Baby Jakes Birth Story

I had my induction date set for Wednesday 3rd April but on Wednesday morning there were no free beds so I had to wait until Thursday at 7:30am which made me 10 days overdue. When we arrived at the hospital I was checked over my cervix was still low and soft but only dialated to 1cm. I had been having contractions for the past 4 hours that were spaced apart about 8 minutes. They decided not to start me on the pitocin drip as I was showing signs that things were progressing naturally so they decided to give me one dose of cervical gel to see if that would help things along a little faster. The gel was inserted and I had to stay in bed for an hour whilst It all absorbed. I could feel the contractions becoming stronger within 30 minutes of the gel. We decided to walk around in hope that it would get things speeded up so I plodded up and down the hospital. By 2pm my contractions had kicked in and were now about 4 minutes apart but I could still talk and walk around through them so they were'nt causing me to much trouble. At 3:30 pm I was put back on the monitor to check Jake and when I was examined I had dialated to 4cm and was 100% effaced so they left me to carry on labouring naturally on my own.

At 7pm the contractions were becoming really painful and I was starting to find it hard to breath through them I certainly could'nt walk or speak through these one's now. Ian and the midwife ran me a hot bath to try and help with the pain. It did'nt take any of the pain away but it helped me to relax and I could control my breathing again.After an hour in the bath I started being really sick so I got out and headed back to my room were I was given a shoot of diamorphine.I felt really relaxed then even though I was still aware of the contractions. Ian headed home just after my injection to quickly get changed from me being sick everywere! Within a hour of the shoot my pain was unbearable going right they way across my stomach and in my back. I did'nt want to buzz as the midwife had told me it should last about 3 hours so I thought I must have been a wimp. At 1am I could'nt take it the contractions were a minute apart and my back pain was unreal. I buzzed for the midwife and when she came in she said I could now have a injection of pethidine.When she returned with it I was in tears and she sat and monitored my contractions with her hand on my stomach she said she wanted to examine me as they were a minute apart and to hold back on the second injection. I was now dialted to 7cm.

She went to telephone Labour and Delivery and when she came back to speak to me she told me they were full. I just broke down I had no pain relief now not even gas and air and I kept feeling pressure In my bottom.I felt so upset that I was in full blown labour on a ward with 4 other women in the beds next to me listening in.The midwife was great she sat with me guiding me through the breathing telling me it would'nt be long and not to push just to ignore the urge. After an hour a room became free.They brought the poor women who had just had her baby on to the antenatal ward as postnatal was full and as they wheeled me out they wheeled her into my bay with her new baby.

I was given gas and air as soon as we got in the labour room and was examined again I was still at 7cm and had'nt made anymore progress in that past hour.I was given an epidural and monitored closely but Jake's heartrate kept diping with my contractions. The doctor came in and said he thought he could be pressing against the cord so they had me move from side to side but it would still dip with some of the contractions. So they then came to the conclusion it could be losely wrapped round his neck. They then preformed a fetal blood sample. I had to have my legs put up into stirrups they broke my waters at the same time then had to take two samples of blood from his head which then had to be check for there oxygen levels. I just could'nt seem to get passed being 7cm and my contractions were hitting 100% on the monitor. The results did'nt come back good from the samples so I had to be moved on to my side again to try and get things going and they started me on the pitocin to speed up the last few centimetres.After a hour on the pitocin drip his heartbeat dropped and he was in distress so it was all systems go for a emergency c-section.

At 11:35 am my beautiful little boy made his first loud cry as he was brought into the world weighing a very healthy 8lbs 11 1/2 ozs. It was the most amazing moment of my life.He had the cord around his neck and because of the o/p position he had been in he was stuck hence me not being able to get past 7cm from 1am until 11am. His poor little head was all swollen and cone shaped were the contractions had been pushing it into my pelvis bone but it's slowly starting to go down now.Were both doing well I can't wait to be back on my feet. I would do it all over again for him I am totally in love with him I could'nt ask for more.x

thanks for that! i hope all is well with you too! im finding the breastfeeding and topping up with bottle really tiring. just havingto grab a little sleep whenever i can! i know it will get easier but its just gettin through the next couple of months! im really enjoying beng a mum again but its harder this time around as im aot older and also have a teenager!!! they are hard enoug! anyway enough of me moaning my advice would be if you are thinking of having some more little ones in the future then have one without the big age gap! jake is so gorgeous and growing so quickly. i cant believe Kaan is over two weeks now. well hun i will catch up with you soon sorry for the delay in replying just really busy. take care xxxxxx

Hi I love the Buzz it is a dream to push, have you got all the bits for it??? The carry cot doesn't sit up but loads of room, Harvey likes it The car seat bit is great and really handy for in and out of the car and the big bit lasts till they about 2 I think!!! What colour did you get???? Harvey was fine with the 1st injection but really cried with the 2nd but I was brave this time Ha!! He been a little wingy tonight so give him some medicine and he gone to bed!!! My big baby back from his trip and he loved every minute of it. Are you doing anything good over the weekend??? we are not doing much as we having a new Bathroom suite fitted next week and having it all tiled so busy preparing all that (well Dave is Ha!!) x x x

