*****UPDATE - as of 09/22/09 -

Our son was born on aug 21! Ethan Santiago S.

WE went with a totally different name than we 1st had chosen.

He was born with down syndrome, as suspected. But that hasnt changed a thing in our way of loving him.

We feel blessed to have each one of our children, each child brings new joys and different characterisicts to our loving family.

I admit that I as scared for a short period of time, but I opened my heart to God, leaving all outcomes in His hands. I fear no more.

Though we lived a very happy life before Ethan, something was missing in our lives.

Ethan was the missing glue to our family. He has brought us together in such a beautiful way.

My faith, love, compassion, patiance has grown since his arrival.

IT is true, God only gives you what you can handle. And God knew what a perfect match he would be for our family. And of course He wasnt wrong.

I am proud to call myself his mommy, I am proud to call him Son.

My name is Erika, mommy to 2 little girls, Gabby (8) and Andrea (4). Who are completely different from one another... I am married to a man that I was set up with on a blind date with 6 yrs ago. I was the tender (hehehehe) age of 21 and he was 28. It was love at 1st sight for him, while I thought he seemed fun for the weekend! LOL... but here we are now, truly deeply in love. It's been a long though road, with many ups and downs, but with a happy ending so far! He's been a great father to my daughter Gabby, and just overall a great dad and an amazing husband.

In my mind I felt like I was done after 2 children, but in my heart I knew I wasnt. Daddy always wanted more kids so after much debating here we are pregnant!

We, as an entire family, are very thrilled to be expecting this child. With just one hope, to have a healthy little baby. Be it a boy or girl.

Friday, March 27 2009 - We found out we are expecting a baby
BOY
!

***************************************

Names: (updated 03/30/09)
Had the baby been a girl, her name would have been Lilly...

But we are having a boy!
Daddy always said that if we had a boy, he would be named after him - Santiago
-We were going to to with my Brother's name (Arturo) as his middle name, but I am not sure how my family would react to that (my brother was murdered a few yrs back).

So we are thinking of Sammy Santiago, OR Santiago Sammy

Sammy is my husband's nickname, not his actual name, but people have a hard time pronouncing his name that they call him Sammy. So I said, why not just throw Sammy in there officially. And daddy has agreed, but we just havent decided if it should be his 1st name or middle name.

Ok ladies so I need help! Xavier turned 9 months old om the 18th and up until now we've been co-sleeping. Now that he's become a pro at flipping over and actually crawled (yes crawled!!) yesterday, the time has come for him to start sleeping in his crib. The problem is, I'm very apprehensive about this and am unsure as to how to switch him over to sleeping by himself. Do any of you ladies have any advice as to how to make this transition as smooth as possible?? Its amazing how fast he's growing! I know this change may not be easy but I'm also excited about the new changes. Any advice will be appreciated. I hope all of you ladies are doing well! God bless and I hope you ladies can help. Love ya, xoxo.

Erika - I went for the ultrasound and they said the echogenic bowel is not there and there was still a tiny white spot on her heart but nothing to be concerned about. THey said she looks great and said they don't see any reason for the amniocentesis. They recommend I have another ultrasound to keep an eye on the white spot on the heart at about 25 weeks. You are such a brave and strong women!!!

Thanks for the info : ) I did the quad screen and it came back normal. Like i said, my marker was a short nasal bone. So I am waiting my amnio results, but my doctor said my chances lowered since the quad screen was normal. I will keep you posted. You family is beautiful.

hi erika. my name is ella. my results came back with 1:11 ratio of having a baby with DS. we are still thinking if we want to do an amnio. and the genetic counselor gave us a few weeks to think about it. it was indeed a very stressing and scary time for us. but i just pray and pray and i know that's the only thing we can do right now. and hope that everything will be ok. did you do an amnio also before? any inputs will be highly appreciated. we are having second thoughts for we have lost our first last april 2009. and there's a risk of M/C in doing an amnio. thanks again.

Added a few new pics of Xavier if anyone is interested. They will be the last 6 or 7 pics in my photobook. He's growing like a weed everyday. He has 8 teeth now and still getting more as we speak. He scoots and rolls all over the house but still hasn't started crawling yet. I told my husband I think he's just lazy! He still does not sleep through the night though which has become rather frustrating. Not to say we don't have an occasional surprise night where he sleeps all the way through but they are very few. Oh well, what can we do? All in all, he's coming into his own, showing his little attitudes and all. We are gonna have a handful once he does start crawling and walking, omg! He really is a joy though, the best part of my day for sure. Congrats to all u new mommies and tons of baby dust to those ttc. Love u all, xoxo.

How precious. I never got to have an ultrasound like that one. You could see exactly what your little guy would look like - that is so neat.
