So I'm almost13 weeks and am still just as sick as I was 2 months ago!! This is going on week 9 of morning sickness for me. I was only sick with my son for about 3 weeks. I am also starting to have some back pain if I walk a lot which I can handle...but the morning sickness will hopefully be gone soon. The headaches are gone yaaay. I am getting up several times a night to pee...doesn't bother me much. I am also having awful nightmares every night that leave me waking up feeling very unrested. Maybe I'm having a girl this time. It would be nice to have a girl since I have a boy already but I have sooo much boy stuff...some of which has never even been used. So really I don't care if its a boy or a girl as long as it's healthy.

So...at my first appointment last month I found that my new insurance does not cover the doctor that I'd been going to for years and years...the one I was very comfortable with and delivered my son! I was less than thrilled. Because I have a PPO insurance I can still go to him but the insurance only covers 40%. I'm a freakin nurse...shouldn't I be able to go anywhere for free!!! Not only am I a nurse but I am an OB nurse!! Anyway...before I had found that out many nurses that I work with were asking why I was not going to deliver at the hospital I work with...they said that I would get VIP treatment and everything would be wonderful. At the time I thought...how WEIRD would that be?!!?!? But I started thinking that as much as I liked the hospital I had delivered my son in, they weren't very good nurses and they rarely checked me, etc. So the thought of changing doctors HAD crossed my mind but I probably would not have done it without the insurance issue. So...since that appointment I had an ultrasound (I had a very small amount of bleeding, dark, more than likely old blood but I wanted to make sure everything was ok) and everything was fine. Baby was in there kicking around and his/her heartbeat very strong :)

I went to my new doctor yesterday and was asking him questions about stuff that I wanted...I have a preference in the anesthesia (I work with post op csection patients and I know what works!), I told him that I didn't want staples like he does for everyone else...and he said we could do whatever I wanted. So I'm feeling much better.

BTW..I had surgery when I was younger and was unable to have a vaginal delivery with my son so I will obviously be having a repeat csection. I probably wouldn't be able to handle labor anyway :)

At my appointment yesterday I got to hear my peanuts heartbeat which was so excited!! And I go for another ultrasound next Thursday...yaaay :)

I had my second ultrasound and everything is fine. Even though I was measuring small, according to baby's size/development they kept my due date on Oct 18...which is exactly what it was according to dates! YAAAAY!!! I didn't want them putting me back! It's been a looong 13 weeks...well 10 of morning sickness...but I am happy to report that the m/s has finally gone away...not completely but mostly...It's not ALL the time anymore just once in awhile and usually at night. I can handle that. I also got to hear the baby's heartbeat again...very sweet! My husband got to come this time so it was really nice. They couldn't tell the sex yet but that's ok because when they tell the sex this early it's more of a guess and like I said before...I will be excited no matter what it is but if I find out now and then they change it at the 20 week scan I would probably be disappointed because I will have started to plan for it.

4/22/08

Got to hear baby's heartbeat at work tonight!! It's so reassuring! It was 150! I love the little peanut!

4/30

Another dr. appt. today! Went well...I'm measuring right where I should be!! This has been a long week for some reason...maybe because I keep thinking it's friday. Anyway...heartrate is still 150! I go for my blood work next week. I can NOT wait for my next ultrasound when we will find out the sex of the baby!!! I really want to know!!! Hopefully he/she cooperates! Anyway...I am symptom free now :) thank God for no morning sickness and my headaches are gone too...my boobs hurt though...but I can handle that! :) I'm starting to enjoy being prego!

Last night I had some cramping...almost like menstrual cramps. I couldn't sleep it was so bad. I was nervous but I talked to one of the OB's at work and he said it's nothing to worry about. Just in case I had one of the other RN's do an ultrasound on me and everything looks fine..very active. We couldn't tell if it's a boy or girl but he or she is doing fine thankfully. Just another fun pregnancy symptom I guess. I can't wait to find out what color to do baby's room :)

Waiting on the Ultrasound

VERY relieved that I lost all my baby weight from my last pregnancy because I'm already gaining...I gained MOST of my weight with my last during the last trimester.

That is my son and I on Thanksgiving last year...he was enjoying the snow! and I loooove the poem!

