Birth Story:

At 4:30 am on October 4, 2007 I arrived at the Hospital for a scheduled induction. I was 38 1/2 weeks pregnant. I was checked into my room around 5am, hooked up to the fetal monitors and had an IV started. I was 2cm dilated and 85% effaced. I was having mild contractions, but nothing that was unbearable.

Around 8am Dr. Cole came in to check my progress, I was 4 cementers dilated. She told me that she was going to come back around 9am to break my water. About 10 minutes after she left my water broke on it's own. A huge uncontrolable gush of fluid came rushing out and soaked my bed sheets. (makes me happy that I was at the hospital and not some where in public. That would have been embarassing.) After my water broke, My contractions were getting more intentse. Thats when I called for the anesthesiologist and my epidural. To my surprise the epidural was painless I didn't feel a thing.

After my epidural was in place, they attach a fetal heart monitor to the top of my babys head. It was more efficient then the heart monitor around my tummy. I had a foley catheter put in. I thought it was going to hurt, but it didn't. I couldn't even feel it. It was nice not having to get out of bed every 5 minutes to use the restroom.

At 10am the nurse came in and checked me again. I was almost a full 6cm dilated. After she checked me, another huge gush of fluid came rushing out, It was like my water broke again... this would happen another 2 times before I finally gave birth. It was weird. I was filled with tons and tons of extra fluid. Since I was progressing so fast, I started calling all of my friends and family to tell them ok any time now. HAHA lol boy was I wrong. Pretty much after I called everyone, I stopped dilating. From this point on I just did a lot of waiting. During my time of waiting, my epidural kept wearing off so I had to keep calling the anesthesiologist for more shots of pain medicine. I probably got about 5 shots of extra pain medicine through out the day. The pain just kept comming back. The only bad part about the pain medicine was, it made me very nauseous for about 5 minutes and I would throw up everytime. But it was worth it, it was like a gift from heaven. Instant pain relief and it made me feel so relaxed but also very sleepy.

Ok so around 8:45 pm after several hours of waiting I was finally 9cm. The nurse had me start pushing, so I could start moving my baby down the birth canal. I had been pushing for a while and I wanted to give up, I had horriable prssure pain and was so tired. When Dr.Cole arrived, I asked her to please do a C section. She agreed but reminded me that it was major surgery and the recovering time would be a lot longer. Dr. Cole left and my best friend Mr. Anesthesiologist came in and gave me more pain medicine. ahhh the pain was gone again. Dr. Cole came back and since my pain was subsiding again, I started to have second thoughts about the C section. I talked myself back into having my baby naturally. I kept telling myself, I can do this. So finally around 9:20pm I was almost a full 10cm and it was time to really start pushing.

I pushed and pushed. And just when I thought I was pushing as hard as I could, the nurse was encouraging me to push harder. Saying you can do this Diana, you're doing a great job. It was actually a very good motivator. I pushed for about 45 minutes. So it was a total of about 2 1/2 hours from first push to last push. Finally at 11:17 pm out popped my little girl. Or I should say my BIG girl. Sydney Nicole McAndrews weighed in at 9lbs 13oz and was 22in long. I had just given birth to a giant. I had to get an episiotomy but it wasn't bad, I was still numb from the epidural so I didn't feel a thing. lol My recovery was fast and painless, things have healed up quite nicely and I'm feel pretty much back to normal. Holding my daughter for the first time was one of the most exciting and joyous times of my life.

**Before Sydney was born.. Read Below**

Your 1st trimester: January 05, 2007 to April 05, 2007. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: April 06, 2007 to July 19, 2007. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: July 20, 2007 to October 12, 2007. (28 - 40 weeks)

I have had a wonderful pregnancy so far.. I only had some killer morning sickness during my first trimester, other than that... just the normal pregnancy symptoms.

I found out May 24, 2007 that we are

Bobby and I are sooo excited about having a daughter. All Bobby can talk about is, how he can't wait to hold his little baby girl for the first time.
I am . Bobby and I will be baby on OCTOBER 12, 2007. She will be here just in time for HaLLoWeeN. I can't wait!! We have went through many names, but we finally found one we can agree on. We decided to name our baby girl

