My name is Donna and I live in Texas. This was an unexpected pregnancy, but it has turned out to be a wonderful surprise.

I found out 12.5.07 from a HPT. And then went to the clinic on 12.6.07 for an official test. All tests were positive and they dated my pregnancy to be 5 weeks. My due date is August 9th so far, but we will see what my doctor says when I go in for an Ultrasound.

There are a lot of things I don't know, and some that I do know. Both my sisters have had 3 kids, and my brother has experienced 2 childbirths with his wife. I am willing to take advice and give as this time goes on. I hope all you soon to be mothers, and women who are trying to conceive have a wonderful holiday season, and I hope everyone keeps safe and happy :)

update: My due date has changed a few times and now I am due 8.8.08, pretty cool, I will have my second OB visit feb 25, i got to hear the babys heart beat feb 1st :) it was so exciting :)

AND I FINALLY FIT INTO MATERNITY PANTS! lol, im not big but none of my old pants will fit!! (week 14)

Week 17- I can now feel the baby kick on an almost regular basis, it doesnt really feel like kicking, but more like tapping. I get an ultra sound to check the baby's gender on Wednesday March 5th :)

March 5th, 2008 we found out our babys gender! (ITS A BOY!!)

Baby 450

Baby 450 Boy

March 5th- Andy (the father) felt the baby kick once, the baby is getting strong enough to be felt out side of me! And it tickles sometimes!!

Week 19 - March 16th- I feel the baby kick on a daily basis. He doesn't seem to like me driving or being in a moving car, he kicks more then. I feel him move around and wiggle as well. I cannot believe that I am almost half way there! :)

Week 20- March 22nd- Someone asked me today when I was due (she was washing my hair before I got my hair cut). This is the first time someone asked with out me telling them! She said she could tell it was BABY and NOT FAT :) I was sooo happy :) I still am. So I finally LOOK pregnant :)

Week 23- April 17, 2008- I started my new job yesterday, people asked when I was due. ^_^ The baby is kicking my ribs now a days, lol, not the best feeling in the world but very interesting. I never thought I would ever have a child, or at least I never imaged myself as a mother, this is a wonderful experience. All except for the back pains, ha ha.

Week 27- May 13, 2008 - Yay!! Third trimester!!!

Week 29- May 26, 2008 - Had to make a trip to the hospital today, left work early. I felt some back pains and I felt like I was having stronger braxton hicks, but apparently I was having actual contractions. The doctors told me to go to the hospital to get checked out after calling them. Apparently I was dehydrated, and they said I needed to eat more frequently. They also gave me a shot to stop the contractions. It stung, and then made me feel shakey, like I just downed 15 espressos. But the baby and I are fine now, which makes me happy. He is still too little to be born... just need a few more months.

Week 30- June 4, 2008 - Almost in week 31 :) Finally and I will be in my new apartment soon :) I just can't wait! It will be bigger, and in a much nicer area than I live in now. I will be closer to a lot of my family, and closer to my job as well. Andy celebrates getting a new job he starts this weekend :) I will be able to see him more often and he will be making some good money for the baby :) We also decided on the name ;) I will post that later.

Week 32 - June 13, 2008 - Well the baby has been trying to do flips inside of me, but is finding it hard to do so now. He pushes and pushes and my belly looks like a roller coaster because of him sometimes! Oh and my ribs hurt! My feet have gotten better though, I am happy about that! I have most of my baby gear set up (bassinet and blankets) so far. I just cant wait!

Week 34 - June 27, 2008 - I am getting so much closer to my due date and it is exciting me! My hips hurt after sleeping, I guess they are moving to accommodate the baby. We also think the baby is dropping. I have been feeling more pressure on my pelvic floor, and some sharp pains occasionally. And Andy says my belly looks a little lower, but not much. So our baby seems to want to meet us just as much as we want to see him! :) I have packed the baby's bag for the hospital, but I have yet to pack my own, lol...I know what I need, I am just being lazy about it. I will have to pack it soon or I will end up doing it the night the baby arrives!

Week 34 - July 1, 2008 - On bed rest, went to the hosp. for having contractions. They were somewhere around 5 min apart at the most , lasting 1 min each. I called my doc and he said it was too soon, and he wants to stop the contractions, and to go into the hosp. so they did that, and I am still in the hosp (July 3rd) they gave me an oral med last night and since that worked, i might be going home today! The doc wants to wait until the preferred week 37.

Week 35 - July 8, 2008 - Technically I am ONE month away from my "due date" but everyone knows I am going to have the baby soon. I went to the doctor today for my weekly check up and I am now 75% effaced, and 1 cm dilated (last week I was 30% effaced and 1 cm dilated) so I am progressing. The baby feels like he is pushing down constantly. I predict I will go into labor full time in about a week. That actually puts him close to when I thought he would be due, rather than when the doc or my friends say (it just shows how well you know your body, and your baby). I just hope we make it to week 37 or very close to it so my baby wont be in NICU. I am still on bed rest and meds for now.

