I just read your post about the episiotomy, and liquid vitamin E is a great way to speed the healing. Jaimeson vitamins makes a liquid form that you can find at your drug store either in the skin care or first aid section. If you don't find that, vit E capsules will work the same way, you'll just have to pierce one and squeeze out the oil inside. Hope this helps.

It sounds like you have a very strange doc. If there are no serious complications your doc should let the baby come when he/she is ready; not at a time that suits your doctors schedule. Nature knows best. You know best.

Thank you guys for all your advice! It helped alot! Actually whats crazy is that my doctor is one of the few in my area that actually doesnt have a bad rep, lol thats why i chose him...but after seeing everyones response to him wanting to induce me..now im not so sure about him....Although, my baby has been measuring small the past 4 months...i was 5lb. 11oz when i was born and my man was 9lb 11oz when he was born i do believe...he's a big man! buttt the dr says he may just be a small baby, but that they have to keep a close watch to make sure he's getting the right nutrients. He says, the reason he may be so small could have something to do with the blood flow in the placenta...see im totally clueless to all of this, this is my first baby and me, nor my man really know what to expect so i really didnt think anything out of the ordinary when he said he wanted to induce me. I go to see him at 1 today (2/18) so i guess we'll see how he reacts to finding out that i called to cancel the amnio...

Unless there is a complication I don't understand why your doctor would want to induce you (does he have a vacation booked around your actual due date or something???!). I would look for a second opinion for sure.

omg your doctor is crazy. i know your almost done, but id quit seeing him ASAP. find another, seriously, he sounds like the type to get you in and then go 'oops you need a c section'...bad bad news! good for you for standing up for yourself, dont give in, only you know whats best for your baby. good luck!

Girl, you did the right thing! It sounds like your doctor is crazy!! For him to say your baby doesn't benefit from being in the womb after 38 weeks! I've never heard of such! I'm sure you know, as does your doctor, that the baby secretes hormones when it's ready to be born and that's what gets labor started! Anyway, I'll say a prayer for you and I hope your doctor comes to his senses tomorrow. Stay strong for what you think is best for you and your baby and don't let him tell you what to do!

I would wait it out, I don't understand why your doctor would want to induce you so early sounds crazy to me. Good luck and take care.

I think your baby is a little small...but you may just grow small babies...mine weighed 5 pounds and 4 ounces at 32 weeks...THE point is I'm proud that your standing up to your dr and he just wants to induce you for his convience...I would refuse the amnio and the induction...tell him that a baby releases a hormone when he's lungs are developed which in turn causes labor...SOOOO you rather be on the safe side and wait until he's ready to be born rather than forcing him to come out...your dr sounds like a looney! Sorry but he's crazy...the longer he's in your tummy ( before 42 weeks ) the better! So I think your doing a great job and I would wait it out!! Good Luck and let me know how it goes ok???

You know, some time ago I read about other lady whose doctor wanted to do amnio before inducing. I was surprised at this and did research. And actually there is a practice to do amnio to see if lungs are mature enough. It is different from amnio they do at 16 weeks. This is done after 37 weeks. Because the baby may be 38 weeks and big, but still his lung is not mature enough. But I disagree that at certain point baby does not benefit from mother any longer. If it is so, why we have 40 weeks, not 38 weeks pregnancy? Just for fun? I know that it is not good to go past your due date for more than a week, because placenta starts to age. But unless they detected early aging of placenta or some complications that they afraid will progress, there is absolutely no point in inducing this early. I woudl request second opinion on this. You are so far along, why risk?

That is so weird. Why would he want to induce? He sounds like a hack to me. You have your head on strait girl. Don't listen to him. On top of that your baby only weighs 5lbs? Stick to your guns. Let that babe come when he/she is darn well ready!!

kathrynb10 - Monday, 18 Feb
Wow - Your doctor sounds like he is jumping the gun a little. I can't believe he wants to do amnio this close to the end just so he can induce. Why doesn't he just let nature do its thing? You are right for questioning him. If you are this close, why not wait? Induction doesn't seem necessary. Just my 2 cents.

I am 37 weeks and 2 days. I am dilated 3 cm and 50% efffaced. I've felt the same way all weekend. And my little guy has been doing the whole like rolling thing where it feels like a hard thump! OUCH. Not a very pleasant feeling. I go to the dr. tomorrow and I'm hoping they schedule my c-section before he decides to arrive on his own? I told my dr. about all the pains lsat week and he said they are very normal and as long as you are feeling your baby move then things are well and its just our bodies preparing! Not the news I wanted to hear, but grateful my little Logan is safe! Hope you get relief soon...Take care and congratulations!

i've definately heard sex can bring on labor...sperm supposovely helps soften the uterus...again, what i've heard. i'd call ur doc asap, just to be safe.

To help speed up the process try raspberry leaf:

and walk, walk, walk. The more you get around, the more the baby drops and your cervix starts to dilate.
