We found out we were expecting quite early. After about 3 years of what my husband calls "not not trying" I had become fairly certain my daughter was going to be an only child. I began feeling nausea very early and really wasn't sure if this was it. I took a test about a week before I should have and it came up positive. I called my doctor after I missed my period and again another positive. He referred me to an OB and 2 weeks after my first test I had an ultrasound. I was only 5 weeks pregnant. It has been a long road so far. I had preterm labor starting at 28 weeks with my daughter but was lucky enough to have her at 371/2 weeks. This time it started at 26 1/2 weeks. I am currently on bed rest and brethine and slowly going stir crazy.

I took the 2nd glucose test today - yes failed the first one. Keep your fingers crossed. Monday I go back to the Doctor to find out the results. While inbetween blood drawings I spoke with another woman there due on the same day. Maybe we will see each other in February. It seems so far off but then again so close. Dave and I toured the labor and delivery area and know where to go and what to do once we have the C section appointment or if this preterm labor gets out of control again. I remember very vividly when I hit 20 weeks and was so excited it was 1/2 over ( actually only seems like last month). It is slowly taking hold that there are only 11 weeks to go until the due date, and possible we could have a very healthy mature baby in only 8 weeks.

Today we went to the Doctor. The Glucose test results were not back yet but I need to start supplementing the vitamins with an iron tab. The Doctor said next visit we need to schedule the C section. Next week we will have the baby's Birthday set!!!! This makes me a bit nervous. When we got home there was a care package from Mom. It was nice. I am still hanging in there without progressing so we should be okay as long as I continue to take it easy.

Tuesday, 11 Dec
Appointment is set for February 8th. As long as we can keep the baby from coming sooner.

Happy New Year! What a year this will be. We went to a New Years Party last night and my daughter ( 7) stayed up til 3 am. I feel like I am paying for it today. I think I am feeling more hung over than my husband from staying up late. We got the crib and changing table this past weekend and paint for the nursery. I am really starting to feel the nesting instinct. Hopefully we can get the nursery together before I go crazy. Bed rest is really making it tougher at this point.

Thursday, 10 Jan

Well another week come and gone. Went to the Dr today. Only 3 more appointments no change but have to drink more water. We got the nursery together this past weekend. It is a bit lighter than I expected. We have the shower coming up on Saturday. I am very excited.

Sunday, 20 Jan

I had a wonderful shower last week. This baby will never be cold or have a lack of clothes. atleast for the next 6 months. I had the flu later in the week. The Dr warned if I get too dehydrated he would have to admit me but zofran seemed to do its job and I held down water. ( but that was about it). The Baby has dropped alot and she keeps getting the hiccups. This morning I woke up and my rings were turning my fingers purple. Time to take them off. I have had them off for about 4 hours but still have the imprints. I am feeling really swollen now. only 19 days until we get to hold our little bundle of joy!!!I am really getting excited now.

Sunday, 27 Jan

The past couple of days have been tough. My back is killing me.Last night I was almost certain I was going into labor. This morning better but my back is still killing me. I am not feeling contractions so I guess I will make it until we go to the DR tomorrow.

Tuesday, 29 Jan

Dr said I have not progressed however the pain is staying constant. Maybe I am just prego and whiny. I go back to the Dr on Thursday. ( twice this week) so he can see if I have progressed any more. still on the meds to keep it in there. I am starting to feel like it is a battle of wills the baby vs the meds and they are using me in the middle. At this point I am betting the baby wins.

Saturday, 2 Feb

We went to the Dr Wed. he wants to keep me on Meds until Monday. He also upped the dosage and I am now taking every 4 hours. This has not been a very good week, but I guess I could have been feeling like this for longer considering. Less than a week from now we will see our newest little girl!!!

Tuesday, 5 Feb

We went to the Dr yesterday and are all set. No more appointments. He wants me to stay on the meds until Thursday night though. I honestly don `t blame him. Yesterday I started getting very sore though. I think my body has had enough and ready for the baby to be self sufficient. Or just stop the labor stuff. I guess according to the countdown less than 3 days left. Kinda scary!

Wondering if you tried having some pictures of baby while you pumped? Oh here is a great idea, take a picture of the baby while you are nursing here. That cute let face nestled up against you sucking.
