We got to the hospital at 8am Jan 17th, I went to triage and so many nurses came and discussed the procedure to me over and over again. Everyone was sooo nice!! I was kinda nervous, this was the first surgery I ever had or ever been hospitalized. As 9:40 came around they wheeled me to the operating room when I began crying, I couldn't believe I was about to meet my baby girl. I was given a spinal epidural which was a bit uncomfortable at first but after that, I felt nothing below my chest. They had the radio playing while they were doing the surgery. They began around 10:10am and at 10:20 I heard my baby crying and just began balling. I remember the song that was playing was Justin Timberlake, until the end of time. My mom was in the room with me the whole time and after they checked the baby out, she bought her to me. I was speechless!! So while they stapled me up I got to hold my baby and we took pics. They weighed her at 9lbs 8 oz and 21 1/4 inc long. After I was wheeled to recovery with my baby and once I got the feeling back in my legs, I was able to breastfeed Alanna. She latched on the first time with no problem. My baby stayed with me the whole time which was wonderful. The recovery was the hardest part, afterward I felt a little nauseous and vomitted twice but once I got into my room, I got some pain medication and I was up walking by the next day.

Breastfeeding has been going very well. Igot my milk on day 2 and baby girl loves to eat!! I just wish she would wake up so I can play with her. We just got home today, Jan 20 and I cant stop staring at her. I feel so blessed right now and can't wait to have baby #2!!

Alanna is now almost 6 weeks! The time has flew by so fast. I can't believe 6 weeks ago I was prego. Alanna is changing so much by the day. She's gained weight, now weighing 12lbs 4oz. She's eating very well and breastfeeding is going great. Its our special time together that both of us enjoy. She got one shot last week at the doctors and is getting 4 more in 3 weeks. I think I'm gonna cry!!

hi there - my baby is 11 days old and have been breastfeeding as well. i give him the pacifier for no more than an hour or two a day right now so that he doesn't get nipple confused. i would just start out slow and possibly increase the length of time you give it to her as she gets more practice breastfeeding. a lactation specialist told me that it's okay to start them out on the pacifier about 1 week after they're born to make sure they get plenty of practice =).

emmapants - Sunday, 3 Feb
I know they say that you should wait 3 weeks before switching between bottle and breast so I would think the same thing would go for a pacifier. I think the best is a pacifier that looks most like a bottle nipple and not the ones that are flatter with the indent in the middle. I haven't used a pacifier but my baby is 5 days old and we're having breast feeding issues so I've been having to breastfeed and supplement with breast milk. She doesn't seem to have a problem switching between breast and bottle. Good luck.

lukas is the same age i gave him a pacifier the day we got out of the hospital and i feed him breast milk from a bottle when we go out with no problems

congratulations on your baby. give her a pacifier after nursing should not cause her to get upset. I used to give my son one after nursing him and he nursed till he was 14 months. so you should be fine

Hey mommy! How are you and baby doing? Sorry so late getting your message just been so busy at work and home I really havent had the time too log on. But I try my best to when I have a break. My baby is on the bottle. I had to switch formulas due to her spitting up soooo much. It was terrible thru the nose and mouth. But the switch was good though.
