I started to notice contractions about 5pm on the 17th of November. A few hours later I went into L&D to see if I was in labor. I was but they wanted to make sure so they gave me a morphine shot and some sleeping pills to see if it would stop (It would stop if it were false) well the pain didnt stop, it got worse and I got maybe 30 min of sleep until I went back in at 7am. They checked me and decided to admit me. They gave me some pitocin with my epidural to speed things up. The baby`s heart wasnt taking the contractions very well so I ended up going in for an emergency c-section. It was all quite scary but when I saw my little man it was the most amazing thing ever. I asked for the weight and they told me 4lbs 11oz and I started crying `why is he so small!!!!` Turns out the placenta stopped growing and so did he. My midwife would had caught it if she had given me an u/s at 34weeks like I asked ( I felt too small) I should have been on bedrest. Also I never completely gave up smoking. I havent lit up since the delivery because I have so much guilt. He still would have been small had I not smoked but he might be a pound more making to where he didnt have to go to NICU at the childrens hospital. He was having trouble holding his temp and keeping up his blood sugar. Since he has been there he has made an excellent turn around and will be home with me on the 25th or the 26th of November. I can`t wait til he`s here with me. Please dont smoke during pregnancy. I always justified it because I saw so many woman deliver healthy 8lb babies while smoking but it`s too much of a risk because its not every woman.

11/14/07

39 weeks today and feeling it! I had an appointment this morning and I'm only a fingertip dialated but his head has dropped really low which is super exciting for me since it's a sign that labor is getting closer. Anytime now! Josh got a job 3 weeks ago (pheew just in time) and I couldnt be more proud of him because he is doing great. Surprisingly since I have gotten pregnant our relationship has been the best it has ever been. Josh is finally maturing into a man and taking complete responsiblity. He really wants to provide for us. I plan to get work about 2 months after Kiefer is born. And when I do we will get our own place and live together as a family. I couldn't be happier! I can't wait!

10/4 - I'm 33 weeks now and I'm still pretty nervous about having a baby. I just feel so young and unprepared. But I assume that everything will be okay. My fundal heighth measured 34cm which is good and I've passed all the test. Josh hasnt been to lucky in finding work. He really is trying though, I hope he gets work soon since there isnt much time left until the birth. I'm thankful that my parents are letting us stay in there extra room, it really helps us out since I havent worked since I was 4 1/2 months. I havent been working because in homecare work Im at risk of getting sick and lifting 150lbs + isnt that good of an idea. Josh and my relationship has actually been better than ever, he really has been putting in a lot of effort to make better for all three of us.

28 Weeks

Hello all preggo's, My name is Melissa Im from Gresham Oregon. My boyfriend of 5 years and I are expecting our first baby. We are both pretty nervous, (more me than him) but were also so very excited. This pregnancy kind of came as a shock. I first became pregnant on my 21st birthday in December. I found out I was pregnant in January and lost the baby on Feb. 1st. Miscarriage can be very difficult emotionally and at the time, I was not ready to try again. We were trying to be careful for the next month or two , since conceiving right after a miscarriage is a high risk for another one. We were only intimate ONE time that month ( I know, I know, thats all it takes) and I conceived for my second time. I am happy to say that this pregnancy has been going very smoothly. We are expecting a boy toward the end of November.

So, Kiefer is 9 days old now and has gained 8 ounces. A half a pound. I am very happy with that. We've been working very hard to make sure that he gets a lot of calories by fortifying my breastmilk in a bottle (add formula) for him. I can't wait until next week to see how much he has gained by then.