My pregnancy story so far...
Well, I guess my whole journey started off one night when my boyfriend (Bobby) and I went out and had a couple of drinks came home and well, weren't as careful as we should have been. Now, I don't know the exact date of which this happened, but I can almost guarantee thats how this pregnancy got started. The "pull out" method had failed us. haha lol ~ (just a side note): Bobby and I have been together for the last 3 1/2 almost 4 years and we have lived together for the last year and a half. So it's not as bad as it sounds.. It actually makes me feel bad that I was able to get pregnant so easily.. I mean, I see all these women on here TTC, having to take fertility drugs and mark out on there callendars ovulation days. The're really struggling and emotionally and physically drained.. And here I am some 21 year old, who wasn't even trying to get pregnant and was being careless.. and opps i'm pregnant. I just wish I could give my baby making abilities to all the women who are hoping and praying to get pregnant.. So baby dust to all who are TTC. So bascially what I'm tring to say here is that our daughter was not planned. In fact I was in shock that i was pregnant! But, reguardless of how our daughter started her life in this world, Bobby and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. She is our new pride and joy and we already love her to death.

During the first trimester..
I had horriable morning sickness.. bascially I compare this to death. I seriously felt like I was going to die and not make it through this pregnancy. I was sick ALL of the time - morning, afternoon and night. I lost like 10lbs at the begining of my pregnancy due to the extreme vomiting. I couldn't eat and I could barely drink.. I was so miserable. To make things worse one of my friends was pregnant at the time.. and she was always telling how great she was feeling. grrr i wanted to punch her in her face : ). Plus on top of feeling sick, i was always sooo damn tired. I could not get enough sleep for the life of me. I would come home straight from work and sleep until the next morning, until had to get up for work and do it all over again. I feel like I missed out on three months of my life due to vomiting and sleeping. Everyone kept telling me it would get better, oh course I didn't believe them, but eventually it did get better. What they say is true, well true for me anyways.. Was that one day you will wake up and be hungry and the morning sickness will have just went away.. It's like it never happened. Thats when I knew I was on to my second trimester.

Second trimester here I come...
During my second trimester I started feeling really good. I got a lot of my energy back, which was great. I finally started to grow a pregnant tummy and not just a fat one. I got to find out the sex of our baby and I finally was able to feel her move and kick. I have to say the middle of my pregnancy was really good, I didn't mind being pregnant. I think really the only complaints had during my 2nd trimester were.. the growing pains of my uterus, thoes were not fun. Oh and for like a week every night I would wake up with this pain in my side, but a little bit more towards my back. Well this pain would wake me up and bring me to tears.. it hurt sooooo bad. I still have no clue what was the cause of it but, I hurt something awful. I also read a ton and I mean a ton of pregnancy books... seeing as my boyfriend is the general manager of a books-a-million he was always bring me home more and more books to read. So i kinda feel like i'm an expert on this pregnancy thing.. lol if your interested in reading some books just ask me and i can give you a few that were very informative and interesting. Currently i'm reading the book first time parents by: Dr. Miriam Stoppard.. I really like this book. Because not only does it describe things it will also show you pictures of what the're describing. Near the end of my 2nd trimester is when I started to really put on weight. This is when i started to crave sour stuff, I just remember being more hungry during this time in my pregnancy.

Finally 3rd trimester.. I have made it...
Well currently I am in my final strech of pregnancy. I am soo HAPPY that I have made it this far. Looking back several months ago.. I thought I would have never made it this far. I honestly can say that I am done being pregnant. I am getting so sore all over, nothing helps sitting, standing, walking, sleeping, breathing, yawning... it all hurts. Plus I am just getting so anxious to meet my little girl. Yesterday she kicked her daddy in the face. He LOVED it! He just thought it was the coolest thing, so he kept trying to make her do it again.. but her already being like her mother was being stubborn and decided that one time was enough and she didn't feel like doing it again. lol My doctor is concerned that i'm gaining to much weight, I agree I have been eating pretty much what ever I want.. not making as healthy choices as iIshould be.. so with these last few weeks I have left.. I'm making a promise to myself that I'm going to make healthier eating choices and drink more water. cut down on some of the carbs. B/C thats mostly what I have been eating... yummy yummy carbs.. oh how I love them. Plus no more cheese enchiladas : ( I love them soo much. I want some right now. It has been a long long journey and soon it will come to an end.. and I'm sure I'm going to miss it, So i'm just going to try and really enjoy these last few weeks of pregnancy and try and enternalize the feeling having my little one growing and living inside of me. remember the kicks and rolls, and the aches and pains.. b/c before i know it she will be here.. then she will grow up and be out on here own starting a family one day. (tear) lol awwww I am SOO excited, I can't wait for her to get here. : )

We had a great Valentines I got Dinner, Roses, Balloons, and a basket of my favorite goodies. It was really nice. My Husband and I both have sinus infections so romance kind of took a back seat (lol)!!! How was yours? How's Ms.Sydney doing? Talk to you later!!!~Laura

Hey hunnie!! We did decide on a name, it's going to be Brayden Joseph.

