My Labour Story...

4 Years ago, I was due to have a baby on the 20th April 2003. My pregnancy was very sore, I had a sore back the whole way threw as the baby was lieing on a nerve, but I managed to go to work everyday, and stand at a till from 9am till 6pm Mon to Fri. I had severe heartburn from early stages in the pregnancy, and Craved Mint-Humbugs like they were going out of fashion lol... Me and my partner Adrian at the time was living with my mum.

On the 19th April 2003 at around 3am I kept waking up thinking i had to pee! only nothing would come out! I had no clue what was happening, Adrian was sleeping, and my mum was working as she done night shifts in a Nursing Home. As i walked around the house, back and forth to bed i eventually woke Adrian!!! I asked him if he thought I was in labour! LOL im sure he thought I was crazy or something!!! He was getting nervous, and annoyed with my moaning, so he kept on at me to call the hospital. I called them about 4am. They told me to get an ambulance in as we didnt have a lift! I got into the hospital around 5ish in the morning i think it was. The mid-wife done an internal on me, and said i was 3cms. I was so excited, i just kept thinking this is great! Baby will be here any min lol...

At 6.30am the mid-wife told Adrian there wasnt much point in him hanging around as there wouldnt be anything happening for a long time yet... I remember feeling so sad and lonely. I just wanted him with me, I was never so scared. The mid-wife took me into a ward where there was mothers and baby's and i didnt have mine... I was hoping that i wouldnt have to hang around too long without my baby in my arms. After 7.30am my mum came over from work. she stayed a little while, but then it was time for her to go home too. So again, i was left on my own, hearing all these crying babies around me, i just wanted to cry!!!

The Mid-wife put a Tens Machine around me as I was in so much pain. I tryed to sleep, but couldnt. So i was advised to just walk around as much as i could. mum and Adrian was back and forth. And so we went into the next day.

On the 21st April 2003 at 6am the mid-wife came into me, told me to take a warm bath, and she would be back to see how much progress I was making. at 6.45am i had another internal done. I'll never forget what she said to me... "Oh Eileen, You're doing good things" lol.. I was 5 cms!! YAY half way there! she told me we was going up to the labour ward, and asked did I want to call Adrian and my mum... OF COURSE I DID!!! with being 5cms at 6.45am, I figured i would have baby by lunch time! :) Adrian came rushing up by 8am. His friends at work had told him how awful it was to see their partners in so much pain, and he was really dreading this day... but there I was sitting up in the chair, watching TV (all in the labour ward i might add) sucking on Gas N Air, and laughing my head off!!! He thought this is sooo easy!!!.. HAHA... well at 12.30pm, my Waters still hadnt broke. :( the doctor came in to see me, and I she said she better break them to get some movement!.. I lay on the bed with my gas as she broke them, and i laughed like there was no tomorrow! I thought it was the funniest feeling ever!!!

HA.. Well not 2 hours later i was going around the bend... rolling all around the labour room, shouting at everyone and anything! Anything the mid-wifes done for me wasnt good enough!! my mum, aunt, and a friend of the family was all waiting outside the room, they could hear everything LOL! but noone would come in!! The pain was awful, i just kept wanting to go to the loo, and they handed me cardboard basins!!!!! WHAT?!?! I was RAGEING!!! All the pain was on my bum as it was a "OP" labour i have recently been told. meaning the baby was trying to come out of my backpassage making it EXTRA sore on me!!!

Adrian couldnt take no more! - he buggered of to the "husbands" room and watched snooker! lol.. One of the mid-wifes had to go to get something, leaving only one with me, and just as shes on her own, I get a sudden urge to PUSHHHHHH... the mid-wife sounded the alarm for the other mid-wife to come ASAP. And of course Adrian, mum and the full works heard this!... they all had panic attacks thinking something was wrong. (God love them) lol...

At 4.40pm I pushed out a beautiful baby boy!!! I dont remeber the pushing out part much to be honest. I dont even remember him being born!! I was sleeping in the middle of Contractions cos i was sooo tired from being awake for 3 days and 3 nights! I got one massive stich from back to frount, and woke up when it was all over! :) I never felt the stiches been done! they said it was a 1st for them having someone sleep threw all that! LOL ... I think I woke up about 7pm. I lifted my head to see where the baby was, not even knowing what I had.. I asked in such a faint voice, "what is it?" they said a boy! I was so tired, I said "is he ok?" they said "Yip hes brill" I fell back to sleep straight after it and woke up downstairs with all my family and baby boy around me!!! It took me 4 years to get over it... and here i am again ready to do the whole thing again!!... I must be mad! but i think this one will be easier! :)

5th March 2007 Had another scan today, first scan was a tummy scan, and the doctor could see the baby very well, and then asked if i would like an internal scan to see the babies heartbeat. OMG it was so lovely, and music to my ears when he told me im carrying a very healty baby that is doing very well!!! not to mention when he told me it was only one!!!! :) PHEW! I got a little picture of the scan for the first time, out of 3 scans! And the doctor has me booked into Antrim hospital for the delivery! Have to go back to hospital on FRIDAY 13th April 2007 for my 12 week scan!! what a day?!?!? Still feeling very tired, nausea, and pains are still happening, but there is no reason why... So if i just take my time getting up, and rest when I can it will keep the pains away!

27th March 2007 What a weekend. Moved house on Thursday night, started a little bleed on Friday night. Due to stress etc etc. so Went to the hospital yesterday and had a scan, baby is fine thank God.turns out i was threating a misscarriage. ive been warned to rest loads. and thats what i will try and do!!!

