Hi there all the beautiful pregnant women and mom's out there. This is my first message on my page as I just signed up last night. I am very excited to be pregnant and will have my first appointment and ultra sound Jan 31/08. I will be exactly three months by then. I would love to hear from you if you are around the same time as me or even if you are farther along so I can get the scoop on what to expect later. Thursday, 6 Mar (18 wks) Sooooo excited......had my first ultrasound done yesterday, finally. It feels like I`ve been waiting for this day forever. Anyways it was great to see baby for the first time...he/she was so active and moving around. The tech couldn`t tell if it was a boy or girl...Boo. I was really hoping to find out. Hopefully I don`t have to wait too much longer. I go for my monthly check-up tomorrow with my doctor and he will go through all the pictures of the ultrasound and explain everything to me...here`s to hoping he can tell me. Okay ladies, until next time!! Tuesday, 11 Mar (19 wks) Had to have another ultrasound done as the first one showed my cervix as being short. My doctor wanted to be cautious and sent me to the women's centre where they test for and treat any complications when your pregnant. The technician and doctor both said I looked pretty good as the cervix can change from one time to another. I'm scheduled for another ultrasound at the end of the month so they can make sure it's ok one last time. It's really nice b/c I get to see my baby more than I thought I would. He/she was still pretty active and once again we couldn't make out the sex...fingers crossed for the next scan!!! I'm also excited b/c my due date has changed to Aug 1/08 now so 5 days earlier than thought. I will be starting my 20 wk in 1 day instead of being in my 19 wk (yeah). Friday, 28 Mar (21 wks) Had another ultrasound scan today....I'm very frustrated. I had like 3 technicians in the room and they still couldn't tell me the sex of the baby...I mean where did you all go to school. I don't mean to sound bitchy or anything it's just I hate when I have my heart set on something and it doesn't happen. They all said it was a 65-75 % chance of being a girl but no quite sure. Anyways enough with the venting...They were all very nice and I got to see the baby again. Soooo cute, had it's legs crossed for a couple seconds and was opening and closing it's mouth. He/She has definetly gotten bigger since the last appointment. My cervix was measuring a little over 3cm (thank you god) which is alot better than before. They scheduled another scan for next month 15 April so I have my fingers crossed. If not I'll have to wait till mid May...Booo Tuesday, 15 Apr (24 wks) Finally found out today that ....................................................................................... Saturday, 3 May (26 wks) Today I had my blood taken for GDS (Gestational Diabetes Screening) and also to count my red blood cells. I was not looking forward to this but I had no choice as I hate needles and do not enjoy giving blood. Surprisingly though that orange drink they give you was not as bad as I thought it would be. Just gluped it down and thankfully my husband came with me an kept me company as I would have been bored outta my mind waiting for a whole hour to pass. Just praying now to god that everything goes good and my results come back with nothing to worry about. I have another ultrasound coming up in a few days so I'm looking forward to seeing my little girl again. Other than that all is great and will update again in a litte while. Wednesday, 7 May (27 wks) Say baby Aaliyah today. She was lying on her back facing me and head down....so cute. The technician said she now weighs 2 lbs 3 oz and is look healthy. I got her to double check to make sure it's a girl as well and she said it looked like it's a hot dog (LOL) so it's all girl. My cervix is good as well (now over 3 cm) so shouldn't be worried about it. I checked with my doctor as well to make sure I can go for daily walks which is ok I just can't be running or jogging. I couldn't even walk fast if I wanted to much less to run, I feel I have so much more weight on me than I'm used to. Anything for my baby girl though and I know in the end it'll all be worth it. Saturday, 17 May (28 Wks) I had a really great day today. My husband and I had our 3D ultrasound this afternoon (was booked 4 months ago). It was so nice to finally see our baby girl so clear and she was so happy and chubby. I could see she has my nose and chubby cheeks and her dad's chin. She was smiling and sucking her thumb and just snuggling up on the placenta. We got like 93 pictures as well as 20 minutes of her on DVD moving around (well worth the $$$). It just felt so real to see what she will look like when she gets here.......I can't wait. Overall it was a great experience and we will definetly be doing it again for our next baby. Also that same evening I had MY BABY SHOWER!!!!!! The day finally came. Soooo much fun. I had all my close friends/family members there and even people I thought couldn't make it did. My sister and sister in law did a great job with the food/games/decorations. Baby Aaliyah got so much goodies it was great. Now I have her room all finished with the decor and bedding as well as all the clothes hung and folded in the drawer. We also finished putting together all her things (bassinet, high chair, rocker/seat). So it was just a great day and on top of that it was a long weekend so I got monday off and just picked up a few more things for her and spent time with my husband. Thursday, 05 June (31 wks) Not much to update but just wanted to say something as it's been while. I've started my 2 week appointments a month with my doctor which is alright . It lasts for like 5-10 minutes and he just checks the position of the baby and listens to the heartbeat. Then he'll ask me if I have any questions or concerns (which I normally don't) as everything has been going great. Only problem I can think of is my pelvic/pubic bones ache a bit cause of the extra weight but I'm not complaining. I had my last ultrasound today.....boo, I'm sad. Since I'm now over 30 wks they don't need to moniter my cervix anymore as the baby is big enough and would survive if I have her early (fingers crossed this won't happen). It was great to see her again....she was in the same position as always, head down and face up with her legs crossed. The techician says she now weighs 4lbs even so I'm guessing she will be average size when born (about 7-7 1/2 lbs ). Thursday, 10 July (36 wks) It's been a while since I've updated my status on here. Quite a bit has happened since the last entry as I'm officially off from work and at home now (all of July). I worked up till the last week in June. I've been going to the hospital each Wednesday for the past month now as my OB wants to do weekly ultrasounds on the baby. He noticed I was measuring small on my 32 wk checkup so with these weekly visits he can monitor the baby to make sure she is growing good. Everthing has checked out good and the baby has been doing great so he mentioned to me that he probably only will do one more (next wk) and that should be good as long as the baby is measuring good. I have my 36 wk check up tomorrow and the doc will check my cervix and do a swab for strep B so not really looking forward to it but I know he has to do it. I've been going for daily walks and just trying to keep myself busy while at home. Car seat is in the jeep, all her clothes are washed and my hospital bag is packed with my stuff and her's as well. My husband and I went for our first maternity photoshoot this week.........soooo much fun. We got some really beautiful and artistic shots so can't wait to put them up. We went to the same studio that did our engagement and wedding photos so it was great to continue the relationship. When the baby comes we'll go back and do the family photo session as well so can't wait. I guess it `s about time I update my page. I haven`t had anything exciting happen up till yesterday. I had my first visit with my OBGYN and my husband and I got to listen to the baby `s heartbeat and the doctor said he/she was also kicking as we could hear thudding sounds!!! Soooo awesome. I could have listened to the heartbeat all day. It is such a relief to confirm that I actually have a living baby in my belly. Our first ultrasound is next month early March so hopefully we`ll find out what we`re having.
We couldn't be more happier. My husband was hoping for a boy but he is still excited it's a girl. Maybe the next one will be a boy. Other than this exciting news all is great. Next month will be a busy one with all my appointments (blood tests, shots, check-up, ultrasound) and also my baby shower. So until next month ladies.....17 wks