I've been feeling good. Yesterday I almost fainted at the grocery store, so I'm going to mention it to the doctor on the 27th when I go for my check up. One girl said I could be hypoglycemic, another said anemic. I just hope it's neither :] other than that, today I started to feel like I was getting a cold or something so I think I'm going to make a doctors appointment in the morning just to check it checked out & be on the safe side. Especially because they've had a flu outbreak here in TN again.

Jared hasn't told his parents yet. He was going to & then his mom & sister saw a boy in the mall who looked no older than Jared with his very heavily pregnant girlfriend & came home & started screaming at Jared about how she hopes that never happens to him because it's a liferuiner so now he's like horrified to tell his mom & right now I would be to if I was him lol that poor boy just can not catch a break lol

is little miss Sydney keeping you busy? How've you been other than busy!

Khylie - Monday, 11 Feb
Yeah thats what my mom was saying.
Dammit!
I want her here now.
This morning I woke up witht his really sharp pain on my left side it didn't go away for about an hour.
It wasn't on and off it was constant.
It hurt so bad I was pretty much in tears, and it got to the point where I could hardly move.
Do you know what it could be from??

me and my mom are doing good.
I haven't mentioned anything to her about Dan and stuff.
Im going to wait until after the baby is born so maybe her mind will change.
Hopefully..

Khylie - Saturday, 9 Feb
Hey!
Yeah this is miserable.
Im soo freakin tired of being pregnant.
Its not fun anymore.
I feel like shes never going to come.
Im 1 cm dilated and shes in position.
How much longer do you think?
Do they normally come fast when their in position?

onelove - Friday, 8 Feb
Hey Girlie! Have a great weekend! Maybe you could try putting a little cereal in her bottle to get her belly used to it. Gage was horrible the first couple times eating but he's slowly getting the hang of it. Bye girl-enjoy the nice weather~Laura

onelove - Friday, 8 Feb
Hey there! I'm glad Sydney's appointment went well. It sucks having to watch them suffer through the shots. How much does she weigh and how long? WHOA-that's crazy about the 11 pound kid and it was four weeks early-I hope the mom had a c-section (HEHEHE). My friend had a baby in Oct we were actually due within a week of eachother but she had him the end of Oct and at his 2 month check up on Dec he was already 17 pounds BIG BOY! I'm glad you like the slideshow of my pics. It's seems so long ago that he was in the hospital and all the craziness that went along with it, but I'm glad we documented it to look back on and appreciate how far he's come. My Husband also recorded the first time I got to see him-but that's a little too hard to watch. I think I've only looked at it once. How did Sydney sleep last night? Has she started rolling over yet? Thanks again for the update and I added you to my friends list! Talk to you soon!~Laura

congrats on your baby girl shes a beautiful

taren - Tuesday, 5 Feb
So i read that post that luvbeingamom wrote and that is scary! My husband did have to have jaw surgery like when he would bite a sandwich the meat would stay and just the bread would come off because he had a huge gap, but he is better now. His teeth are fine.

luvbeingamom - Tuesday, 5 Feb
I hope i didn't scare you. It is hard to break a kid from sucking their thumb. I wish you all the luck. try dipping the binki in milk/formula or even just water, maybe she will be more inclinded to take it. Maybe see if you can use a blanket to comfort her so she will be use to that instead of her thumb. Good luck.

luvbeingamom - Tuesday, 5 Feb
I read your comment out the thumb sucking! Stop it now if you can. My friends daughter just had a device put in her mouth that is made up of a cage and spikes. That way she can't get suction on her thumb and it will hurt her tongue if she tries. She is 8 and was unable to soothe herself any other way. SO on top of this device she is now having sleeping issues b/c she can no longer soothe herself. Also my husband sucked his thumb when he was younger and has some VERY messed up teeth/pallet! When my older son started putting his thumb in his mouth i would pull it out and stick a binki in his mouth. It worked great. He stopped sucking his thumb took the binki for a couple months and then finished with that and spit it out and has never looked at it again. Another option is to put gloves on your little one. The little baby mittins. I don't want to scare you but that was always one of my fears. My little one is eating his hand now but that is a teething thing. I am still pulling it out of his mouth and stinking his binki back in there. Good Luck!