5/10/08

I had a very nice mother's day! I can't believe next year at this time I will have two little one's running around! I've been feeling good but not sleeping well at all. I am up all night going to the bathroom and can't seem to get comfortable...isn't it a little early for this? It's ok...I'm healthy and the baby's healthy so that's all I care about. I take naps when my son naps.

Even though baby won't be here for 5 months I'm starting to get nervous already!! My hands are full with my 20 month old...he literally requires all of my attention and both my hands at all times...how am I going to do it with 2. I know I will but it's scary. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time! I'm also a little worried because when Andrew was born he had a pneumothorax (small hole in his lung) and required a chest tube and cpap machine and then oxygen. He was in the hospital for 11 days ..probably the hardest 11 days of my life...luckily the hospital I delivered at allowed me to stay with him. What makes me nervous this time is that the hospital I am going to deliver at (I work there) doesn't have the level of NICU that the other hospital has and if this baby is born with the same complication then this baby would have to be shipped out to UIC. I can't STAY at a hospital 11 days again because of my son but it would be so difficult to go all the way downtown each day to visit...I know that I worry too much and hopefully this baby will be perfectly healthy! The other thing is that when my son was circumcised he bled a lot and ended up needing a blood transfusion....I know that this does NOT happen often at all...I work as a nurse in labor and delivery/mother-baby and I take care of babies after they have this done and it has NEVER happened where I work so it was a fluke but still makes me nervous...guess I could hope for a girl so I can stop worrying!! I really can't wait to find out what I am having. I go for labs tomorrow and in 2 weeks for another appointment...hopefully they will schedule my ultrasound at that time...I go on a day when the ultrasound tech is there so maybe...HOPEFULLY they'll just do it while I'm there...we'll see...that's about it for now...going for my daily walk with my son...trying to stay in shape this time...gained 60 lbs with my last and took me a year to loose it all!!!

pregnancy

At this point my pregnancy is actually great! I'm just not sleeping well but the morning sickness and headaches have subsided and I'm starting to show and get excited. Can't wait to feel the little kicks!! I'm sure the heartburn will be coming soon but for now I'm going to enjoy feeling GREAT! :)

Getting my labs drawn today...yuck! I would much rather be going for an ultrasound :)

5/17/08

I have been so emotional lately...and worse...I don't think before I speak so I say a lot of things I don't want to say or mean and then regret it. I remember doing this with my last pregnancy and I can't wait to be over this because I feel awful. I don't even want to talk to anyone anymore because no matter what they say I take it wrong and flip out :(

5/19/08

I was looking through my journal from my last pregnancy...and I noticed that I am the exact same weight at 18 weeks this time that I was last time! This is good considering that I started out about 12lbs lighter last time and lost a whole bunch of weight during my first trimester. I gained waaaay too much weight last time and it really wasn't healthy for me or baby. Luckily I was able to make it down to about 10 lbs more than my prepregnant weight before I got pregnant again. So I'm excited about that...I've been drinking a lot of water and eating very healthy and doing walks daily with my son. :)

5/24/08

Still feeling pretty good. Very anxious to find out the sex of this baby...hopefully at my appt on wed. we'll discuss that. Still at about +13lbs since I got pregnant so not bad. Can't believe I'm at 19 weeks already...it seems to have gone slow but when I think that I'm just about half way there I can't believe it! At times I think I feel the baby move but it's not often and definitely not regular...unsure if it's baby or gas or my imagination...hopefully this week I'll feel baby more...very excited to start feeling little kicks. have to work all weekend and memorial day but will still go to the parade and see the family for a few hours before my 3-11 shift. Anyway...bedtime!!

5/28/08

Had my doctor appt. today. Everything is going fine. My labs came back normal. Baby's heartrate is 147. I've gained about 17lbs already!! My belly has gotten a lot bigger in the last few days. I scheduled my ultrasound for June 12...how am I ever going to wait 2 more weeks???? :)

5/29/08

Feeling baby move more and more now, especially when I am laying down. I just found out that my best firend is having a baby girl (she's due a few weeks after me). I'm really excited about this because my son Andrew is just 2 days younger than her son AJ and now we are due around the same time this time too!! I can't wait to see what I'm having. I'd be happy either way but it would be cool if her baby and my baby were the same sex because our other kids get along pretty great.