12 week scan...

28th May 2007 Well as I havent been on in a long time due to no internet connection, I shall have to tell you all the latest! No more bleeding thank God. Am happy and content in our new home, living with mum, my partner, and son Jack... Real nice and cosy lol... I am 19 weeks today, my dates was changed from the 23rd to the 22nd! Still have nausea in the morning, would rather lay in bed, and very tired still, but im coping. I have no heartburn, no pain, apart from dizzyness, have taken 2 light heads when i feel like im going to die, but i guess its just the joys lol... Have started to feel the baby moving about, no kicking as such, just flutters i think. I have my next scan on the 14th June, and I will be asking the sex of the baby! :)

Pregnant @ 20 + 3 Weeks

14th June 2007 Had my 20 week scan today.. Well im 21 weeks, but that doesnt even matter... the good news is... ITS A GIRL!!!! Cant believe it at all... its like ive been blessed with the cuttest son, and now a beautiful baby girl to join the family... A real Gentlemans Family as they say lol... I'm feeling FAB! can not wait till Oct...

22 Weeks + 4 Days Pregnant

28th June 2007 - Well I had to go to the doctors on Monday to get bloods took, urine, and the usual check-ups's. the Doc was ment to call me back on Tuesday with the results. I told her I am very tired and she gave me Iron tablets and told me to take one, and then stop till I get the results from the blood. Today is Thursday and I still had not heard from them. So I called about 20 mins ago. Receptionist said blood is satsiftory. So i was sitting wondering how i am so tired and 10 mins later, the phone rings again. It was the Doctor Surgery, saying my bloods have just come in, and i need to take my Iron tablets from today as my Iron is low.... sometimes i wonder what they be doing in these Surgerys'... they havent a clue really!!! - Im not feeling too bad.. Apart from tireness... Baby is moving around more each day and getting stronger. I noticed my tummy move last week! was cool, but of course everyone missed it cos it was soooo quick!!! Then when im watching for her kicks, and tell Adrian to watch, she stops!!! lol... stubborn like her Mammy! :)

14th July 2007 - Well, Mums to be always get cravings for something.. Mine is POKER! LOL Im addicted to playing it!! Hence the fact i havent been on here much is cos of that!... Well on Tuesday the 10th July, I had an appointment with my Mid-wife. I got my urine checked, which has protine and thinks im starting a Kidney Infection, but i dont feel it, so i guess thats good! :) Blood Pressure was normal, and baby's heartbeat was a flying 160!!! she said thats deff a girl lol... Felt good to hear it again, I go back to her in another 4 weeks, and back to hospital again when i am 33 weeks, Im 25 weeks now, time is ticking in well. gonna start getting pram an all sorted out soon. Had a wedding to go to on Saturday, It was a good day, but i was abit fed up cos i couldnt drink!! Oh and guess what else crept up on me lately.. FLIPPEN HEARTBURN!!! cant drink Ribena, or Capri Soone, and they are my FAVE drinks!!!! Well fave outta the ones that are good for me lol... Coke and Luco dont do me any harm, but i know i shouldnt drink them so much!!! Anyway, I must run cos im stil playing poker lol.. God bless all you mums - mums to be - and bub's of course :)

19th August 2007 - Well I thought I better add a little update cos ive deserted the site lately lol... Things are going great tho, and baby seems to have got really big!! She loves to kick the life outta my ribs and shes putting lots of pressure on me down below!! - Aww the joys lol.. Jacks really getting excited and asking when shes coming lol... Me and Adrian are just getting scared lol... I'm not leaving the bathroom these days, and night time is a drag cos i cant roll about the bed as good lol.. i just shuffle about ... We're getting the net disconnected this week so will be on less, but back now and again threw dad in laws PC!

My Labour Story!!

Sorry its taken me so long to get to this but ive been flat out with 2 kids as im sure you mums will know is hard work!!!

On Thursday 18th Oct 07 i had a app at hospital with Midwife and asked for a Membrane Sweep and got it!!!

Anyway, on the 19th October 2007 I woke up with pains at 3.30am but managed to sleep threw them till 5am I then woke my mum at 6am and told her i thought i was in labour I just let my BF sleep cos i knew he had work and thought he would be able to go on as a normal day lol... At 8.45 Adrian took Jack to school and i waited at home till he came home I called my doc and told him i needed to see a Midwife as i thought i was in labour and didnt want to go all the way to Antrim unless i knew i really was. When i told him about my sweep he said im likely in labour and get into an ambulance straight away. I waited till Adrian got home at 9.30 and then called 999 Straight away they came and i arrived in Antrim hospital at 10.15am. I was 4cms.

Really sucking hard at the gas n air i was high as a kite and begging for the epurdial. at 12.30pm i was 6cms and at 12.45pm was about to get the needed in my back when i got a urge to push?!??! so the Midwife asked the preditition to leave as it was too late and 15 mins later baby Sarah Elizabeth was born weighing in at 6lbs 9oz!! and 50cms with her head measuring at 35.5cms,. She just slipped out!

After the birth my womb wouldnt contract so i had to get the after birth pulled out and was on a drip. Was loosing alot of blood and wasnt able to see to the baby properly till the next day but made a quick recovery and got out of antrim the next day (Saturday) Ide have to say it was the best labour il ever have. Hasnt put me off wanting anymore like my first labour did lol... but its safe to say, im not having anymore anyway lol..
