Thursday, 19 November AS a christian I dont like to celebrate xmas... all the pagan roots to it and biblically not logical its Jesus birth so... when I made the change in my family... my kids had been used to all the hoopla.... I made the choice that we would go spend 2 nights in a hotel where there is a pool and we just get away from all the stress and we play games, eat junk food and watch movies and swim and my kids enjoy that much more then gifts.... we buy them things they earn through out the year so they dont do without... but they dont need the "santa spoiling" to make them have a good childhood. I never regretted my decision and they are anxious for this yrs vaca... with 6 kids "xmas" costs me about $400 tops. theomum -

Thursday, 19 November how are you keeping? a girl eh? you mut be so excited. Any names yet? all good my end we all just got over a virus, poor wee theo has took his time getting over it tho. Pregnancy wise got a letter in from my conultant and he will be doing my next scan himself despite the other horrible consultant makeing the appoint with the radiographer, my consultant cancelled it. My notes clearly said conultant led care and she chose to ignore that. They just trying to prevent a repeat of the last time. How are you getting on with your xmas shopping, i almost have it all done but totally stuck for hubby this year x theomum -

Tuesday, 17 November i finished the canopy for the babys nursery! It turned out really good, im super excited. I put pics up. it will look better with the crib with it instead of the bassinet.
This weekend we are going baby shopping! And i mean baby shopping. Hes giving me a 2000 allowence to buy everything i might need and want! So im super excited that ive been going to every store to pick out what i want and to check prices, colors, etc. I even drove an hour away to look at another walmart to see if they had different stuff, which they did, so i got even more excited. We are making a weekend of it, all the kids and everything. Gonna invite my dad who lives near the other walmart to dinner after shopping the day! Its going to be so fun and its making this baby finally seem real! brandyv -
Friday, 13 November Congrats on your girl. I would't worry about downs syndrome. I have a 1 in 220 chance of having a baby with downs and I'm not worried. My scan was at 20 weeks, 2 days and the lady that did my ultrasound told me everything she was looking for. Some of the markers she mentioned downs babies having were a shorter fifth digit (finger), heart defects, brain defects, wider forehead, face shape, shorter femur and the list goes on. I guess downs babies are also commonly under weight and mine was in the 80th percentile in weight which is really good. The specialist I saw after the ultrasound said that 3 in 10 babies with downs syndrome don't show any markers on ultrasound and asked if it made a difference to us whether or not we would keep our baby. I would never abort our baby, so I refused the amnio. Her advice then was that we should've never gotten the testing for downs syndrome as there are a lot of false positives and all it does is cause un needed stress. The only marker that I was told couldn't be used at this point was the neck measurement, but if you opted for the downs syndrome testing, they should've checked that in a 12 week ultrasound. Wednesday, 11 November Thanks for the message. I had my level 2 scan and there are no markers of any defects in our baby girl. The nurse that told me my levels read them wrong, so they're not high like I thought they were, but according to my test results, age, weight and race, I have a 1 in 220 chance of having a baby with down syndrome. I'm not worried about it though. Good luck with your ultrasound and pregnancy! KelB75 -
