Hi, My name is Diane and I am 11 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Can't wait till Sunday to reach the big 12!! My due date is October 28th. This will be my 3rd child as I have two from a previous relationship. Jack who is 11 and Oliver who is 7 so it's been a while since I did this and I can't remember ANYTHING!!! It all seems new again! It will be my boyfriends (Adam) 1st baby and we are both so excited and Jack and Oli are looking forward to having a baby brother or sister!! My first scan is April 25th and we can't wait. Here in the UK we don't get much intervention. I told the doctor I was pregnant 6 weeks ago and thats it!! No checks or anything. I think we will probably find out the sex when we can. I would like a little girl but really it's not such a big deal

15th April 07

12 weeks today!!!!! We have our first scan on 25th April. By that time I will be nearly 14 weeks. I wish it was earlier. I wonder if they will be able to tell the sex at that stage? I have friends who had private scans at 12 weeks and they were told the sex!

29th April 2007

Had our first scan on Wed. It was amazing. Just one baby so thats good and we got to see the heartbeat but didn't hear it. Baby was waving arms and legs around and sucking its fingers. They weren't able to say if it was a boy or a girl as they said it was too soon. Thats it now, no more scans untill i'm 22 weeks in June. I have my blood tests in 2 weeks for downs but wasn't offered any other tests such as nuchal scan that I keep reading about. We don't seem to get much over here in the UK unless you're over 35 and as I am 34 it's a bit worrying. Might look into getting some tests done privately just to put my mind at rest!

6th May 2007 - 15 weeks today

I couldn't wait any longer!!!! Yesterday we paid to have a sexing scan. There is a place in the town we live in that does 3d/4d scans and also 2d sexing scans from 16 weeks. We popped in yesterday to get a better idea of prices etc and the guy said they'd take a look there and then and if they couldn't tell I could always go back in a couple of weeks. Well. I lay on the bed and the two people scanning could tell straight away. IT'S A GIRL!!! They pointed out the 3 lines that they look for which indicates the labia and it was really clear to see. I'm Soooo happy!!!

23rd May 2007 - 17 weeks 3 days.

Well, last week was stressfull! Last Tuesday night while watching Eastenders I got a phone call from my Midwife telling me the results of my blood test had come back and I was high risk for Downs. They had made me an appointment at the hospital for the following morning to discuss it further with a consultant. I was absolutley in bits. It was horrible. We went to the hospital the next day and decided to have an amniocentesis just so we'd know either way. Anyway, they wouldn't do it there and then so I had to go back AGAIN the next day. The amnio was actually fairly painless. They used ultrasound to see where the baby was and then took a really small amount of fluid out. I was told I could either wait 3 weeks for the results or pay £70 to have it tested privately and I'd have the results within 24 hours. Well, we paid the £70 and on Friday morning I had the phone call telling me everything is just fine. Work have asked me to take 2 weeks off (Full pay still!!!) as I work in a prison and they wanted to make sure everything is ok so today it's really sunny and I'm sat in the garden!! Oh, and the amnio confirmed it's a girl!

6th August 2007 - 28 weeks 1 day

I haven't updated on here for ages and ages! Everything is ticking along nicely. We have been trying to sell our house since March but the market is really slow over here and there hasn't been much interest so it looks like we will be staying here. Haven't done anything with babys room yet as we thought we'd be moved. We have all the furniture in boxes so it looks like we'll have to start unpacking and building it.

My dad died on the 24th July so things are pretty horrible at the moment. His funeral is on Wednesday 8th August. The saddest thing is that he won't get to meet his Grandaughter. He loved his 2 Grandsons but was soooo excited about a little girl. The boys are really upset too and have drawn some pictures to put in the coffin with him. Wish me luck for Wednesday because I'm not looking forward to it.

We went for a 4D scan last week which was amazing but she had her foot jammed into her eye socket!!!!! I drank some icy cold water, ate some chocolate AND jumped around the room but she STILL didn't move! We got a couple of looks at her face but not many so we are going back on August 26th. As my brother has diabetes I have to go for my test on Thursday morning. I was Ok with the last 2 so hopefully this one should be ok.

Summer seems to FINALLY be here in England!! Yip-eeee I'm so sick of rain!!!

29th August 2007 - 31 weeks 3 days

My boyfriend proposed last week!!!!! We went to Brighton for the weekend and also spent a few hours at Beachy head which if you haven't been there is just the most amazing place with 500ft white cliffs and the veiws are just spectacular. I've always loved it there. Anyway. When we were up on the highest point he got down on new knee and proposed with the most georgeous diamond solitaire ring!!! I couldn't stop crying but eventually managed to say yes!!! There won't be a wedding before baby but hopefully next year. Don't know whether to go abroad and do it or stay at home and then a fab honeymoon. I'm soooo excited!!!!! Check out the photos!!! He even had a mini bottle of champagne ready!! I had a very small glass!!

10th October 2007 - 37 weeks 3 days

Only 18 days to go. Went to see my midwife this morning. Head is down but not engaged at all. We don't get checked internally here and to be honest I don't feel theres any need for it. She'll come when she's ready! Pregnancy is going great. I'm having no problem sleeping. No swelling and No stretch marks. Infact I think I'll miss my bump when she's out!! I'll try and post some photo's over the weekend of my bump at 38 weeks.
