Hi! My name is Amanda! Im currently 9 weeks 5 days along. This is my first pregnancy and Im sooo excited. It was a complete accident that God gave to my husband and I. Though im extremely excited, im also really depressed.... I lost my job just yesterday and my hubby and I can not live off his income alone.... I used to be a veterinary technician, but my boss said that I "wasn't utilizing my down time and takin to many phone calls..." i honestly dont know what she meant bc i did 3 calls a day... break. break. and ... lunch break.. I have a feeling that they needed to let someone go bc we were always so slow during the holidays and the fact that I was pregnant would cause them problems.... i couldnt take xrays, lift heavy patients, be around fecal matter.. etc.... whih is like my whole job...so now im jobless... and very few are hiring during the holiday season.... but i will get through this.... my husband will help me.

Nov. 29

So im 10 weeks today even though my vip page says 9 wks still.... Im feeling a lot better about losing my job.... maybe its what God wanted since it was so labor intensive. So im looking for a receptionist position now and i might have found one that pays A LOT better.... which is always good. Oh and I was awoken this morning to a numbing pain under my armpit that led to my left breast. It felt like i was having a panic attack... wtf? i was dead asleep happily.... it hasnt stopped but i gave up on sleeping. I guess i got to get used to it. I will hopefully have pictures up soon!

Dec 18th

So i went to the doctors today and thankfully my baby is still beating. It makes me feel so much better now... i wish i could afford to rent a dopplar.... but im still happy and look how mych she/he has grown!!!! since the last pic!

Dec 27th

So im so happy rt now. My hubby brought home a dopplar as a surprise for me!!!! See he works at a hospital as a computer technician and he services a womens clinic which im going to bc thats all my insurance will pay for. But because they like him so much, Im getting the best treatment ever!!! And he asked about renting dopplars and they just handed him one and said have fun!!!! So he brought it home and we searched for like 10 min. We kept getting the placenta (i knew what it sounded like bc when i was like 6 wks, a doctor at my vet clinic who was also pregnant wanted to ultrasound me and we found the baby and we heard the placenta and baby!! could you believe it? i didnt think we had such a good ultrasound machine but it looks soooo much nicer than the one at my clinic) so back to the baby. Hubby found the heartbeat and it was between 160-166bpm!!! I really hope its a girl. Of course i will be happy with a boy but i think first go around i want a girl. But hubby wants a boy so we will see.... you know that wives tale of the needle on a string? well my hubby did it at work with a bunch of women who have had children and it told them what they have had.... it was riht for everyone. Well he did it on himself and it said girl first then boy.... as soon as i heard this, i went and did it and it said the same thing!!!! And my mom and bro seem to think it will be a girl.... i really hope so!!!!!

April 8th

OMG!!! ITS BEEN 4 MONTHS SINCE IVE UPDATED THIS THING! Well..... theres a lot that has happened....

1) I got a new job Jan 1 working for an embroidery and screenprint shop. Its nice so far... but now the standing is getting to me.... I am the only one that operates the embroidery mmachines... and theres a lot of em! But theyre really nice and any time I need a day off or need to go to the docs, they never give me problems...

2) Hubby lost his job mid Jan... and he still hasnt found a job. It wasnt his fault for losing it... office politics. Long story... if you wanna know the details, ask... Ill give you a hint... it is composed of a bitch lady that doesnt know how to run clinics and a new vp that got into a quarrel.... so yeah, two women that sums it all up....

3) My ob was pissed when he heard about my hubby losing his job (my hubby did services for his clinic) so he has been giving me free service since bc we dont have insurance anymore...

4) My apt test came back with abnormal results for a possible downs syndrome.... 1:75 chance.... so my doc ordered a level 3 ultrasound.... ive never heard of a level 3!?

5) The ultrasound was soooo cool! They were really nice and they even did 3d's! I hope to have those pics online soon!

6) They think it might be a girl but the little one kept its legs closed lol!

7)Husband ha decided if he cant find another job, hes gonna start uphis business again.... i hope he gets another job. Rt now, we need steady income... its starting to make me nervous.

8) My ob did a normal ultrasound... and ITS A GIRL!!! :D

9) The glucose test wasnt bad... but the doc did a finger prick and used a glucose monitor since i have no insurance and can not send it to a lab.... i failed by 9 pts..... :( off to the 3 hr one....

10) My new insurance finally started on the 5th! So i can now get normal labwork. Sadly, im gonna have to leave my nice ob... I dont want to deliver at his hospital.... its in Arkansas and I dont want to give money to the hospital that got rid of my husband... so now its search time...

Well really thats about it.... Hopefully I will start updating this every day... I will try :)

You do not need to see your dr for him to sign a release form. Call his office and ask them to send a release to you or, even better, to the place you want to do 3/4 D u/s.