khylie - Tuesday, 5 Feb
Im just really hoping that she'll change her mind once the baby is here.
She is really stubborn though so I duno.
She doesn't like my boyfriends parents much.
It's not that she doesn't trust them they just got in a huge arguement when everyone first found out I was pregnant.
She holds grudges.
I just hope everything ends up going good because I wouldn't want to have to pick between my mom and boyfriend.

khylie - Monday, 4 Feb
hey
haha yeah I wish I had my baby.
She doesn't want to come out :[
Im doing pretty good.
I have a question for you.
Im only 16, and my mom is saying how me and the baby can never stay the night at Dans house.
And I don't know what to do.
Dan and his mom have so much stuff set up they have all these clothes daipers, a cradle bed stuff, bouncer, glider, a stroller, carseat, diaper bag.
Shes bought so much. and there helping so much.
There even paying for half the hospital bill.
and I feel like Dan has a right to have the baby stay the night.
He should get to spend as much time with her as he wants.
And my mom is saying how were not going to be playing house.
Were not staying over there.
What should I do?
What would you do?

taren - Monday, 4 Feb
ok ok it's just a faze =)so where in houston are you at again. I think we were very close. I am in the spring branch area.

sandy127962 - Monday, 4 Feb
your little one is so cute we have the same bouncer although Dana seems less interested in it lately. She much prefers her exersaucer and jumperoo. My sister and husband eventually broke her of sucking her thumb by telling her that her thumb would turn black if she continued. One night they dipped it in food coloring so it would be black and it scared her silly in the morning. They told her if she stopped it might turn the right color and she did. Eventually the coloring wore off and she never sucked it again. She is 11 now. I know it seems extreme but they tried other things and it did no real harm.

onelove - Monday, 4 Feb
I totally understand we are the same way about our dogs/babies. We don't go anywhere without them and they have been spoiled since day one. Porsche' sometimes gets a little overprotective if a lot of people are over and Gage starts crying she will get real close to Gage (she liks to mother him) and Elvis likes to lick him but I had to seriously put a stop to that because it's just gross! I hate it that we can't give them as much one on one time as before and when the baby is on the floor playing Elvis has to go in his Kennel because he's only 2 and he doesn't realize how strong/heavy he is and I'm scared he might accidently bump into the baby. I can't wait until Gage gets older, I know he and Elvis will be tight! Let me know how things go with Syney at the Dr.s. Talk to you later~Laura

trusting - Monday, 4 Feb
Thank you for your reply. I am scheduled for my yearly pap next month...at my 6 week postpartum check up my stitches hadn't healed so I don't know....but I'm def. going to ask...something just seems wrong...I'm like how in the world can I have more than 1 kid...lol...and holy cow you had a big baby...and I love the name...

taren - Monday, 4 Feb
Good glad things are going well. We pay $815 a month. I hate leaving him in the day care. i mean it is nice and he is well taken care of, but i miss him a ton!! I know his hair is so funny! I normally sticks straight up! I love babies they are the cutest ever!! Sydney is adorable! I am just about ready to have another one. =) May sound crazy but i want my kids close in age my husband does as well. So Yeah we may have a few thumb suckers may it will be just a faze, but i doubt it.

taren - Monday, 4 Feb
Hey just a little on the whole thumb sucking thing. My son is 4 months old now and he sucks on his a lttle, but i think if they are going to do it there is really nothing you can do. My husband sucked on his until he was almost 5. SO i know what you mean. Hopefully it doesn't turn in to a habit. Other than that how are things going?

onelove - Monday, 4 Feb
Thanks for the comments on our pups! Yes my Husband had Porsche' before we got together and then we saved/adopted Elvis when he was 6 weeks old. We have people all the time saying OH MY GOD you have those dogs around your baby aren't you scared. We know that they are the sweetest dogs and they know not to get in his face and they really don't pay him too much attention. They are such great dogs and I hate that they get such a bad rap we just tell people to punish the deed not the breed. I love Chloe's coloring too. How does she get along with Sydney?

onelove - Monday, 4 Feb
Oh I know I hate having to see Gage go through that. I wish I could say it gets easier but for me I just have to stare at him and keep telling him it's okay. Don't you wish we could take the shots for them (poor babies). You'll have to let me know how it goes with her appointment. With the babies the 'Santa' (Kellan) was born in July, the X-mas tree (Colton) was born in October, and the twins Carlee and Austin were born in December. Yes Gage is lucky to have all these new cousins unfortunatley most of them live out of state but at least we'll have some fun at the Holidays. Next year should be pretty interesting with 5 babies RUNNING around the house. We had a major BABY BOOM in my family this year!