Seems like forever to wait!!!!

5/30/08

Baby's Heartbeat at work today was 156 :)

6/4/08

What a week! I can't imagine anything else going wrong (I shouldn't say that, I know!) So...Sunday I took my 21month old to the beach...his favorite thing in the world is his sandbox and I thought the beach would absolutely amaze him. I was right. We got there and he said "wow!" and he played and had a ball...we were there during the hot, sunny part of the day and I applied sunblock about every hour. He put his feet in the water but the water was still too cold to play in. Anyway...I got him home that night and he had a pretty bad sunburn (I had good, name brand sunblock so I don't know why...maybe because it was the spray and didn't go on as much???? don't know) Anyway...he was fine...Monday morning he was normal..took him to the park with my cousin and her kids, went for a walk...ate lunch and took him to my mom's so i could go to work. I called to check on him and she said that his sunburn was hot and she kept putting aloe on it and he was very sleepy...probably from all the sun the day before. Then my husband picked him up and I called him before he went to bed to check on my son. He also said that Andrew was very sleepy and not running around like normal and he didn't really eat dinner. So...I get off work at 1130pm...go home, check on him at about 1150...he opened his eyes, looked at me and went back to sleep. Seemed fine. I was getting ready for bed and I heard him whine a little (does this a lot...usually I just let him fall back to sleep by himself but this time I went to check on him) When I looked at him he was just staring upward...I started calling his name and he was unresponsive..he was breathing but he was looking up and would not respond to me...so i went to pick him up and he was BURNING UP...i've never felt a person so HOT before. I took his shirt off and grabbed him and took him to the couch..it was then that he started having a seizure (all your nursing experience goes out the window when it's your own, I swear!) so i started freaking out..his eyes were still upward, he was drooling, shaking, seemed like he was choking on his tongue, getting pale...we called 911 and we took him in to the hospital..post seizure his temp was 103.8...seizure bring the fever down so who knows what it started with!!! Anyway..after a chest xray, head ct scan, blood cultures, urinalysis, lab work, urine culture, they checked his ears, lungs, throat, ect...we were able to go and his temp was down..,.he was ok all tues and then tues night he had a low grade fever but then wed he was fine and no fever at night...I have not slept...I watch him sleep and check his temp hourly!! Also...on Sat. I found out that my grandpa passed away :( It was very unexpected but he died peacefully in his sleep and he's with my grandma now so I feel ok about...but it's never easy. His services were yesterday and VERY hard. It was ironic that yesterday was my 3rd wedding anniversary...3 years ago yesterday I was at St. Joseph's church, very happy, ready to get married and then 3 years to the day later I'm saying a reading at my grandpa's funeral in the same church...it was sad. On to the next issue...Starting sunday morning I have been having cramps...felt more like intestinal cramps (like constipated ro something but I"m not) than menstrual cramps. It wasn't bad so I didn't think much of it. Tuesday I called my ob and they said if it gets worse to go to the hospital. Well...wed. after the funeral and during my little sisters graduation it go REALLY bad!! So I went in...they put me on the monitor...did an ultrasound...checked my urine...everything's ok so it's probably the way the baby is laying or something..I can deal with it as long as I know baby is ok!!! Heartrate was good in 160s. But I didn't get home until 2am and then I was up checking on my boy who woke me at 7 anyway. I feel stressed and tired and at least the cramps are better today but i'm a mess. Andrew is still not acting right so I'm going to follow up with his doctor today at some point...his fever is gone but he's just really irritable, pulling at his ears, not eating...3 different people checked his ears in the ER and they saidt hey looked fine but he's not acting fine. And I'm supposed to follow up with my OB today so I have to quickly shower and get me and my son ready and spend my last day off at drs offices :( and since we don't have appts they are going to have to squeeze us in whcih means a long wait. Also..there's no food in the house so i need to go shopping. I'm so tired and I feel terrible..I would call off tomorrow but we need the money. To top it all off my sister is in town from floriday who I probably won't be able to see at all *(except for the funeral) because of how busy I am. Oh well :( At least my babies are ok

oh and at my scan they said that baby weighed 450grams...which i think is 15.9 oz...could that be right??? big baby already!! i also measured at 21 weeks 2 days...but i am keeping my old dates because they are more accurate! :)

6/8/08

I'm having a boy!

