Well, I'm now in week 13 which is fabulous. The morning sickness is finally starting to abate (with the help of medication unfortunately). It's been a full 48 hours since I've been sick and hopefully it continues. Yay! This is the first pregnancy for both my husband and I and we are very excited that after 5+ years of marriage we are now hopefully going to be parents. Good luck to everyone out there and here's to healthy and sickness-free pregnancies for everyone.

January 30th (week 15): so far week 15 is proving to be somewhat better than other weeks. I'm still dealing with m/s but some days are better than others (still haven't thrown up today, yay!). I'm also dealing with acne but that's cleared up a wee bit. Sort of not feeling very sexy though as it's hard to when you're puking and your face/chest/neck/back are covered in spots. Oh well, I guess it's all worth it. I can't wait until July (it will be nice and warm and we'll all hopefully have our healthy and happy babies). Right now I'm just waiting for January to be over and the weather to break (it's been about -35C for the last few days and it's getting rather old...). Hopefully February will bring some answers as to what colour I should have my husband paint the nursery. It will also be nice to meet my new doctors (my doctor doesn't do prenatal care so she's referred me to a group of specialists in town) and get the BIG u/s done. I hope you are all doing well and I look forward to chatting with everyone.

Feb.11th (17 weeks): well, I went for my second Dr's appointment today and all looks good. I've gained a bunch of weight (which surprised me considering I've been sick the whole time). There have been some days when I haven't thrown up though so I guess I packed on the pounds on those days. The top of my uterus is just above my belly button which is apparently right on track. I also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time which was quite exciting (right in the 150's where it should be) and the little bean was moving around a bunch which was quite exciting considering it's daytime. I can always hope for good luck in that this little person will be good to mommy and will have their days and nights figured out right from the start and won't be awake all night. Here's hoping! I have an appointment with my new doctors (prenatal and L&D team) on the 19th and it's then that they'll give me a requisition for the BIG u/s. I can't wait! I hope you are all doing well.

Feb. 19/08 (18 weeks): well, I finally got in to see my prenatal doctor and it went pretty well. They've changed my due date from the 21st to the 24th upon evaluation of my early ultrasound. Oh well, I guess I kind of expected it as my cycle is pretty irregular. Other than that, the appointment was fabulous. I got to hear the heartbeat again and the baby was moving all over the place again so we had to chase it a bit. I was also able to record it for my husband which he found quite exciting as he hasn't heard the heartbeat yet. We heard it moving, heard the heartbeat, heard some hiccups and the baby even kicked the doppler a few times. It was so precious. I have my u/s booked in now too (in exactly two weeks). I'm so excited! We get to see the baby again (especially now that it looks like a little person) and maybe get to find out if it's a boy or a girl. The countdown is on!

Mar. 5/08 (19 weeks): we had the second u/s yesterday which went fabulously. We saw the brain (with two hemispheres), kidneys, heart (beating away as it should), arms, legs, hands, feet, spine, ribs, eyes, mouth, nose (thank goodness it doesn't appear to take after its Dad ), a bladder (which is functioning as it was full of liquid - now there's a thought!) and all the other little bits a baby should have by this time. The u/s tech said that baby was right on track for growth at this stage and was moving around nicely. In fact, baby even kicked me a few times, but I didn't feel it. Oh well, I'm sure that will come in the next few weeks as it grows more. The only downer (and it's a very small downer as I'm just so happy to hear all the great news about baby being healthy) is that it wouldn't show off for the tech and we couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl. It was all curled up, legs together with one hand on a knee covering the area, so I guess we'll just have to wait. We are doing a 3D u/s next week though so maybe baby will reveal itself to the tech then so we can have our "sex party" to reveal the sex of the baby to our families. I hope everyone here is doing well. TTFN

Mar. 12/08 (20 weeks): Well, we just had our 3D/4D u/s and it was fabulous! We got to watch baby wiggling around for over 45 minutes. We also got tons of pictures. At first, my husband wasn't able to watch as he was trying to run tech support for our parents out in the lobby (they were trying to view the u/s via webcast, but it wasn't working properly). Eventually he finally gave up on that to come see his baby for himself. As the whole thing was being recorded we can just send the DVD to our parents for them to see everything that went on. We've already sent them pictures as there were quite a few. And baby co-operated with us this time and showed us the bits. We are thrilled to say "It's a BOY!!" Yay! I think my dad is super excited as this is going to be the first boy for him since his dad passed away almost 50 years ago (he has sisters himself and ended up with two daughters), so I think it's super exciting for him to be welcoming a grandson. He's already calling all his family to tell them. Well, I'm totally excited, can't wait to go shopping for little boy things and especially can't wait to hopefully welcome a healthy little baby boy into the family in a few more months. I hope you are all doing well. TTFN.

Mar.24/08 (week 22): I saw the baby kick for the first time today and it was so neat. It looked like a little portion of my belly just bumped out on it's own. It's neat to see actual, physical proof that there is someone in there. My husband wasn't home, so I called my dad to let him know and he was pretty excited that he was the first to know. He said it gave him a bit of an "Alien" flashback. I guess I have a little alien inside me then... TTFN.

