends on the day.
4:00pm - Nurse - (Starting Monday I will be going back to work so I'll nurse at 4pm then have to leave by 4:30pm. but my hubby will keep the schedule going)
5pm - Nap
6:30 - Bottle with Daddy
At this point, we modify the schedule a bit to fit our needs. If Caleb wants to nap after 6:30, he can but we don't try to make him nap and we don't try to keep him up to long after 7pm. 9 times out of 10, he will fall asleep anyhow.
7-8:00 - Nap...maybe...
8:30 - Bath. If he is sleeping, we wake him up for his bath, give him a massage, put his P.Js on then lay down in bed for a bottle/boobie!
9pm - Bottle for Bed - right now I'm nursing him so I will lay down and nurse him and read a book in bed. If he falls asleep, GREAT! If not, I still put him in the bassinet with his pacifier, play his bed time music and I leave the room. Within an hour, he is asleep!
So we are on the 2.5 hour cycle
The hard part for me is that he is still waking up 2-3 times at night. Last night was bad because he was awake at 12am; 3am 5am and 7am. Even if he wakes up early, he still doesn't get out of bed until 8:30am. On a good night, he will sleep from 9ish until 2am then wake up around 5-6am and then get up at 8:30am.
Also, it was really hard for me to find a schedule that worked good for us and also worked with me going back to work (working from 5pm until 11:30pm). We tried the 3 hour cycle and it was just not working for us. the 2.5 cycle works very well! Right now, we have our days down but we still need work at night!
I think what might be getting me at night is the swing. Caleb sleeps great in his swing and acording to the book, the swing is bad because he will get acustom to it. I think they are right! He doesn't sleep as good in the crib or bassinet.
Anyhow, you first need to find a schedule that works for you and the baby...then fine tune it and worry about the million other questions you will have once you have the schedule down! lol
Let me know any other questions you have!! Have you checked out the babywise blog link?

Thursday, 3 July P.S....I just saw your hubby's name is Caleb!! How neat! :-) tatianamommy -
Thursday, 3 July Hahaha! I know exactly what you mean! I got to the whole last page and i was like WTF??!! LOL. That link real is a big help. I bookmarked it as a favorite and I read it several times a day for diffrent topics. I finaly got a GREAT schedule down and it's working out well. Caleb is on a 2.5 cycle. He wakes at 8:30 and nurses then again at 11a; 1:30p; 4p (this will be my last nurseing session as of Monday because I start work) the 6:30p bottle with dad; at 8:30p, dad will wake him from a nap for a bath, massage and book then his last bottle at 8:45/9pm then bed. So far it's been working but I have been nursing him (no bottles yet) and I hope my husband doesn't have a hard time.
Let me know if you have questions and I'll try to help! :-) FIRSTTIMEMOM23 -

Friday, 27 June Hi Cate. I just saw that you left me a comment on my page. I check the sight frequently, but don't always remember to check my page! I hope things are going well for you and Chloe. You probably had your questions answered, but I had been concerned with the amount that my daughter of formula that my daughter was getting. She drinks 3 oz. approx seven to eight times a day (Similac Alimentum). Most websites say that a baby needs 2.5 oz (daily) for each pound that they weigh. I also have read that babies will let you know when they have too much. I noticed this with my daughter because everytime I try to up the ounces, she ends of spitting up! Three ounces are perfect for her at this stage. Also, regarding the bowel movements: after I stopped giving her pumped breast milk, I noticed that she seemed to be getting more constipated (harder stools) and she would cry while she was trying to go. Before this she would go about twice a day. I called the dr. and they told me to give her an ounce of watered down apple or pear juice everyday. I have been doing this for about a week, and it seems to be working for her and she continues to go about twice a day. Anyway, sorry that I didn't get back to you sooner!