Week 36 - July 15, 2008 - Starting to have contractions today AGAIN. They stay far apart, and get closer, and they slowed down it seems or at least they are LESS intense. They dont HURT though. But we do have a doctor appt today. We will see what he says in a few hours about how I am doing, dilating, effacing and such. I think I have less than a week until I see my baby boy (maybe even less than a day if these contractions pick up). And at this point, only 2 days away from being in week 37, there is no use STOPPING them. He will be considered full term... And I don't agree with all the medicine being pumped into me that much, esp if he has tried to come out so often! He obviously WANTS to be born! Poor guy just wants to meet his Daddy and Mommy :) My mother told me to go for a walk to get the contractions started, I might do that after my doc appt. My little kicker keeps pushing up on my lungs like he is trying to push DOWN *ouch*

I just took the shot. They gave me a prescription of the pills to fill, but I didn't. The shot made me feel like I was gonna shake myself off of the hospital bad and my heart was going to jump out of my chest! I came home and looked some stuff up and decided that I would only get them filled if I had intolerable contractions. Then I was looking at our pregnancy week and someone had posted a website that was all about this law firm that specializes in terbutaline law suits. Apparently it can cause all sorts of defects so it scared the crap out of me! If you google terbutaline and lawfirm it should come up. I'm a scared mess about everything, so this was just too much for me. But, you are right, your little man definitely needed some more cooking time! I'm sure he'll be perfect and thankful that you let him snuggle a little longer!

i just read your comment in week 35 about the meds to stop contractions and heartburn. I noticed that too. I was on Procardia and it made my acid reflux 100 times worse. I'm due the same day as you and went in Wednesday night around 11:30...and went back again Thursday. The meds they gave me still aren't stopping the contractions but they said not to come bak in until they are painful.

I love your page colors by the way! What kind of medication are they giving yo9u to stop the contractions? I only ask bc the hospital gave me a shot of terbutaline to stop mine a few weeks ago ( which sounds like what they gave you a shot of) and then a prescriptionof the pill form to take every few hours. I did some research on the stuff and it is terrible. They have other options, but for some reason they keep prescribing this stuff. You should really look into it, bc reading what it can do terrified me. I know it is still a bit early to have our babies, but they have other stuff they can prescribe. I hope everything in your pregnancy is going great!!! They'll be here soon!!

It is so hard, I was the same way...I just wanted to see his face and give him a bath!! that was all I kept talking about was giving him a bath. I had Tony when I was supposedly 38 weeks, but when he came out, my doctor was totally unconvinced that he was a 38 week baby. He is thinking at most, 37 weeks, most likely 36 or so. The only thing that doesn't make too much sense is that he weighed 7 lbs 3 oz, so that part was confusing...if he was that early, thank goodness he came when he did. It was rough enough getting him out at that size!! Imagine at 40 weeks!! My doctor said the same about not stopping what happens after 37 weeks, it is really the "safe point" after that..it has to be stressful for the docs too, not being able to do a whole lot for us. I know I felt bad for my doctor, I totally mystified the poor guy. :D Just know that the time will come...sooner than later I imagine!!

I saw your post about being on bed rest, so I thought I would let you know I know how lame it is! I went into labor wk 32 and dialated to 1 cm....I was in the childbirth center more than 11 times in the next 6 weeks! They ended up giving me Tributelen a few times and I took Nefedepine (sp??) every 4 hours for two weeks. It was a long process and through the entire time I was on bed rest and literally had to lie in bed all day, I could only get up to go to the bathroom. Through the whole process I kept thinking to myself, why can't we just have the baby...they say he is big...But I did end up being scheduled to be induced wk 39 and guess what? Five days before my scheduled induction, I went into labor on my own! When he was born (37 wks) he was covered in vernix and had to get oxygen. It was so scary, I realized that it was a good thing the doctor I go to put so mych energy into keeping him in. Just try to hang in there, and I know everyone tells you to get sleep while you can and you probably feel like you can not possibly sleep anymore than you already are, but seriously, when that baby is a few weeks old, those words will haunt you!! Hang in there and cherish the movement of your baby and the belly you have grown, you will miss it. I promise.

