Birth and Baby journal:

Isaac Miguel Hernandez was born the 22nd of May 2008. It was on a Thursday and I had a doctors appointment. Come to my surprise she came in and was like "ok mommy round the troops you will have the baby today" I was like WHAT!! My blood pressure was rising and she didn't want me to have the same complications I had w/ my daughter. My husband rushed home and we went to the hospital. It went fast b/c I delivered him via c-section. Everything went well. My son look so much like his big sister! He was 7lbs 6oz and 18" long. He was 3wks early. His due date was June 8th.

baby

1st Month

His 3wk check up went well. He is so brave. He didn't cry when they did the PKU! He sleeps all day and breast feeding is such a battle. He doesn't get full and want to latch on every hr. I'll update next month on how we are doing!

2nd Month

Nothing has changed except for the fact that i'm not breastfeeding. I got really sick for 2wks w/ real high fever so i was pumping and by the end of the 2wks my supply was real low! Isaac is doing very well though. He is so active and love to smile. He is getting so big and very long (gets it from mommy and daddy) He started sleeping through out the night at the end of his second month so I'm soooo grateful. So far he's been such a good baby!

3rd Month

I took him to the doctor this month and he is 14.8lbs and 25" long. Yes he is sooooo long. He is still sleeping through out the night and does well w/ formula. He talks, laughs, plays, and smile alot. He is such a happy baby! We are still in Month 3 so I'll be adding.

I've known my husband for 7yrs. Out of those 7 we've been married 5yrs. I found out I was pregnant w/ my 1st 7mo's into our marriage. We were both scared and not prepared but life gives you suprises and w/ God's blessing we stumbled through it but made it. She is a true blessing. She's our little princess. Almost 4yrs later I'm pregnant w/ our 2nd. I can say that we are stronger as a couple and as parents that we are very excited and ready to have our 2nd. Wish us luck while we venture in our newest journey together.

April 7, 2008

I'm 31 weeks as of yesterday (sunday) and well at this point nothing major has happened! Just counting down the days as they get closer. I'm having a planned c-section due to the fact that I had complication w/ my first. My doctors appointments will be on tuesday so hopefully I can schedule my delivery date. I'm feeling alot of heartburn and baby hernandez is moving quite a bit. Well he is moving alot. I find myself eating less and drinking a whole lot of water! We are almost done painting my daughters room so hopefully by this weekend we can finish it 100%, that way I can start decorating the babies room. We started his room first but my 3yr old daughter started getting a little jealous and wanted us to paint her room so here we are still not done painting and getting closer to my due date! Still soooooo much to do and get before the baby gets here and it seems as if nothing is ever gonna be done! Can't wait to welcome my son!

April 9, 2008

I went to my doctors visit yesterday and I got to see my little one! He's heart beat is 156 and weighs 3.7lbs. I only gained 2lbs since my last visit so I'm doing good so far. I will finally have a date picked by my next appointment for the c-section. I was thinking May 30th. Only b/c its on a friday and it's perfect for my husbands schedule. I took the hospital tour which was wonderful. I'm sooooo happy that I will have my little Isaac there! I will keep everyone posted.

April 14, 2008

We are 100% done rearranging my room and my daughters room! We are about 90% done w/ the nursery! I'm finally relaxed and not so stressed out w/ all the decorating and moving furniture around. Baby Isaac is moving alot. Having terrible back pain! Can't wait till my next dr's visit on the 22nd of April!

April 22, 2008

I had my doctors appointment yesterday and everything looks good. I'm having my c-section on the 30th of May around noon! I'm soooo excited. But right now I'm really frustrated at work! It is starting to get hard for me. I'm falling asleep behing the wheel going home and I want to start leaving early but my supervisor is a real b**ch! I can't concentrate, i'm slacking off, and i'm making mistakes. Which is not me at all! I'm always on top of my work. Dont know what to do! :( Hope everyone else is doing better!

May 7, 2008

I had a doctors appointment on the 5th and she did an internal exam. Doc says Isaac is really low but that I was not dilating! I've gained a total of 60lbs and it really made me cry all the way home. Dont understand the weight gain since i'm doing everything by the book! The good thing is that I dont even look like I've gained that much! Today has been wierd for me cuz I've been up since 3 a.m with these wierd pains on my stomach and lower back. I think they are the bh contraction everyone else is having! All I can think about right now is that I need to clean the house when I get home but I'm sooooo tired! Good thing I get out in like 20mins.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

It is normal for babies to start drooling at 2 months even if they aren't teething. Their saliva glands start producing more saliva at that age and they don't know how to control it.