So the other night I started cramping HORRIBLY!! So I went in to get checked out...they did a urine culture and put me on the monitor and then they did an ultrasound and IT'S A BOY!! I am so freakin excited I can hardly handle it. I thought I'd be disappointed if it wasn't a girl but I am the complete opposite. I can't wait for my little boy to have a little brother. Finding out the sex makes it so much more real and now I can hardly wait another 18 weeks!!! He's so cute and he weighs just about a pound now (15,9oz) I can't wait to hold my baby boy. I wish my son understood better but he's only 21months...I've been telling him there's a baby in my tummy but now when I ask him where's the baby he points to his tummy....he thinks he's got one in there too!! :) Too cute. I'm feeling a lot better now that I know baby is ok but there cramps are still there after I eat...turns out I have a lot of adhesions (scar tissue) from my last csection and they are pushing on my intestines so I'm pretty miserable after I eat...but If baby is ok...I can handle the pain...plus me stressing about myself, my son, my grandpa wasn't helping. I"m trying to keep calm a little more too!! Andrew (my son) is doing much better...turns out he had an ear infection and he's on antibiotics...thank GOD!!!!! It was so scary when he was sick. He's acting like himself and eating better too!! No more fever and no more seizure...forever i hope! Goodnight! :)

This pregnancy seems to be a lot easier than my last...my last pregnancy was pretty miserable...of course at this point during my last pregnancy I was moving into my house and painting and trying to unpack and I had bronchitis. I am really starting to enjoy it this time. I'm staying active...I take my son Andrew for walks everyday and we go swimming every once in a while....today we went and it was nice. I'm trying to eat better but the cravings are starting to kick in and it's for sweets which isn't good....hopefully I'm doing enough activity to counteract that.

6/29/08
I feel baby kick every once in awhile...I can't wait until it's more regular and all the time! It will ease my mind a little bit...yesterday at work someone came in 34 weeks pregnant and was in because she hadn't felt her baby move that day...well they did an ultrasound and there was no heartbeat. The umbilical cord was around baby's neck. It's rare, I know but still worries me. I know that I'm only 24 weeks but it still scares me if I don't feel baby move much. Anyway...other than the normal worries I'm doing well and enjoying every second of pregnancy. Getting bigger and having more cravings now...I hope I don't gain too much weight!! I don't remember cravings the last pregnancy...just the need to eat often...didn't matter what it was...I have been LOVING chocolate lately...so I better watch it!! Still going on my daily walks...when it's not raining that is...it's been raining a lot.

7/4/08

Another Dr. appt. yesterday. Everything's good. Baby's heartbeat is 150/min. I'm measuring right where I should be, my weight is good, my blood pressure is good. Moving right along to week 25 tomorrow. :)

Happy 4th of July!!!! Took Andrew to the carnival 2 days ago, the parade last night, a picnic today and now fireworks tonight..he is so excited!

I don't think you look big at all!!! Especially considering this is #2 for you! We can't listen to what those silly people say - - don't they know they're not supposed to comment on how big we are ??? :0)

mcflyfan - Friday, 4 July
don't know why my midwife hasn't actually got my bf to have a blood test... coz he might be negative as well, and then i wouldn't need the injection... but he doesn't know his blood group, so going to have it done just incase he is positive and the baby has his blood group

t555rm - Friday, 4 July
Thanx for yr response, dapie898.

mcflyfan - Friday, 4 July
not really sure if it meant to be D... got some letter thing from the midwife about it, and it keeps going on about me being rhesus negative, and that they've changed it to D negative for some reason... don't really know much about blood groups and stuff like that, only just found out what mine was, lol... might be coz i'm in the UK and they've named stuff different... had someone mention that in Canada they name the anti-d injection as 'Rh shot'

MrsKiwi - Tuesday, 1 July
Andrew Ryan sounds nice! Have you had any ideas yet with this one, or still completely unsure? I just read your page... my goodness, what a scare you had last month with your son! I'm glad to read he's doing well now. What a cutie he is!

Madisons-Mom - Tuesday, 24 June
Yeah, it will probably be good for them in the long run, it's just so hard right now, to think that the special time you spend with them is going to be taken away =( but I guess we just have to stay positive =) hope your having a good day....
