hi folks

i had my baby girl, olivia by emergency c-section on the 7th of september at 22:12 and she was 7lb12oz and despite her dramatic and surprise entrance to the world she was perfect apart from covered in poo! lovely.

After having contactions for 3hrs at 3-6mins apart and lasting a min, as a first time mum was reluctant to go to the hospital as didnt fancy being there for another 10-15 hrs, but as hadnt felt babe move since my contractions started we went to the hospital expecting to get monitered and sent home. on arrival went to the midwife dept and she had difficulty finding a heartbeat and when she did it was only going from 50-90per min when it should be between 130-160 so was transferred over to the consultants side, so much for my water birth. when we got over there with every contraction the heartbeat went down and took longer to come back. Then all hell broke loose doctors and nurses started running in and out of the room and we were told that baby had to come now, less than an hour after arriving at the hospital i was in theatre and she was born screaming her head off. Her dad and i were thrilled that all was ok, we stayed in hospital for 4 days and i was desperate to get out. As we live near the coast it was amazing to get out for a walk showing off our new daughter.

She is now 4wks old and is 9lb4oz and it is all in length. We are doing both breastfeeding and bottle feeding as this fits in with our lifestyle well and as she is growing so much it is obviously not doing her any harm. She has changed so much and has already lost that newborn look. It has been the most amazing time and after having waited almost 5yrs for her to come it has been everything and more that i could have wished for.

Hi! My baby has eczema as well. I switch doctor because his old doctor kept on asking me to use Aguaphor. My baby hates it and it didn't help a bit. It only soften the skin but didn't help his red patches disappear. Now my new doctor gave me special eczema cream called Elidel cream and Desonate Gel. These cream are only use of eczema. There both work great. He is less itchy and red patches/rash are gone. Could you believe that, I've been using Aguaphor oitment and I just found out that kids with eczema can't use oitment. I hope it help.

Hi my doc. said my baby had eczema/dry skin too I started rubbing olive oil on her skin after soap in the bath and I used a fine tooth comb and my finger to scratch the dry skin off her head and eyebrows. Her eyebrows were so dry I put raw honey on them(honey and milk is a natural moisterizer)I just did the honey a few times but continue with the olive oil it worked well and it all went away, I also take cod liver oil, it's high in omega-3's. My doctor was impressed. I dont know if it's the same, just thought I could help. Take care.

My baby has baby eczema too. (The non-itchy or pussy milder form.) I put Hydrocortisone cream on it twice a day, and it seems to be helping.

thank you for the advice. I think I'll try it out and see if I like it.

Thank you so much! Sorry to hear what your mother had to go through. PPD wasn't really even treated back then. That's why it is so frustrating today, that even though it IS treatable, we don't hear enough about it, and therefore are afraid to seek help when we need it. The only reason I was in tune with needing help so early on, was because my mother suffered from depression when I was growing up, and I was determined to never let my kids go through what I did. I really thought I was losing it at the beginning before I found out more. If I hadn't grown up the way I did, I don't know how long I would have let myself suffer, which would in turn have caused my kids as well as my hubby to suffer. Thanks again for your comments!=)