I'm guessing is similar to regular acid reflux -- I had that when I was pregnant. Here's a link with more info:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/infant-acid-reflux/DS00787

My friends son has really bad acid reflux! He spits up throughout the day, and has projectile spit up after feedings -- sometimes it's so bad that it comes out of his nose! So I would say that you have nothing to worry about :) How old is your son?

tpage - Friday, 29 August
My Son has reflux too, he's 3 months old. I took him to the Dr. and these are the things that they said:

Smaller, more frequent feeds
Burp really well.
Hold him upright for at least 20 min after eating.
And that a lot of babies go through this and it should go away in a couple of months.
Hope this helps :)

My daughter has reflux and they gave her something for it. No telling what your's will do, but they gave Lexie Albuterol Sulf liquid.

They told me most babies grow out of reflux by the time they are sitting up...so keep up hope...LOL.

Good luck!!!

Hey Lady~ I have a thumb sucker as well and I'll tell you, she sleeps about 12 hours straight every night. I don't have to wake up looking for a pacifier, she doesn't wake up hungry, she just soothes herself throughout the night. When she started sucking her thumb, my first instinct was to worry about whether or not her teeth would come in crooked until I did some research. Here are a couple of paragraphs based on an article written by the American Dental Association.

Is thumb sucking harmful? The American Dental Association says that thumb sucking does not cause permanent problems with the teeth or jaw line unless it is continued beyond 4 to 5 years of age. In teething babies, thumb sucking doesn't cause tooth decay. Tooth decay is caused by bacteria, not sucking. Sucking a thumb does not cause misalignment of milk teeth if the baby stops before 4 to 5 years of age. Any misalignment at this stage - up to the age of about 6 - is temporary as it affects only the milk teeth, and not the secondary.

Most babies will stop thumb sucking all by themselves. Some will stop at an early age, whilst others are much later. Many parents are concerned that thumb sucking at a late age is a sign of emotional immaturity or lack of self-confidence. Studies have showed that this is not the case; only when parents made it an issue, was the child affected emotionally or psychologically.

Constantly pulling your child's thumb out of her mouth is not the best way of stopping her sucking. This approach can leave your baby feeling confused and in need of support - her thumb! Instead, you should try to create an environment where she chooses to stop on her own. You can weaken the thumb-sucking habit by distracting her when you notice her thumb in her mouth. Get her involved in something that uses both hands. You can also buy commercial products that you can paint on her thumbs. They are harmless but have an unpleasant taste. Another tactic is to use peer pressure and others outside of the immediate family. Children want to grow up; being in the company of others who don't suck their thumb can be a powerful incentive to stop. Lastly, don't worry. Children pick up parents' stress very easily. If you make her feel stressful then she will continue to suck.

Don't worry too much about your child's habit of sucking her thumb. All children do it at some stage of their life and all children stop it at some stage of their life. All too soon, her habit will seem like a long and faded memory.

Here is the link if you would like to read the rest of the article:

Hope that helps! Your little darling will be fine. My advice would be to let him find his own way. TTYL! Courtney xoxo

Sucking is a natural and comforting behavior for an infant and a way for your baby to soothe himself. They also normally grow out of it on their own well before school age and there has been studies that show that thumb sucking does not cause crooked teeth. Let you baby suck his thumb, it's not only cute but will help them sleep (and you!!) at night! Caleb just found his thumb and I think it's soooooo cute!!!!

ABCMommy - Tuesday, 26 August
thumb sucking at this age is normal, they do not know or understand how to sooth themselves so they use sucking to calm themselves down. By six months of age thought they should have learned how to calm themselves down using other methods and that is when thumb sucking should be stoped around. At least this is what I have read in Baby 411 and agree with it. Hope that helps out!

to post a picture on the development page, you need to upload your photo(s) or videos to photobucket.com. After you load them it shows an html link. Just copy that, then paste it on the development page in the comment box. Oh, one more thing, on the photobucket site where you load your pic, just make sure to mark medium, or the pic will show up very big when you paste it. Hope this helps. Mickie
