Okay just got back from the dr I am 3cm dialated 80% effaced and her head is at a +1. I have been having contractions every 5 minutes for an hour now and boy do they hurt. I am going to drink a couple glasses of water to see if they quit otherwise I am going to the hospital!

Here is the quick version, but you will get it......Well, so much for another u/s! My water broke on June 4th (last Wed) at 2:45 in the morning. Went in to the hospital, dialated to 1cm. After a few hours, the dr. couldn't check me (my cervix was posterior), so they started pitossin. After 6 hours, I couldn't take it and got an epidural....I made it to 3 cm. Then she went into distress. They shut off the Pit and waited to see what she was going to do. Then, they started it again (contractions had gone from a min. apart to 5-6 min. apart)....and so they watched and waited. Her heartbeat kept dropping with each contraction, so they decided to do a c-section. It went very well...but they did find that the cord was around her neck. She weighed in at 7lbs., 6 oz. and was 19 and 3/4 in. long. She is happy, healthy and resting right now.....I updated my page, but cannot figure out how to send it to my friends....can you help? How are you and baby boy doing? I am doing GREAT!!!!! :)

I am not sure what the best answer is for you because I've never pumped as of yet. I doubt I will need to until I am ready to introduce a bottle to her.

Alyssa was a sleepy baby at first as well (in fact from the day we got home from the hospital she was sleeping 6 hours)... Her doctor didn't like the fact that she was sleeping so much for 2 reasons (1) because it could affect her weight gain and (2) my milk supply could decrease from going too long in between feedings.

She had me start to wake her every 3 hours to feed regardless whether or not she seemed hungry (even at night). It seemed to work great because now she's waking on her own about every 3 hours during the day and 4-5 hours at night and I no longer get engorged breasts... I am allowed to allow her to sleep at night now and no longer have to get up every 3 hours (thank god!).

It seems that doing that also put my breasts and the baby's hunger on a similar schedule...

Hope this helps... feel free to ask anything else.. This is my 4th breastfeeding experience but I still need to ask questions from time to time. :0)
