Hi! My name is Amanda! Im currently 9 weeks 5 days along. This is my first pregnancy and Im sooo excited. It was a complete accident that God gave to my husband and I. Though im extremely excited, im also really depressed.... I lost my job just yesterday and my hubby and I can not live off his income alone.... I used to be a veterinary technician, but my boss said that I "wasn't utilizing my down time and takin to many phone calls..." i honestly dont know what she meant bc i did 3 calls a day... break. break. and ... lunch break.. I have a feeling that they needed to let someone go bc we were always so slow during the holidays and the fact that I was pregnant would cause them problems.... i couldnt take xrays, lift heavy patients, be around fecal matter.. etc.... whih is like my whole job...so now im jobless... and very few are hiring during the holiday season.... but i will get through this.... my husband will help me.

Nov. 29

So im 10 weeks today even though my vip page says 9 wks still.... Im feeling a lot better about losing my job.... maybe its what God wanted since it was so labor intensive. So im looking for a receptionist position now and i might have found one that pays A LOT better.... which is always good. Oh and I was awoken this morning to a numbing pain under my armpit that led to my left breast. It felt like i was having a panic attack... wtf? i was dead asleep happily.... it hasnt stopped but i gave up on sleeping. I guess i got to get used to it. I will hopefully have pictures up soon!

Dec 18th

So i went to the doctors today and thankfully my baby is still beating. It makes me feel so much better now... i wish i could afford to rent a dopplar.... but im still happy and look how mych she/he has grown!!!! since the last pic!

Dec 27th

So im so happy rt now. My hubby brought home a dopplar as a surprise for me!!!! See he works at a hospital as a computer technician and he services a womens clinic which im going to bc thats all my insurance will pay for. But because they like him so much, Im getting the best treatment ever!!! And he asked about renting dopplars and they just handed him one and said have fun!!!! So he brought it home and we searched for like 10 min. We kept getting the placenta (i knew what it sounded like bc when i was like 6 wks, a doctor at my vet clinic who was also pregnant wanted to ultrasound me and we found the baby and we heard the placenta and baby!! could you believe it? i didnt think we had such a good ultrasound machine but it looks soooo much nicer than the one at my clinic) so back to the baby. Hubby found the heartbeat and it was between 160-166bpm!!! I really hope its a girl. Of course i will be happy with a boy but i think first go around i want a girl. But hubby wants a boy so we will see.... you know that wives tale of the needle on a string? well my hubby did it at work with a bunch of women who have had children and it told them what they have had.... it was riht for everyone. Well he did it on himself and it said girl first then boy.... as soon as i heard this, i went and did it and it said the same thing!!!! And my mom and bro seem to think it will be a girl.... i really hope so!!!!!

April 8th

OMG!!! ITS BEEN 4 MONTHS SINCE IVE UPDATED THIS THING! Well..... theres a lot that has happened....

1) I got a new job Jan 1 working for an embroidery and screenprint shop. Its nice so far... but now the standing is getting to me.... I am the only one that operates the embroidery mmachines... and theres a lot of em! But theyre really nice and any time I need a day off or need to go to the docs, they never give me problems...

2) Hubby lost his job mid Jan... and he still hasnt found a job. It wasnt his fault for losing it... office politics. Long story... if you wanna know the details, ask... Ill give you a hint... it is composed of a bitch lady that doesnt know how to run clinics and a new vp that got into a quarrel.... so yeah, two women that sums it all up....

3) My ob was pissed when he heard about my hubby losing his job (my hubby did services for his clinic) so he has been giving me free service since bc we dont have insurance anymore...

4) My apt test came back with abnormal results for a possible downs syndrome.... 1:75 chance.... so my doc ordered a level 3 ultrasound.... ive never heard of a level 3!?

5) The ultrasound was soooo cool! They were really nice and they even did 3d's! I hope to have those pics online soon!

6) They think it might be a girl but the little one kept its legs closed lol!

7)Husband ha decided if he cant find another job, hes gonna start uphis business again.... i hope he gets another job. Rt now, we need steady income... its starting to make me nervous.

8) My ob did a normal ultrasound... and ITS A GIRL!!! :D

9) The glucose test wasnt bad... but the doc did a finger prick and used a glucose monitor since i have no insurance and can not send it to a lab.... i failed by 9 pts..... :( off to the 3 hr one....

10) My new insurance finally started on the 5th! So i can now get normal labwork. Sadly, im gonna have to leave my nice ob... I dont want to deliver at his hospital.... its in Arkansas and I dont want to give money to the hospital that got rid of my husband... so now its search time...

Well really thats about it.... Hopefully I will start updating this every day... I will try :)

Well I have to say I agree with you on the whole MIL issue with the clothes and stuff, there is nothing a mother wants more than to dress her little girl/boy up in something she picked out spedically for them! And yes it's great to get a few special items from others but you want to dress your child how you want to dress them! So I agree with you on this one and I say stick to your guns, if you want to take the clothes back and get what you need you should feel more than able to do that. What good is millions of clothes going to do you if you can't diaper your baby or don't have a crib or something to put the baby in! That's my thoughts anyway!
I posted something in the baby shower forum about my MIL and my shower, but can't tell the hubby so I'm venting on here too!

