My baby girl is now over one month and it has been a ride and a half, but I think we've finally gotten the hang of it. Angelica is truly a blessing!!!! I thought I knew love until I met her and despite the 1, 3, and 5 am feedings and pretty much no sleep I wouldn't change a thing. God has blessed us with an awesome responsibility and I vow to him, my husband and of course my baby girl that I will go to the end of the earth to be the best mommy that I know how to be.

 CONGRAULATIONS ON your BABY, VERY PRECIOUS!

cherbear - Tuesday, 10 June
I work for Egg Harbor Twp. Police. It is near Atlantic City. (You may have heard about the 4 prostitutes that were killed about a year ago...that was in our town..) Mine is also a great department--but the way it works here in Jersey..I can't use FMLA....unless I were to use up ALL of my vacation and/or sick time first... (That may change as of next year...) I unfortunately have to go back at the end of summer. I'm using 6 weeks sick--then 5 weeks vacation.. (They're sending me to a class in July so I'll actually save a week there..) I completely understand wanting to stay home... I wish I could also. In our line of work though--it is IMPOSSIBLE!! Just hoping I can figure out my child care situation before the end of summer. I really don't want to do day care!

mplsmama - Tuesday, 10 June
Hey, I just saw your post! CONGRATS!!!! I'm so excited for you. You had a girl, too, huh? Did you have a hunch you were having a girl? Can't wait to hear how it's going for you!

missyh - Tuesday, 10 June
Hey there! CONGRATS!!! How has the breastfeeding been going? I know you were a little nervouse about it, did you end up trying to? I'm so happy for you and your new family! Keep in touch!

cherbear - Sunday, 8 June
Hey-- I'm also a police officer....... Just curious as to whether or not your department had maternity leave.... Mine doesn't-- I had to use sick and vacation time I saved for years......... Good luck with the little one! Hopefully we'll both go soon!

Hey there, thanks! That's so funny that your husband got such a kick out of our birth story! Yeah, my husband was so excited to be the "announcer." We actually got the birth on video [just the part of them actually lifting her out] so we have it on tape of him saying "it's a girl" all surprised, and you can hear all of the dr's laughing. It's just priceless. I can't wait for you to have yours now! I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing it feels to be a mom. I absolutely love every last moment. I just cry and thank God for blessing us sometimes! I feel so blessed. These dang hormones don't help the cause either. ;} Keep me posted... can't wait to hear your big news... can't be too much longer!

mplsmama - Thursday, 29 May
Hey there, glad to hear you got your furniture! It's cool to have things coming together, isn't it?
Yeah, I plan on breastfeeding... it's just a matter of how long. I will definitely breastfeed while I'm home for 12 wks, but I swear I have no idea how I'm going to pump while I'm in court. I was in court yesterday until 3 pm... didn't even get a lunch break. I just don't think it's feasible for me to pump as long as I'm in court... and I think you get "engorged" if you don't pump enough, don't you? I have so much to learn! But if I can figure out a way to keep pumping, I'd like to breastfeed for as long as possible. We actually went to a breastfeeding class... did you go to one? It was really helpful.
Yeah, I'm having the c-section b/c of the baby's size. It's not so much the size, as it is the fact that the belly is measuring 3 wks ahead of the rest of the body. My dr says big belly means big shoulders, which is where you start running into complications w/ shoulders getting stuck, etc. My dr estimates at least 1O lbs if I went to 4O wks. So a scheduled c-section was really not my 1st choice, but I've come to realize it's the safest way to ensure my baby gets here safely, which is obviously my ultimate goal! I found out today that I may have to wait until June 1Oth though. Honestly, I just wanted it done sooner so I can stop working! I'm sooooo sick of working right now! Oh, and I can totally see why you'd want your baby to hold on until after your case! That's not a stupid reason at all! I know how those things can drag, and I can totally see why you'd want to just get it over with.
Keep me posted! Just think, we could really go any day now! :}

sariann - Thursday, 29 May
first off congrats on expecting! I nursed both of my sons, my first was not a harty nurser and had to be supplimented with formula. My second was exclusively breastfed . I think having a good support system is key. Drink tons of water and the more you nurse the more milk you will produce. Your nipples can get a little sore but it gets better after time. It shouldn't hurt when you are nursing though, if the baby is latching on to shallow it will hurt. I would talk to a lactation consultant at the hospital or some Dr.'s office obgyn offer this too. Don't give up, the first two weeks are difficult but I swear it gets easier. Best wish in your success!!

preciousangels2 - Wednesday, 28 May
I breastfed my first son pretty easily. My nipples got a little sore but nothing I couldn't deal with it. I produced plenty of milk for him, the more your baby nurses, the more milk you'll produce. The only problem I had was that after 2 months I had to ad some formula feedings in every now and then because my little man wanted to eat every 45mins. Formula is more filling that breast milk. With the breast milk the baby will USUALLY want to eat every 2hrs. With formula it's about 3-4hrs. That and I didn't get ANY sleep because hubby couldn't get up to feed since I was breastfeeding and I wasn't pumping. So I would def. suggest that you pump a bit during the day so that someone else can feed the little one while you get some much needed sleep. Good luck!!! Hope I eased your mind some!

mplsmama - Wednesday, 28 May
Hey, how are you doing? Can you believe the end is in sight? Have you felt any signs of labor or anything? I haven't! I swear I don't have a single sign... oh well!
I actually will probably end up w/ a c-section... baby is measuring very large & dr has some concerns about me delivering vaginally. The hosp has to call me back to schedule it, but we're hoping to schedule it 6/6... which is next Friday! Isn't that crazy? I can't believe this journey is almost over!
Did you ever get your baby furniture?