I feel your pain about being on bed rest. Being pregnant goes slow enough without not being able to do anything. Im sorry I dont really have any suggestions except internet and doing lots of reading thats pretty much all i do. just remember, you're not alone!
good luck with everything

Awww thanks for the reply. This will be my 2nd child. I know what your saying about my MIL being like my family, I know she is it just stinks sometimes. I too have 2 older sisters who have 3 and 4 kids each. So i know what its like. My Mom is just a trouble maker so its hard. But good luck and thanks again!

yah that's what i thought too i have a appt next thursday, and i am goign to ask for something to soften my cervix, cause i can't deal with the pain anymore.

beckaboo - Sunday, 29 June
yeah, I have been taking the pill every 4 hrs since Tuesday. I'm sure things will be fine, but it still concerns me because the drug FDA approved for dr's to use AT ALL for pre-term labor (with good reason)

Thank you all so much for your messages it turns out after all that it's blooming Thrush..... it's a good job I'm not a worrier I mean if this had been my first pregnancy I would have been really worried. So after having to take time off from work and trail up tothe hospital and collect the thing I did complain about the delay, but the answer I got was thats the NHS for you.... How reassuring!!!! NOT!!

pugdunn - Friday, 27 June
Yes, he is moving all over my belly ... well you know what I mean. I'm doing good, just looking forward to August I'm sure you are too.

pugdunn - Friday, 27 June
I hope all is well ... how are you doing?

arcanejane - Thursday, 26 June
Well, try to be sweet to your man, especially if he's actually sticking with you. (True, you do have looks on your side-- you are really beautiful). I'm not trying to be mean, but there are a lot of women who wish they had men around! You are lucky! You have the right to be crabby though, our hormones are all over the place. Just remember to be sweet as pie to your bf after the baby comes.

Yuck!!! Not fun when it rains and its hot. I guess california is going to burn down... we need rain here soooo bad... we have really bad fires going on up north... I live about 2 hours from L.A. so I am more southern... but we still have really smokey skies and it really mucky even though the fires are about 300 miles away..,. its like having a blanket over our sky. They say you can see the fires from space kinda crazy. Your doc is giving you crap about your weight???? Your look perfect in your pics not to big at all. Dont let it get to you... boy your doc would have a field day with me LOL!

pageantmommie - Thursday, 26 June
LOL I was just checkin... it really was much cool and calmer. My kids are out of school and they are older so they thought it was cool . I was just going crazy sitting in this house because it is just to freakin hot to go out during the day. Here in California its been a 100 plus during the day. So I feel your pain too. Does it get really humid in texas on top of the high temps? Thank goodness for air conditioner.

BTW that stupid mylie cyrus song is ALWAYS stuck in my head *L*

I can't remember exactly what it is but there is a forum here about it. Its Symphyis pelivs disorder I think.....basically, my pelvic bones are spreading, too early (started at around 16 weeks) and are too soft now so it causes me a lot of pain...more so then just the regular speading causes. :-)

ColeK - Saturday, 21 June
Ohh- we have the same due date! I took the marathon class at the beginning of the month. I really hope that yours is better than mine was! Mine was horrible!! It was a power point presentation that the lady read word for word and then shared her MANY prenancy stories when she was pregnant (about 30 years ago!!). After every section she said, "your doctor and nurses will tell you this when it's happening..." :o Well, why did just pay 100 bucks then!?!? They could've handed the book out at the doc. office and been done with it. The breathing part was sort of helpful. But again, she said that the nurses will reveiw breathing techniquies as you're going through the labor. I was very dissappointed; I was really looking forward to the day and turns out my husband and I dropped out a bit early! I hope your class is better than ours!! Good luck to you!

I know...when I called my insurance to make sure it was covered...and then found out it wasn't I was shocked! Oh well. Allen and I do want to have it done so we're going to pay the bill "in advance" to make sure we're all set! LOL Darn insurance companies!!

Yeah we are getting it done too. Both of my other boys have it done. I have to go to the Dr.s office to pay for it ($150) as they will not do it in the hospital after baby is born without a receipt that I paid for it in full and in advance! Craziness! I will say it is scary after it's done though...I opted to not be in the room while they did it (I'm so glad) I could hear Tyler screaming in the hall when he had his done...and I was so scared to change his diaper for the first few days as he screamed EVERY time because of the pain. I think that's the thing I'm most nervous about this time around! Taking care of my poor dudes "manhood" after the surgery!!

reneemt78 - Thursday, 19 June
Yeah they said that the procedure is not "medically necessary" and they stopped covering this procedure in 2004!

tiredmommy - Friday, 13 June
I have a husband that will take off of work for the slightest sickness - or if he's just plain tired. He's responsible about it...always calls in early enough, makes sure he has personal or vacation time for it, etc. However, he does usually feel better after a few hours and then has just wasted a day. IT DRIVES ME NUTS! This year especially b/c I don't want him wasting all of his time off now, when I'm going to need him to have that time off some after the baby is born! I believe men are suppose to be the supporters and work hard for it. Stand your ground with him, and for me if helps to talk to him later in the day once he "feels better" or is more awake. He's more understanding and responsive then.

izziebo - Thursday, 12 June
