Hi everyone.

I am due in May 2008. I have a feeling that I am having a boy - I don't know why :-) I am really happy to be pregnant - I did not think that I would ever have a baby of my own since I have tried insemination and IVF without any luck. And now it has happened all naturally. I am SO happy :-)

2nd Jan. I am having a big baby boy! Yahooo...!

My boyfriend and I have decided that I am going to give birth in Australia. He is Australian and we have family there that are birthdoctors. So long Denmark! :-)

One more thing. I got used to reclining on my back a lot during backrest, but I am very strict now about only laying on my side. Laying on your back will cause gravity to work against you.

Sounds like we are in the same boat. I was on bed rest from 23 weeks to 37 because they thought I had an incompetent cervix. Obviously, I do not have incompetent cervix--my baby is already over 9 lbs and my cervix is only dilated to 3 cms. It must have been pre-term labor brought on by too much stress or overdoing it that caused my cervix to open up and funnel at 23 weeks.

So, when my doc told me she didn't think the baby would drop and that I needed to try to walk her down, I bought that book I mentioned and it had ideas for using gravity to help open up your pelvis and get the baby to drop. Basically, the easiest thing you can do is try to never lay down unless you are resting or sleeping, and try to only sit on the floor as much as possible rather than on a chair or couch. He says the floor is the best place for a pregnant women to sit. And that second best is a firm chair--nont a cushy couch. The best position to sit in is cross legged on the floor. You can modify this by putting your back against a wall and putting your feet together instead of crossed and use your hands to open up your pelvis by pressing down on your inner thighs. Both positions help open up your pelvis a lot and use gravity to bring baby lower. I sit that way as much as possible--obviously I cannot do that 100% of the time, but the goal is 10 minds at a time several times a day. I also get on all fours and do pelvic tilts now and then to try to get the baby to turn and to rest from sitting up. This gives relief to any back pain as well. The thing I think probably helped the most for getting baby to drop are the squats. I try to squat (with legs wide, toes pointed out and elbows between my knees to try to open up even more) as much as possible. It is hard when my ankles are super swollen, but I still try. If you do those during a BH contractions you will feel the contraction very intensely in your pelvis. This position opens up your pelvis by about 20-30% more than normal and really helps work the baby down. I throw kegel exercises in whenever I think of it to try to further strengthen my pelvic floor.

I know it is hard to motivate yourself when you are so tired, but I was very determined because I want to have a natural birth and I have a lot of work to do to make up for the effects of my bedrest. I definitely think the bedrest is why my baby was up so high and why she is posterior. But now she seems to drop more and more every day and I am hopeful that she will work her way out any day now. :)

Let me know if you have any questions. I really want things to go well for you!

Thanks! I am long torso'd too, so it was a big shock. Be sure to drop me a line if you get the point of needing baby to drop too. I worked hard at it because my doc will only let me go to 41 weeks without making me be induced, so I need to make sure I am doing all I can to counteract the effects of my 14 weeks of bedrest. and get this baby to come out on her own.

Hello, just wanted to let you know my exercies worked! The doctor was completely shocked when she measured me yesterday, because I've dropped so much. I measured 39 cms on Friday and 34 cms yesterday. Woo hoo! Maybe I will birth this baby one of these days!

You're starting to take over my "cool kid" persona staying in week 39 forever... kind like when I pretend that every year I turn 29 again...

aubreyd08 - Tuesday, 20 May
NO - but with nina and heidi going tomorrow - who else is left..???? just kidding ;0)

I'm great but can't sleep ... (nothing unusual)... I've been cleaning like crazy tonight. I thought nesting was supposed to happen BEFORE baby is born??? Aren't I suppose to be able to sleep while baby's sleeping??

Alyssa's doing really good. She got more blood drawn today from her heel to check her levels for jaunice again and make sure they went down from Friday. Levels were pretty good Friday so I'm hoping they're ok now. Doc called and left a voicemail after closing today and said to call them in the morning to discuss. I hate when doctors do that - so I get to worry and speculate all evening long until I can finally get ahold of somebody tomorrow... They have my cell phone - but that'd be WAY too easy eh?

I actually wish she'd wake up so I could spend time with her... if I can't sleep - then she shouldn't either ;0)

OH - and I think it's official - I think you're gonna be the last of us to go :0(

Hey Lisa, I have finally delivered May 16th.....I ended up having a c/s, and I am so glad I took that decision. The night before baby had alot of hiccups and then around 4am baby wasn''t moving very much anymore. So I called the doc in the a.m. and told me to go in. He then noticed that baby's heart wasn't as reactive as it should be, so since baby was breeched he told me that time was up and that baby needed to come out.....In the c/s baby ended up having the nuchal cord 3 times around neck.....3 times!!! and not loose ones, OMG just to think what could have happened.....Baby came out healthy and I am recooperating great.....Wishing you the best for yours to come......

i don't know about perfect but she's close!! LOL sad thing is i have her spoiled already... she likes to go to sleep in my arms and not in a swing or anything else!! so i need to somehow break her of that!! but i hope you're little boy is good and hope you have him soon!!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. As you said, I'm gonna try and if it doesn't work out, then at least I tried. Like I initially planned, I could always just pump, too, so long as my milk supply stays up enough. Good luck to you on your effort as well. Hopefully we'll be having our babies soon!