I'm glad everything is going so well for you! I completely sympathize about the morning sickness - mine seems to have come back with a vengeance as well this last couple weeks. Hopefully everything comes back ok with those tests for you. I've actually stopped working - my hips were getting way too sore to be taking care of someone confined to a wheel chair so, home I am. It's good though, keeps me relaxed. I'm getting really excited to meet this baby though!

Hi...yes warm weather will be nice...however... Im afraid I'll get overheated. I always used to be cold...and now I sweat to death! Anyways... Warmer weather to me means it's almost time to leave work... I can't wait! I'm taking Mat.Leave on June 23/08...and I'm counting down the days... I can't imagine how I'll feel in June..but already I hate coming in I'm so tired and big.. I'm having a Stampede baby...(July 8-10)...so I'll be out of the downtown core by then..which is nice! Hope things are going well!

Congrats on your little boy!!! I was wondering where you had your 3d/4d ultrasound done. I did mine at UC baby (or EC I forget)... anyways...I came in to peak at your page to see what you were having!

alia999 - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Congrats!!!!! Everybody seems to be having a boy this year! Do you have any names? We're zeroing in on one but still unsure, less than 7 weeks to go for me and this guy is dancing up a storm, I think he does the chicken dance, don't know why it's just what it feels like.

aww congratulations i am seeting up to get a 3D ultrasound a little later on they are just soo cool but my military insurance doesnt cover one i guess so im going outside the hospital any names picked out yet??

lizzie287 - Wednesday, 12 Mar
That's fantastic! Congrats! We're still tossing the 3D idea around, but I think it's gonna be a no go .. Ryan just doesn't want clarification on the sex anymore, what we got is good enough for him and I won't make the drive alone :( So sad, oh well. Life goes on.

lizzie287 - Thursday, 6 Mar
Wow I expected it to be much more than that. Hmm now you got me thinking ;) lol. I'm still hangin in there. Been getting absolutely brutal headaches for the past couple months but I'm working through them, and every once in a while I still get nauseous. Oh well. The joys of pregnancy I guess. How about you?

lizzie287 - Wednesday, 5 Mar
Hey, I dont blame you, I want one too just because I think the pictures would look really cool in the baby's baby book lol. Do you mind though if I ask how much it costs? (I'm still not totally against going for the 3D and I haven't been able to find actual costs for it in Canada). If you're not comfortable, no worries, I totally understand ;)

lizzie287 - Wednesday, 5 Mar
Oh that's exciting! I want a 3D ultrasound - do you have to pay for it?? The only thing is I'm so not willing to travel to Calgary for something that's not necessary and not guaranteed. Plus, Ryan now doesn't want to know for sure. The ultrasound went well, but the umbilical cord was between her legs. However, she did give us a nice bum shot where we're pretty sure we distinctly saw labia. You never know though, the cord could have been tight in there and squeezing the skin? I dunno. I'm saying it's a girl and sticking to it! lol

megcantwaitforherfirst - Tuesday, 4 Mar
howd ur us go?? could u tell the sex i had mine today and found out it was a girl

lizzie287 - Thursday, 21 Feb
Thanks for the info. glad to see I'm not alone being so sick! My ultrasound is March 4 too, we're hoping to find out the sex :) Best of luck to ya!

alia999 - Thursday, 14 Feb
HI, we don't know for sure yet what we're having, but we think it's a boy, he was very tricky at the U/S but both the tech and I saw definite penis there if only for a second. I'm looking forward to the nice weather too but I have a feeling the flu thats been sweeping my house will be making it's final rounds so I'm not planning anything I think there should be a rule pregnant or sick not both!!!!!!! Take care

alia999 - Thursday, 7 Feb
Hey Congrats! I think it is more than fair to say plus 4 is warm considering what we had to compare it to. I am really hoping this is winter's last gasp as I am looking forward to walking my kids to and from school without having to spend 20 minutes bundling up beforehand! The pregnancy has been pretty good although I may not have answered the same way a couple of months ago and probably won't a month from now! The hormones are back with a vengence but aside from that things are rolling right along less than 14 weeks, it's surreal! You must be super excited this being your first, are you hoping for a girl or boy? Do you have any names picked out?

momofthree - Wednesday, 6 Feb
Hi there! Thanks for your post, and congrats on your pregnancy. I believe I'll be delivering at the Rockyview as well. That is where they have me assigned anyways..so hopefully it's not too busy. I had my first son at Foothills and it was pretty good there also, but rockyview is closer to home. Feel free to keep in touch!

Nikosmommy - Friday, 1 Feb
Hey there, congrats on the pregancy. How have things been so far?!

tdawn - Tuesday, 29 Jan
Hi, Congrats on your pregnancy! Thanks for the info on the friable cervix, I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday, so will make sure to ask my doctor if that is a possibility. Are you still spotting, or has it stopped? I haven't had spotting since the 11th thankfully, but it would be good to know the reason for the spotting when/if it happens again. How are you feeling at this stage of pregnancy?

canadianmom - Sunday, 27 Jan
