MY BIRTHING STORY!

I was supposed to have my scheduled C-section on 11/6 @12pm but to my surprise it didn't happen that way. It was Halloween evening and I decided to take the walk with my mom and daughter for trick or treating. I have never missed a trick or treat night with my daughter so I decided to go. The only reason I went, I went to the doctors that morning and my doctor told me that I wasn't going into labor any time soon. Well the joke was on me. We got back at 8:30 and my mom stayed until 9 and I jumped on the computer to kill time. Around 9 or 9:15, couldn't really tell you since I didn't really look at the clock, I heard this pop, I looked at my daughter and said did you hear that. Of course she didn't and I jumped up since I thought I was going crazy. All of a sudden a gush of water went down my leg. I ran so quickly to the bathroom and grabbed towels and shoved them between my legs LOL! I called the hubby and told him I am leaving to the hospital since my water just broke. My daughter grabbed my purse and my keys, we were off to the hospital. I got to the hospital at 9:30pm, parked my car on the second floor and took the elevator down. We walked very slowly since I could feel the more water come down. We went up to labor and delivery and I told the nurse that my water broke. She looked at me with this stupid look on her face and said they were really booked and they didn't have a bed for me! I said that I was suppose to have my C-section that following Tuesday. Boy did all the nurses jump up, they quickly took me off to the recovery room where they have one bed left. They hooked me all up to the machines, my nurse introduced herself to me and said if I had any pains. The nice thing was I didn't feel a thing, my hubby finally shows up and the nurse gives him the scrubs to put on and told him that he had to hurry. Now mind you it's now 11pm and she said they need to get me into surgery ASAP. Now not feeling any pain apparently I was having contractions every 3 minutes and never knew it. I was almost dilated to 10 and they didn't want the baby to come out naturally, so I was sent off. It was 11:20 and they gave me the epidural and was completely numb. I was laying there and they let the hubby in. All of a sudden I started to smell this nasty burning smell. The hubby said they were cutting me open. Before I knew it I hear this loud cry, the doctor's were laughing since he was still in my stomach and only his head was sticking out. My little man was very angry from the very start, he didn't want OUT. They get him out and he is screaming so loud. I started to cry, he is so beautiful, he had all this hair and very fair. My son was born on Halloween night at 11:39pm and I am so happy that he is here. He is 15 days old today and he trys to stay up during the day which is nice since he sleeps well at night but he gets very fussy during the day.

NOVEMBER 5 2007

Hey everyone, I finally had my son! I went into labor early and had an emergency C-section on Halloween. The joy of seeing my son for the first was beautiful. He cried while his head was just popped out of belly. The doctor said he was angry that they took him out. He weighed 7lb 7ounces and was 18inches long. I was discharged from the hospital yesterday but I had to leave my baby. My baby has severe Yellow Jaundice and they had to get him better. I cried all they way home yesterday, I wanted him home with me. So I am getting ready now to go breast feed him and see what his doctor says about him being better today. I hoping he tells me that my son can go home. I will post pictures up later.

November 29th 2007

Today my son smiled at me for the very first time. He is almost a month old and I totally cried when he did it. I love him so much

December 1st 2007

Today my son coo'ed for the very first time, he was very interested in the sound he made that he continued to to make it. It's very awesome to have my son here. He is so loving and wants lots of love. It always makes me emotional just thinking of it.

December 9th 2007

Now knowing that I have to go back to work in Feb, I am getting a little nervous on getting my son bottle trained, since he is fully breast fed, tonight was the first night he finally took the bottle, he put my mind at ease. I will continue breast feeding him but to know that he will take the bottle helps alot.

December 12th 2007

Today was a happy day for hubby and his big sister, he finally looked at them and smiled. The hubby was getting kind of upset since he wouldn't smile at him LOL. Now he smiles at everyone and just smiles all the time.

December 17th 2007

So since my son has finally got smiling down, I was wondering when he will finally giggle. Out of my surprise, I looked at him and said something and he just giggled. He has the cutest giggle, it reminds me of my daughters giggle when she was a baby. I love looking forward to all the new things he can do.

January 6th 2007

So my son has been laughing and giggling but he watches his TV show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and out of no where he was giggling at donald duck, I think it's the voice that cracks him up. He loves that show.

January 11th 2007

So my son at night loves to suck on his hands while he sleeps due to teething. But now all he does he stares at his hand. He looks at it and just stares for a long time, then he tries to shove the whole thing in his mouth LOL! It's interesting when babies discover new things and what they try to do with it.