Hi can't beleive how they are both developing at the same rate. Yes Harvey dribbles all day long, i'm using 5-6 bibs a day and yes everything in his mouth, he still not realised if he sticks his fingers far enough down his throat it makes him sick Ha!!!!! Don't worry about the baby bump I still have mine but I will be honest apart from walking I haven't done any other excercise so need to get my head in gear. Shame we don't live near each other then we could watch the boys in turn whilst we did some excercise Ha!!!! Got Harvey injections tomorrow I am so scaed cause going on my own I really have just got to be brave. I said to Dave tonight I don't know why I am such an emotional reck but when it comes to my kids I go to peices. I bet you have all those feelings now, you love your family, friends, husband but there is no love like the one you have for your kids!!!! I said to Dave it actually hurts cause you want to protect them so much and I think cause Lloyd now getting older it scary cause he going into the big bad world more and more. This month is going to be crazy for me, I have got Lloyds leaving asembly, the day he actually leaves and then his leaving party, i just can't cope Ha!!! My big baby growing up!!!! Harvey been sleeping really well during the night and sleep quite a lot in the day. If I am out he will sleep loads and if we are in the house he has a sleep every couple of hours!!! Put him in one of those grobags cause I kept waking up and his covers were over his head where he had kicked them and it really scared me so put him in that and its great!!! Took him to mums & tots today and he did his dad his first picture sticking paper with glue. He loves sitting on my knee at the end when we sing nursery rhymes his fav is row row row the boat, he screams laughing!!! Well of to bed now cause want to get up with Dave to give him his presents before work (4.30am!). Take care x x x

Hi how are you all?? Thought I would write u a quick note whilst i'm sat her on my own, Lloyd went away this morn and it was awful, I was the only mum crying I felt so stupid but I was so upset about him going. I came home and sat and cried for 1 hour then decided to pull myself together and take Harvey to baby massage which did me good cause it took my mind of it!!! Had him weighed today he is now 15lb 7oz and she said he doing really well!!! He started rollong over today onto his front but he gets his arms caught so can't move Ha!!! Its so funny but no more getting him ready on the seatee Ha!!! Been shopping all afternoon in the Trafford Centre as its Daves birthday on Friday and didn't have a clue what to buy him, the only problem when the sales are on is they bring all the rubbish out and I cannot be bothered rooting it has to jump out at me Ha!!! Managed to get him some aftershave of the kids and I have bought him some clothes and made appointment for him to have Harveys name tatooed on his chest with ours. He will be really pleased with that cause he wanted it doing since he was born but never got the time!!! Supposed to be going out on Sat night but Lloyd in a cricket final on Sunday morning at 9am so decided to do it another day when we can relax rather than worring about rushing the next day!!! Hope your all ok and Jake being a good boy at night, it was ashame about when you went out boys are little softies (that what I love). Well I have probably bored you silly but Dave gone to bed early as he has been getting up at 4.30am for work and Harvey went to bed at 8.30pm tonight so I am a billy no mates. hi hun and thanks alot for the message. i hope you are all well it sure sounds like you have your work cut out too! but they are so worth it. i am finding the breast feeding so exausting. he would be on for hours if i let him! last night i got two hours sleep and di i feel lcrap today! there is so little time for yourself and im finding that so hard to as i have a teenager to and a dog that was my bay and was used to me walking him but i aint got the time now! i have had a few day of the baby blues too! how about you? did you have that? i could cry at the slightest thing! i love being a mum its just hard at the moment and the breast feeding is new to me as i bottle Brent. Anyway i do appreciate any advice though! well i better go now whilst Kaan is sleeping and try and get a couple of hours!keep in touch hun! baby jake is gorgeous and you look great too! take care xxxxx

First of all THANK YOU to all for your support. It turns out that my period wasn't my period at all.....

I miscarried... My doctor said it was a premature miscarriage.. the fetus did not have a chance to attach itself before my body rejected the pregnancy... PLEASE PRAY FOR ME..... LOVE TO ALL

Hi how are you all??? How is the sleeping going??? Have you booked your christening yet??? Were all fine in sunny Manchester, Harvey still sleeping 9 till 6-7am he is a little darling!!! Went to lloyd football presentation on fri night it was great he got player of the year he is a goalkeeper and is really talented so he deserved it, obviuosly i was really proud. Not got a good week ahead, lloyd going away for 3 nights with the school on wednesday for adventure holiday, I will break my heart when he goes cause he only ever been with family but he can't wait, then Harvey has his 2nd injections on fri which is Daves birthday. Ha!!! Really not looking forward to this week. Supposed to be going out Sat night on our own but will have to see how he is!! Has Jake got his this week??? Have you had a good weekend??? Just thought I would write before I go to bed cause never get a chance during the day x x x

