Hello Everyone! My name is Emily and I gave birth to my first child, Evelyn Grace via c-section on March 23rd, 2008 at 9:20 p.m. She weighed 9 lbs 2 oz. and was 20.8 inches long! She has already gained 2 lbs! I love being a mommy! I own my own stationary business and I am in the process of having a childrens book published! My husband is an Associate Pastor and I am a Worship Leader. I love to sing, read and play the piano. And I love the Lord with all of my heart! If you want to know more, just ask! 8^)
A little love history...
I met my husband, Ben, ten years ago. I was twelve and he was thirteen. We moved to new town because my dad was a Pastor, and so he was starting at a new church. Ben's step-dad just so happened to be the Associate Pastor at the church. My first day of school at my new school, Ben was in my homeroom and he came up and introduced himself to me. I didn't really know who he was, but I thought he was kind of cute, he was almost 6 ft tall in 7th grade! And he had a bull cut (so 1998), and he had a broken arm, which I found out later was from wrestling.
I found out later that Ben, of course, had a girlfriend, and so that was that. For the next 3 years we were friends in youth group, and there definitely seemed to be a connection, but Ben had a lot of girlfriends, never dated anyone for more than two weeks, and I have never had a serious boyfriend. We were still really young, and I had really high standards, and I just didn't know if Ben could meet those. Of course, there were other crushes along the way, but I always seemed to be drawn to Ben.
So, the first time I let my guard down with Ben, he broke my heart. We were at a youth event and I had sat for hours listening th his life story, all of the struggles he had been through, and then, an hour later, he was off with another girl, lol. And so, at 15, I swore I was done. I wouldn't ever be vulnerable to him again. We continued to be friends, but I didn't think that Ben was ready for a serious girlfriend. But, about six months later, on Valnetines Day, I received one dozen carnations at school from Ben, each with an indiviual message. The last one said, "Be Mine". I didn't know how to respond, I thought maybe he just joking around, or sending them as a friend. So, I just went on with my day.
About a week later, Ben sent me a letter, and it read...
"I tried to show it by impressing you, I tried to show it by sending flowers too, but it seems I haven't been clear. I want you to be my girlfriend."
Pretty cheesy, but it was sweet. And so, at the very young age of 16 we started dating. Ben had never had a relationship last more than two weeks, and I was afraid that I would get hurt. I set high standards from the beginning with him about purity and my expectations for him to live his life for God. Two months into our relationship Ben's family moved to a new church, about 2 hours away, and our relationship was tested. But Ben told that was when he knew that someday I would be his wife. We dated for almost 2 years and had a lot of struggles with his family. They were not accepting of our relationship. In December of 2002, I ended the relationship, because I felt that we had both lost treack of our relationships with God, and the problems with his family were just getting worse.
That lasted for 9 months. Ben was persistent, he never gave up, wrote me letters weekly telling me that he still loved me. And, in September of 2003, while I was in Nashville, Tennessee my freshman year of college, after I was sure that it was the right decision, we got back together. Ben visited me a couple of times, and at the end of the semester, I decided to go home and go to a community college to be closer to Ben. To my surpise, on Decmeber 24th, 2003, Ben proposed. He said he had lost me once, and didn't want it to happen again. I said yes! And we started planning our Wedding. We got married a year and a half later, on May 7th, 2005. And now, here we are almost three years later, having our first child. It has been a beautiful journey, and I know it will just get better!