My sciatic is usually just in one spot also, but to hear everyone else describe it, it shoots down their leg. :)

babybennett - Wednesday, 16 Jan
It sounds like it may be sciatica issues. Typically sciatica sends very sharp shooting pains from your sciatic nerve down your leg. When I have had it act up I feel it coming from what I call 'my circles' - the round nub like things on your hips (basically where your pelvis is, but on your back) just about where my pants end. The only way that I have been able to get relief from it is to see the chiropractor. Even if you don't have insurance, I would look into payment plans with them as this was the ONLY thing that made mine go away. It took a couple weeks at 2-3 times a week to really notice the difference, but it was so worth it! My pain is gone. I tried resting, heating pads, tylenol, time off work - the chiropractor was really the only thing that helped. If you go, make sure that they know you are pregnant. GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks, we have tried sex, raspberry leaf tea, walking. Nothing seems to work. I have been dialated to 4cm for 2 weeks now. I go to the Dr today at noon. He wants to talk about induction.

-hi
I also read your comment about your hubby being anxious--so was my husband, until we met other couples who had homebirths and they shared their experiences. My husband couldn't deny that their birth stories were so much more heartfelt than hospital birth stories--that's what turned him over to the homebirth plan--now he is a huge advocate for it!

Hi, I saw your comment about wanting a homebirth and your hubby being against it. My partner was also against it until he read 'Birth Reborn by Michel Odent a French obstretician. Now he fully supports me and we are getting so excited. Picking up the pool next week. I am now about 27 days away to have my girl in the comfort of my own home. Good luck.

Hi there! I saw your post on the homebirth board. My husband was apprehensive with our first homebirth. This time, he's been teasing me he's just going to hang at work until I have the baby because I don't need him anyway! (this will be or third homebirth.) As for OB's....my first child was born in the hospital. I ended up induced 8 days past my due date and the doctor said she was worried about 'a big baby.' I went for 20 hours without an epidural until one of the nurses practically forced me to. The nurses weren't going to let me drink the Gatorade I brought that my doctor said I could have, until I finally got them to call her and she said it was okay. I ended up with a catheter after the epidural. I wasn't allowed to get up and walk. I wasn't allowed in the shower. After they broke my water, they refused to let me out of bed to use the bathroom becuase they broke it too soon and she was still too high. They inserted an intrauterine monitor for the baby, which I flat out refused, but they did anyway. At about the 27 hour mark, after being stuck at 9 cm for about 3 hours because I wasn't allowed to move, the OB threatened a C-section if I didn't have the baby in half an hour. Luckily, I started pushing about 15 minutes later, and half an hour after that, I had my daughter....a 'whopping' 6 lb 10 oz. The doctor said, oh, I guess she wasn't as big as I thought, huh?...no, guess not. After that. I had to stay in the hospital for 4 days because they couldn't get my heart rate under control. It took another 2 weeks at home before I finally felt remotely like myself again. My daughter still has sleep problems because even though I requested her sleeping in my room, they would come when I was asleep and take her away. My homebirths were 13 and 8 hours respectively. I had very little pain...so little, my midwife never believed I was in active labor when she got there! I was out and about the next day, and back to work within 3 (I work from home.) My younger 2 are both wonderful sleepers. Of course, some people have wonderful birth experiences in the hospital and wouldn't have it any other way, but not all doctors, even ones who seem very, very nice and accomodating like mine presented herself, will adhere to your wishes for a natural, less intrusive childbirth. HTH! Good luck!

Thank you, im sorry to hear about your job but it usually almost always leads to something better, I hope everything keeps going good for you, keep me updated and send alot of baby dust my way... i really need it.

Hi, when I was young and with my first pregnancy, I also dreamed about home birth. I had to abandon this dream since I had twins and one was in head-up position. And I was glad I had it in a hospital. After first twin was born, the other amniotic sack wouldn't open. They had to cut it open and stimulate the second birth. Also the placenta didn't come out and they had to remove it surgically. Home birth is ok if everything is going ok, but if something gone wrong, it is better to have medical people around.

mlv - Friday, 14 Dec
Hello! I just wanted to say that I feel exactley the same way as you, and it seems so many other people :) I also have an u/s on the 18th. But I guess it's normal.

babyhmom - Thursday, 13 Dec
Hey there, I just read your comment, and I wanted to share my situation with you, to try to provide you some reassurance. My pg symptoms seemed to have just stopped when I turned 10 weeks. i paniced instantly. i went to see my CNM yesterday and everything is fine. So rest assured that it seems strange that things just stop, but it is normal for some women, around 9-13 weeks.

jbug - Thursday, 13 Dec
Hey we are due the same day! I just want to let you know that i feel the same way as you. But I have not had any symptoms at all the entire pregnancy. We had an u/s at 6.4 weeks and everything was ok but I have this nervous feeling because I don't feel pregnant at all. I have another appt. on the 17th so I'm hoping that I am just being paranoid and that everything is ok. I'm sure everything is ok for you too, usually the symptoms start to go away around this time. good luck, let us know how your appt. goes.

tracic - Thursday, 13 Dec
Hey I just read your comment. Rest assured that when signs go away around the 9-11 week time frame, it's because the placenta is taking over making the baby now and your body no longer has to do that part. That's why so many women get sick, sore and tired, because until these weeks the placenta was still being formed. I hope this helps!