Hi Had his pictures done today and they are fantastic!!!! You should book him in its only �10 for the sitting and you get a A4 size picture with that but then they take some lovely poses I was spoilt for choice!!! Had him weighed again today he is 15lb 4oz the little fatty, he still taking 5 oz every 3 hours during the day but then sleeps all night so what more can i ask for. Get my pics in 2 weeks so will try and put them on the computer so you can have a look, enjoy ironing!!! HA!!! x x x

Hi really nice to hear from you!!! Had a good weekend but saturday was really wet and cold and the tournament went ahead!!! I was stood till from 9am till 4pm freezing cold!!! Dave mum came and picked Harvey up so he was ok!!! Glad Jake started sleeping its great isn't it, thats what Harvey started doing 9-7am he gets up then has a bottle sits laughing, eating his fists then after about an hour he back to sleep for at least an other hour. Ha!!! He loves it!!! Its 6.20am now and him and Lloyd are still snoring and i'm up doing the ironing cause will be out all day!! Its baby massage today then need to go shopping cause its Lloyds presentation on Friday night so need a new top!!! How u doing with your weight??? I just can't shift it but need to get my head round it a bit more. We have just been invited to a wedding in sept so that should give me incentive to do something as I really want to look nice!!! We are going to wait till about Sept - Oct for Harvey christening cause a lot of our family and friens go away during summer so decided to wait till the holiday season was over!!! Never heard of that next art before just had a quick go on it. I have Harvey booked in Mothercare for his pictures I can't wait!!! HArvey just growing so fast I can't beleive its 3 months on Friday!!! Well better get back to the ironing before hes awake. Take care x x x

hi, nice to hear from you! its strange for me to check this today as ive neglected it for a while! glad to hear your both doing fine, and jake's looking very cute!!! im loving your new hair colour!!
bump is getting big! 2 weeks monday, but am expecting to go over due as i did with the girls!! so could be 4 weeks!! have decided on a name for him finally!! matt's chosen Elijah, which i have fallen in love with!! Baby Eli!! have everything ready, and im even packed for the hospital! just finding it uncomfortable now his head is really low and rubbing my cervix! which feels like a stretch and sweep!!
will keep up the updates and will speak soon!!

Don't you just hate it when people stare at you when kids are crying and to not even help you that awful, I bet you felt like crying!!! Harvey did his best sleep last night, I put him in bed at 10pm and he slept right through till I woke him at 8.30pm this morn!!! he is a little darling. Went to a body shop party last night so treated myself to some nice stuff, I kept ringimg Dave whist I was there and he said I am quite capable of bathing him and getting ready for bed but I was saying do this and do that Ha!!! Although he had done everything perfect the house was a tip!!!! Not sure what to do about going away now i'm just worried about Harvey in the heat, going to Trafford Centre for tea tonight and will have a look in the travel agent and see how I feel, I wish I didn't worry so much. I am a born worrier!! Lloyd got a football tournament all day tomorrow so its picnic packed and out for 9am!!! Just hope the weather ok or it will be a nightmare!!! Hope you all have a good weekend!! x x

God that is so funny kids are so upfront they make me laugh!!! I know what you mean about wanting to give them all the attention i said that to Dave but just going to see how it goes I might change my mind when he stars teething bad and starts waking in the night again Ha!! Went to Dave neice birthday party on st and she had the most amazing Dora birthday cake so we sat Harvey next to it cause he was as big, I have added a couple of picture on my site. Don't know how you put them on the main page???? Lloyd had induction day at high school today and he loved it, he wouldn't let me take him he wanted to walk with his friends so I cried all morning cause my other baby doesn't need me as much and its really awful!!! I'm dreading Sept. Glad Jake feeling better, they are a constant worry, Harvey had a day of not feeding very well on Sunday and yesterday but as he has put weight on they said not to worry!!! You latest picture of Jake is lovely I can't beleive how much he is changing!!! How mad are we 10 weeks old and we are after doing it all again!!! x x

Hi How are you all??? Hows the sleeping going??? Harvey still doing good had him weighed today 14lb 8oz little fatty!!! Took him to baby massage again and there was a little 3 week old baby girl, I only realised how big Harvey was when I saw her, god it made me broody for another one!!! Dave should have his appoint tonight for the snip but we have both agreed to cancel it cause i am really undecided weather to have another one cause Harvey been so good!!! Nobody can beleive it cause I was adamant he was the last Ha!!! I still loving every minute of him and he is devloping such a little character laughing, pulling my hair and trying to bite my nose all the time!!! He still not mastered that if you stick your fingers down your throat it will make you choke and he does it about 10 times a day Ha!!! Looking to book a holiday tonight, we have decided to have a week in Spain in August whilst Dave of so need to diet bigtime, I cannot move the baby belly it really getting me down. How you doing with your weight??? Any tips??? Hope your all well x x