RaynbowMami - Thursday, 22 May
I'm doing ok. I'm still working and miserable. I just want to sit with my feet up all day long. LOL

Classes are OVER until August. I'm super happy. I passed my Econ class with a C. I'm estatic!!!! That class is so hard.

I'm glad everything is good your way. I'm just counting down the days on my end.

RaynbowMami - Tuesday, 20 May
Hey I'm just checking on you. I hope everything is going ok.

mplsmama - Wednesday, 14 May
Oh man, I feel for ya having your house all torn up right now! That sucks! In some ways, probably better now than after the baby is born, though, huh? I'm the type of person who doesn't function well in chaos so I definitely feel your pain. And sorry to hear the baby furniture isn't there yet! It'll probably come at the last minute or something, but it'll all work out! I have faith in that! :}
I will be working up until this little one comes... how about you? My energy is definitely zapped at the end of the day. I am still in training so I just feel like I"m on information overload right now. I handled some stuff in court today, though, so that was good. They're not giving me trials until after my maternity leave, so I guess I can't complain. So, if you're a cop, have you had to be on desk duty?
We haven't totally decided on names... but our forerunners right now are Maisie for a girl, and Rowan for a boy. Do people always try to predict the gender of yours? EVERYONE thinks I'm having a boy... it's so funny. I think it's b/c I'm so humongous... it's hard to believe a girl would be so large, so I think that's why people think it's a boy. We'll see!
Hope all is well w/ you! Keep me posted!

amandajlane - Monday, 12 May
Yea I am having serious pain down below! I feel as if my pubic bone is spliting in two!! If you find out what it is please let me know!

emily1 - Monday, 12 May
i feel the same pain. sometimes i can hardly walk... it really hurts... i think it's the position of the baby....

mplsmama - Sunday, 11 May
Hey haven't talked to you in a while... how are you doing? Are you counting down like I am? :}

mplsmama - Saturday, 26 April
Hey, thanks for the msg. I'm sure it's totally normal for your hubby to be nervous about not getting the bonding time -- I think the nighttime routine is a great idea for dads to have that special time. The cool part is too that babies just seem to know who their mom & dad are, whether they're home during the day or not! We saw a cool video in one of our classes where they held a newborn up & had the dr talk to the baby on one side, then the mom or dad on the other, and the baby turned to the parent's voice everytime. It was so cute. Anyway, we babysat for some friends & my husband did the nighttime routine w/ the baby & he absolutely loved it... he agreed that that was definitely going to be his time w/ the baby.
Hope all else is well w/ you...

mplsmama - Friday, 25 April
Hey thanks! Yeah, I'm sooooo glad to have that chapter of my life done! No more studying -yahoo!!! So I also have some good news... I have a job as a prosecutor [City Atty]. It's great, but I start on May 5th! Can you believe that? They hired me w/ this big ol' belly! And I'm taking my 12 wks after the baby is born. I'm torn, b/c it's a great job, but I really wanted to stay at home for a while! But it should work out... my hubby is a teacher, so he'll be home w/ me all summer. Then he'll take another 12 wks parental leave after I go back to school. So I'm trying to count our blessings. But it's hard. I wanted ME to be home... not him! Oh well. Gotta do what you gotta do. It really is a pretty good job, and I'd be nuts to turn it down.
How are you feeling these days? You're off bed rest, right?

amaoneal - Sunday, 20 April
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am 13 weeks preg. too....with my first. I know you are excited. You don't have much longer to go. All the best to you and your husband.

Grace - Tuesday, 15 April
thank you, but my butt and legs and feet have all swollen and it is noticeable because I can't fit in my fav jeans anymore :( I was steady gaining about 2 - 2 1/2 lbs every 4 wks between doctor visits, then when I went for my last one I had gained 8 lbs in 3 weeks, but now I understand what happened since I hadn't changed my eating or activity level, I was retaining fluids in my lower half, I think the swelling is going down now I've been eating garlic cloves and drinking lots of water and propping my legs up. But I do count calories and fat sometimes, when I think I'm going overboard to get myself on track. I learned my lesson with my first (I went from 115 to 182, and afterwards I stayed at 175, it took 2 more pregnancies to get (almost)back to where I was before ever having children. )
Good luck with yours ;)

mplsmama - Friday, 11 April
Oh my goodness, I hope you're doing ok on bedrest! That must've been scary! Thankfully it sounds like everything is ok. I also had ended up in maternal assessment earlier in the wk after not really feeling as much movement for 2 days. They monitored me for a while but everything turned out to be normal. I was pretty freaked out about the whole thing though. At least at this point we're far enough along where if we did go into labor, everything would probably be fine.
Hope you get your nursery furniture soon too! We've been having fun putting the shower presents away in the nursery.
Anyway, keep me posted! Hope your hubby is catering to your every need as you are a bit laid up! :-]

Iv deffiantly been feeling that way too I feel this bellys got to grow some more and make some room for the baby I feel like Im all baby .

Utopianite - Wednesday, 9 April
Yep. I've had the same thing lately. Especially if I've been doing housework for a couple of hours and lifting the toddlers. The vacuum really got to me today. I really did feel like my insides were going to fall out. Sometimes it feels like bad period cramps, and sometimes it's just really sore to the touch. I had this with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies and the doctor just told me that it was ligament and muscle pain and not to do so much. Oh, and it'll go away as soon as I give birth. (Thanks for the help.) :-) Easy for him to say. My husband's out of town and I'm at home all day with 3 little ones. I'm not going to worry about anything unless I'm bleeding or leaking some other fluid. :-)