January 20th 2007

Yes!!! No more waking up every three hours, my son sleeps from 8pm-5:30am. Oh my gosh, I was so happy, finally to get some sleep, the only problem with this is, I wake up and my boobs are so hard and sore from not feeding at night, I hope it adjust to his sleeping habit.

January 21st 2007

My son has rolled over from stomach to back for the first time. He now can roll over both ways, I am so excited, I can wait to see what else he will be able to do.

Thanks so much for the recipes...I'll give them a shot once he starts eating solids!

Maybe one fruit and one veggie recipe that was your daughter's favorite. I'll look for those trays...I didn't know they sold them so thanks for telling me. Would the magic bullet be ok for making the food? What do you use? Do you use the store bought rice cereal?

Hey stranger!! I never get on here anymore since I had Nathan. I should be logging all of his 'firsts' on here like you do!! Your son is friggin ADORABLE!! I will post some of mine sometime this week and then message you. How's everything going?? I had mediation with my son's dad on Jan. 22, so I finally SAW him! It was weird, too much to say via message. But nothing major will happen until our court hearing which is on March 3. He still has not seen him or asked to see him. Supposedly he saw some of the baby's pics on my MySpace, but either way he has not made a single attempt to see him.

Maybe I'll start introducing a little cereal to him soon. So they can eat it by the spoon? How much do you give him? My son only eats for about 5-10 minutes because I have such forceful letdown that he has to guzzle it down or he chokes. How do you make your own juice..with a juicer? I'd love to make my own food, but I'm not sure how to. I guess I'll look it up on the internet or look for a good book? Where did you learn how to make all your own stuff?

I have just started pumping and freezing my breastmilk just to have in case of an emergency or something happens to me that I have to stop breastfeeding for a few days. I keep getting mastitis so it may come to the point where I have to go an a different antibiotic that I can't breastfeed while taking so at least he'll still get breastmilk not formula in that situation. I'm so hesitant to give him a bottle because I love breastfeeding and don't want to do anything to jeopardize it. However, I guess I should do it soon if I want him to ever take one because I'm sure when he's older I'll want the freedom to go out and not be in a rush to hurry home to breastfeed. Does your son still take to the breast the same as before the bottle was introduced? I've heard that they start to prefer the bottle over the breast because it's less work. I guess I just don't want to lose the bond I get with breastfeeding and now have to share the feeding with others once the bottle is introduced. I'll try him with the bottle a few times to see, but probably continue to breastfeed mostly. Do you give the cereal to him on its own or mixed in a bottle? I didn't know we could introduce juices and stuff in the first year. Did the pediatrician tell you it's ok? I was wanting to give Matthew a little water now and then, but I'm scared to do something that might hurt him.

Congrats to you and your newest little steeler fan!!! That's adorable!! My husband and I already have a whole stack of steeler gear for our little one that we're expecting in July!! We haven't found out if its a boy or a girl yet, but one thing's for sure...it will certainly be a steeler fan!! Congrats!!

Hi, thank you for your advice. Do you use the humidifer just during the night when your baby is asleep? Do you use it during the day at all?

- Kristine - - Sunday, 3 Feb
Do you know if there is a certain age at which it's too late to introduce the bottle for the first time? I was told by someone that she waited 6 months before introducing the bottle and by that point her baby wouldn't take it. About the teething, do you actually see the teeth coming through the gums at this point or are they still beneath the surface getting ready to come down?

10.12.07 - Sunday, 3 Feb
good for you to keep brest feeding! two months is when my mom started me on pablem..every baby is differnt and moms SURE know best!! i was just looking at your pictures your son is beautiful!!!

I was having the same problem with him pooping all the time...therefore having diaper rash. I tried the butt paste and have been so happy with it! I have to order it from the States and have my mom mail it to me seeing as you can't find the large jars here in Canada. I love the stuff! Awww, you have a little Halloween baby! I kept thinking I was going to have one too, but he stayed in there and came on Nov 1st by induction. My little guy was 9lb 1oz and now weighs 20lbs!! He's a big boy with chubby cheeks! I was looking at your pictures and your son is beautiful! I love his eyes, so soft and sweet looking. How's motherhood treating you? I have the same problem with my boobs being sore in the mornings. Some days or worse than others though. I can deal with it so long as he sleeps through the night. I'm just so paranoid about them getting infected again because I had mastitis a month ago and I'm so terrified to get it again and have to go on a 3rd course of antibiotics. How's your son taking to the bottle feeding? I haven't tried it yet. I can't believe your son is rolling over already!! I hope Matthew isn't behind because he hasn't rolled at all.
