Hi! James and I are expecting our first baby. The range of emotions for us both is crazy...excited, happy, nervous, scared, etc. I was told that conceiving was going to be very hard for me, so when I turned up pregnant - I was in complete shock. I thought I was coming down with the flu and I didn't believe the doctor when she came in and said the urine test was positive. Once we both got over the shock, we were excited and started making all kinds of plans. There's so much to think about when having a baby. My mind has been swarmed with thoughts of everything I need to do to get ready for the baby to arrive. I've had "All day" sickness as opposed to morning sickness. I'm a high school teacher and throwing up in a trashcan in front of the class isn't very dignified. I am looking forward to the first trimester ending so that I can wake up without feeling sick to my stomach. I've had fun looking at names and trying to find just the right one! I go back and forth between wanting to know and not wanting to know the sex of the baby. Knowing makes it easy to shop but there's something exciting about not knowing.
March 17
We went last week for the second ultrasound. The first was done on Valentine's day and was done to make sure the baby had dropped to the right place since I have some ovarian issues. The ultrasound last week showed the baby playing - it was wiggling its legs and bouncing. It was crazy to see it do that because I can't feel it at all. The heart was beating and that made me feel so much better. I kept having these terrible thoughts that it was going to be still born or something. So, it was a good visit and helped put many of my fears at rest.