There are a lot of favored water drinks out there that have I have been substituting for soda pop. I was told to just check the labels and make sure there are no carbs or sugars in them. I have found Aquafina Flavorsplash to be the best brand. I've also been drinking a lot of unsweetened iced tea. If you add lemon or berries to the pitcher, it adds a surprising amount if flavor!
It was REALLY hard for me to give up my pop and my juice, too. Good luck!

hi crystal, i have found that if you just make sure you stay away from sweet sweet stuff you will be ok. I have found that sugar free pudding and jello help with my sweet cravings so that way i dont end up splurging later. And yes unfortunately fruit drinks are out but you can have diet drinks (although i have found that there are some that were not meant to be diet) and drink lots of water. Also i think we can have the crystal lite stuff you;ll just have to experiment and see what it does to your sugar levels.

you need to update your little journal thing. as do i.

bethjs - Thursday, 13 Mar
wow thats gutsy lol but also really sweet too, i'm sure your delivery will go well no matter where you are...hey you might just end up getting a cool story out of it, you know like your kid being born in the back of your car or something crazy like at a truck stop or something... lol i hope that doesn't scare you i just like adventures and that sounds like it could turn into one. I hope all goes well

bethjs - Monday, 3 Mar
ooo yeah i wouldn't want to go with Donald either lol. I guess mine isn't too bad it's James Alexander and we did decide to call him Alex instead of anything with J. in it. I like the name James it's just to common for me, my dad is James, my brothers middle name is James, my hubbys grandfather is James, I know 2 guys from church that are James and I have a friend James and also a friend with the last name James so I'm ready for something not so James-ish lol but he did give me free reign of the other three....well we will see how this one goes lol but I'm kinda sorta beginning to just cope with it but oh well. So how do you like doing embroidery? you don't by chance work at an embroidme do you? I actually need to change my proffesion cause I quit about a month ago due to there not being enough work for 2 people to do so when he cut my hours it wasn't worth me driving 45min to an hour each way on what he was paying me, I miss it though I've been doing sewing and embroidery just on my own for like 8 years, nothing professional yet but hopefully some day. I more make stuff as gifts like diaper bags and purses and quilts...I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I just read you post on the 21 week board! Don't feel bad i noticed the samething the other day after i got out of the shower and what's weird about it is this is my third pregnancy and third child and i never noticed that with either one of the other two. I thought i was the only one with that issue. Anyway onto another subject do you know the sex of your baby? I found out Monday the 18th that I'm having a baby boy i have two girls. I've heard that sometimes the sex of the baby has something to do with the leakage thing but i'm not sure if it's true for everyone but in my situation it is true cause I'm having a boy well Congrats and good luck!!!

AnSo - Thursday, 21 Feb
Hi! Hang in there...If i can help, do the math: 1/200 means that you have a 99.5% chance of having a healhy baby-pretty good odds. It is about the same chances they give to women over 35 just based on their age. And u/s are not overly reliable, I see a lot of ladies have posted notes to that effect. I hope you will have another chance to be further reassured later in your pregnancy but until then, draw strength and support everywhere you can.

stephs1 - Thursday, 21 Feb
Hi, I was told that my baby is high risk for downs as well. My husband and I chose not to have the amnio due to the risks involved. Just know that these tests have a high percentage for misdiagnoses. Try not to let it ruin your pregnancy and know that no matter what you have a beautiful baby inside! Congrats on finding out the sex :)

jobean38 - Thursday, 21 Feb
I was jumping ahead on this site - i'm from week 12 and saw your post. Check out this site... it talks about how unreliable ultrasounds are for predicting downs. http://www.geocities.com/wilsfordmindy/ultrasound.html The fact that risk is going down is an even better sign. Try not to worry and enjoy your preganancy!

mommy1986 - Thursday, 21 Feb
I read your comment that you posted on the 20 week page and I myself realized that I'm going through a situation quite similar to yours...
I went for my 19 week ultrasound on V-day(14th) and was told that it looked liked there was some swelling or thickening on the back of my babies neck.
This means a-little access fluid which can be a sign of down syndrome. They said that they see this all the time and in most cases the baby turns out to be fine and that they are not sure if it was actually the swelling or the way the baby was laying but I had blood work done to test for this...
Did this happen to you?
Oh and my baby is also a girl... Thanks, and good-luck with your baby as well, I wish you the best.

teresa262 - Wednesday, 20 Feb
Did you have a first screen done? it would have been done between 11-13 weeks, they do an u/s to check the neck fold, and then do a finger prick and take blood? They did that test for me and my odds were 1:10,000. Then the doc did the second trimester screen and the test came back 1:51. Well long story short they should have used the first screen results only, and never ran the second test. They also flubbed my due date and messed up the test. I wish you 's the best. I know it's hard and stressful but be hopeful.

Good Luck and don't let the drama get too you. Take care of yourself and your bean.

primetime - Tuesday, 12 Feb
Hi Crystal, If you are that upset and worried, I would call your doctor and ask why a level III and not a level II. Don't make yourself crazy. Take your pregnancy in your own hands and ask, you have every right to know what is going on. It may just be that the level III is better than a level II and that is what they offer instead. Make the call and you will feel better. Sorry for ramble. Take care and will keep you in my thoughts. Smile this is the best time ever.

caracaya - Wednesday, 30 Jan
If you are really in a hurry to find out the gender of your baby, you can go anytime and have a 4D ultrasound done. They generally cost about $200 and I think most larger cities have at least one company that offers them. They give you video and pictures, and they'll tell you the gender. If you cannot wait and don't mind the extra money, go find out :)
