June 16, 2008 - 35 weeks, 4 days
Regular appointment today.. All is well.. The baby measured right on schedule and weighed 5.5 lbs.. I am figuring that he will be about 7.5 lbs. at delivery.. I am experiencing discomfort in my low back, low abs, calf muscles, and feet.. but I know they are all normal, so I just deal with it.. Bryan freaks out when I say that my stomach hurts because he things it is labor related.. We had a baby shower June 1 and got a lot of stuff, but not much of the stuff on our registries that we needed/wanted.. I have another shower June 29, so hopefully people will buy more registry items.. At least we have the essentials and the nursery is done in case he does decide to make an early appearance.
May 19, 2008 - 31 weeks, 4 days
I have had two 4D ultrasounds since my last post. The first time Brandon covered his face, but we got to see his various body parts.. It was neat. The second time he was more cooperative and showed us his face. My mom asked the tech. if the babies ever open their eyes and all of a sudden he opened his eyes and mouth.. How Freaky?? My mom said he did it because she asked.. We will let her believe that if she wants.. Already a grandma's boy.. I had a small scan today and the baby weighed in at 3 lbs. 14 oz.. His head and femur measured right on with 32 weeks.. Hope he slows down the weight gain a bit now so that he isn't too big for delivery.
April 23, 2008 - 27 weeks, 6 days
Passed my glucose test this morning with flying colors. My appointment with the chiropractor also went well. I am having way less back pain and would recommend anyone with back pains to see a chiropractor. They can work wonders. Because of him I am able to continue teaching aerobics.
April 21, 2008 - 27 weeks, 4 days
I went to the doctor today and did not pass my glucose test. However, my appt. was for 2pm and I had eaten that day. NOTE: Schedule your glucose test appointment for first thing in the morning. That means I have to do a 3 hour tolerance test Wednesday morning. The baby was 2 lbs. 1oz., so he gained 9 oz. in 3 weeks. I now begin going to the doctor every other week, so my next appt. is May 5. I will get to have a 4d u/s at that appointment. I can't wait to see the little guy.
April 14, 2008 - 26 weeks, 4 days
I definitely had less pain this weekend in my back, but my left knee still hurts quite a bit. It has gotten better since seeing the chiropractor, so I will see what he has to say at 2pm today.
Everything went well at the Chiropractor today.. He popped my back and pushed my hips up again.. He said probably one more visit would help, so I am going back April 23.
April 11, 2008 - 26 weeks, 1 day
I went to a chiropractor today to try and get some relief from the lower back and left knee pain I am having.. I hope I don't have to live with this for the next three months.. I would like to not have to take any pain medication unless I am just in extreme pain because I don't want the baby to get anything that he doesn't need.. He had me lay down and my left leg was longer than my right, which meant my hips were not properly aligned.. I then laid on my side, bent my top leg and he pushed on each of my hips to straighten them out.. I go back on Monday to see if the alignment helped and if my hips are back out of position again.
April 9, 2008 - 25 weeks, 6 days
I went to the doctors office today because I am having pains from my lower left back down to my left knee. It has gotten to the point sometimes that I can't walk. They set me up to see a chiropractor Friday, which should be interesting. I inquired about being induced in July and we set the date for July 18, 2008. My due date based on my cycle was July 17.. My due date based on my 7 week u/s was July 23.. Friday the 18th just fit as a good day for the induction, so I have 100 days left.
March 31, 2008 - 24 weeks, 4 days
I had a check up today with Dr. Blanton. This was the first visit that I did not have a full ultrasound. It shortened my appointment time, but unfortunately I don't have any new pics of the baby to post this time. I got to see the baby on Dr. Blanton's small, portable ultrasound unit. He measured the baby's head and femur. The baby measured at 24 weeks and 3 days and weighed in at 1.5 pounds!! While we were watching the baby he had a big hiccup. It was neat to see him jump on the screen and feel it at the same time. He was sitting very low withhis head to my right and his legs to my left. He has really gained a lot of strength and lets me know it by kicking anytime I am still for even a minute. My next visit is April 21 (the day before my 26th b-day!!) and I am scheduled to do a glucose tolerance test to make sure I don't have gestational diabetes. So far all is normal for the baby and me. You can check out my journal entry titled Belly Pictures to see my most recent addition. I am definitely growing.
March 10, 2008 - 21 weeks, 4 days
We had another appointment today and got to see our growing baby boy again. It is amazing that he use to be microscopic and now he weighs a whole pound. During the ultrasound his heart rate was 149 beats per minute. The ultrasound tech did a complete anatomy scan to check all his vital organs and make sure everything was in the right place and growing. She pointed out his kidneys, bladder, stomach, heart chambers, spine and umbilical cord. She also took measurements of his head and thigh bone, and checked his face, feet, and hands. Everything was present and accounted for. She had a hard time getting some good pictures because the baby was so active. We got to watch him practice swallowing which was really neat to see him open his mouth. It was like he was telling us HI. She also couldn't get a picture of his boy parts because the cord was between his legs this time. All his measurements placed his development at 21 weeks and 3 days, which is just one day off from his due date being July 18. The doctors office also called about my blood work after my last appointment to let me know that the Quad screen for different potential complications was negative. I have gained about 10 pounds so far and my belly has really grown quite a bit this week. The next appointment is March 31.
February 21, 2008 -
Doctors office called today and said my blood work was negative for any abnormalities. Yeah - A healthy baby boy!
February 18, 2008 - 18 weeks, 4 days
We went to the doctor today for a check up and to confirm the sex of the baby. It is definitely going to be a boy. The heart rate was around 156bpm. The ultrasound tech. got a picture of his feet and his profile. My weight was 123 lbs., so I am slowly gaining. I also had to give 2 tubes of blood for what they call the Quad Screen test. It will determine the baby's chances of having down syndrome, spinal bifida, and two other problems. We won't know the results for at least a week. The doctor said if the baby does have spinal bifida they will send me to Atlanta to have surgery before the baby is 28 weeks. Amazing what they can do these days. I have been sick since Friday, February 8 with sinus problems. I went to the doctor Monday the 11th, but they couldn't give me much of anything except Allegra and cough medicine. I was in bed for 5 days. It was terrible. My next appt. is March 10 and we are scheduled to have an ultrasound to look at the baby's complete anatomy to make sure everything is in the right place.
January 28, 2008 - 15w, 4d
We had an ultrasound today that let us know the baby is a BOY! It took the nurse a little while of bouncing the baby around to get him to show us anything. It was neat to see how much he was moving around, but I still can't feel anything.. The heartrate was 157bpm.. I have gained a total of about 3 pounds so far, but I am sure that will change soon.. Now comes the difficult task of choosing a name that will stick with him for the rest of his life.. My next visit is in three weeks to get my triple screen test blood drawn mainly to make sure his spine is ok.
January 16, 2008
My husband Bryan and I are expecting our first baby. I am 15 weeks pregnant today. We have had a total of three ultrasounds so far and everything is going fine. I also found out that my blood type is A negative, which could be a risk to the baby later on. However, the doctor said I should be fine if I receive a shot of Rhogam at 28 weeks. We are scheduled for another ultrasound Monday, January 28 to find out the sex of the baby. We are sooo excited because it is driving us crazy not knowing. I don't know how women made it 9 months without knowing. I am just barely beginning to show, but I can still wear my regular clothes. Other people can't tell yet that I am expecting. My starting weight was 116 lbs., but I lost 1 1/2 lbs. at my last appointment due to nausea and "all day" sickness. My first trimester symptoms have started to fade slowly. Thank Goodness!!
Congrats to everyone. I love reading about other peoples experiences.
