Well, I'm now in week 13 which is fabulous. The morning sickness is finally starting to abate (with the help of medication unfortunately). It's been a full 48 hours since I've been sick and hopefully it continues. Yay! This is the first pregnancy for both my husband and I and we are very excited that after 5+ years of marriage we are now hopefully going to be parents. Good luck to everyone out there and here's to healthy and sickness-free pregnancies for everyone.
January 30th (week 15): so far week 15 is proving to be somewhat better than other weeks. I'm still dealing with m/s but some days are better than others (still haven't thrown up today, yay!). I'm also dealing with acne but that's cleared up a wee bit. Sort of not feeling very sexy though as it's hard to when you're puking and your face/chest/neck/back are covered in spots. Oh well, I guess it's all worth it. I can't wait until July (it will be nice and warm and we'll all hopefully have our healthy and happy babies). Right now I'm just waiting for January to be over and the weather to break (it's been about -35C for the last few days and it's getting rather old...). Hopefully February will bring some answers as to what colour I should have my husband paint the nursery. It will also be nice to meet my new doctors (my doctor doesn't do prenatal care so she's referred me to a group of specialists in town) and get the BIG u/s done. I hope you are all doing well and I look forward to chatting with everyone.
Feb.11th (17 weeks): well, I went for my second Dr's appointment today and all looks good. I've gained a bunch of weight (which surprised me considering I've been sick the whole time). There have been some days when I haven't thrown up though so I guess I packed on the pounds on those days. The top of my uterus is just above my belly button which is apparently right on track. I also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time which was quite exciting (right in the 150's where it should be) and the little bean was moving around a bunch which was quite exciting considering it's daytime. I can always hope for good luck in that this little person will be good to mommy and will have their days and nights figured out right from the start and won't be awake all night. Here's hoping! I have an appointment with my new doctors (prenatal and L&D team) on the 19th and it's then that they'll give me a requisition for the BIG u/s. I can't wait! I hope you are all doing well.
Feb. 19/08 (18 weeks): well, I finally got in to see my prenatal doctor and it went pretty well. They've changed my due date from the 21st to the 24th upon evaluation of my early ultrasound. Oh well, I guess I kind of expected it as my cycle is pretty irregular. Other than that, the appointment was fabulous. I got to hear the heartbeat again and the baby was moving all over the place again so we had to chase it a bit. I was also able to record it for my husband which he found quite exciting as he hasn't heard the heartbeat yet. We heard it moving, heard the heartbeat, heard some hiccups and the baby even kicked the doppler a few times. It was so precious. I have my u/s booked in now too (in exactly two weeks). I'm so excited! We get to see the baby again (especially now that it looks like a little person) and maybe get to find out if it's a boy or a girl. The countdown is on!
Mar. 5/08 (19 weeks): we had the second u/s yesterday which went fabulously. We saw the brain (with two hemispheres), kidneys, heart (beating away as it should), arms, legs, hands, feet, spine, ribs, eyes, mouth, nose (thank goodness it doesn't appear to take after its Dad
Mar. 12/08 (20 weeks): Well, we just had our 3D/4D u/s and it was fabulous! We got to watch baby wiggling around for over 45 minutes. We also got tons of pictures. At first, my husband wasn't able to watch as he was trying to run tech support for our parents out in the lobby (they were trying to view the u/s via webcast, but it wasn't working properly). Eventually he finally gave up on that to come see his baby for himself. As the whole thing was being recorded we can just send the DVD to our parents for them to see everything that went on. We've already sent them pictures as there were quite a few. And baby co-operated with us this time and showed us the bits. We are thrilled to say "It's a BOY!!" Yay! I think my dad is super excited as this is going to be the first boy for him since his dad passed away almost 50 years ago (he has sisters himself and ended up with two daughters), so I think it's super exciting for him to be welcoming a grandson. He's already calling all his family to tell them. Well, I'm totally excited, can't wait to go shopping for little boy things and especially can't wait to hopefully welcome a healthy little baby boy into the family in a few more months. I hope you are all doing well. TTFN.
Mar.24/08 (week 22): I saw the baby kick for the first time today and it was so neat. It looked like a little portion of my belly just bumped out on it's own. It's neat to see actual, physical proof that there is someone in there. My husband wasn't home, so I called my dad to let him know and he was pretty excited that he was the first to know. He said it gave him a bit of an "Alien" flashback. I guess I have a little alien inside me then... TTFN.
