Before you were conceived I wanted you. Before you were born I loved you. Before you were here an hour I would die for you. This is the miracle of love.

My name is Cheryl and I've been with my husband since I was 16 and we have been married since October, 2006. We decided to start trying to conceive in April '08 and in May '08 we were pregnant! Unfortunately I miscarried at 5 weeks. We were advised to wait 3 months before TTC again. We waited 3 months and on October 20th, 1 day before our 2 year wedding anniversary, we had a positive HPT! Yet another tragedy... when we went for our routine 8 week U/S and our baby only measured 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat. I had a missed miscarriage, we were shocked as everything seemed fine! 1 week later I had a D&C. It was the most challenging year of our life!

I am so glad it is a new year! It has already brought us another pregnancy blessing! On February 23rd we had a surprise positive pregnancy test, as we had only been trying a few weeks! So we will be due one week after our 3 year wedding anniversary! Thank-you God for giving us a THRID CHANCE!

P.S. Autumn is my favorite time of the year!

I totally understand the sleeping thing. First off don't beet yourself up, most parents I know have problems with their children and sleeping arrangements. I have 5 kids and frankly everyone is different, but eventually they do have to cry themselves to sleep so they can learn how to self sooth. However at this age it is soo hard, plus if he isn't sleeping well there is probably a cause. You might put him in a crib. All my children have liked real mattresses as opposed to the basinets and pack and plays. Lucas (my 7 week old) only sleeps well on his stomach. I know quite a few parents with kids like this, once I felt comfortable that he could move his head a bit I stopped worrying and he now is only getting up 1 to 2 times a night. Also is he gassy? That is usually why babies are having trouble relaxing (also why I think Lucas likes to sleep on his belly). You can try gas drops, gripe water, mylicon drops. At night I actually give Lucas gas drops before he eats that way they are attacking the bubbles as they come in, lol. You could also try putting him in the swing or carseat if he can sleep in those. There are no defined rules about sleeping but I do think it is easier to keep them out of your bed if you start early. Hope at least one of these suggestions helps and remember this is a very common problem most parents deal with this at some point so don't stress to much you will work it out!

Hey, girl! Sorry I've been MIA. We're headed to my OB this afternoon to be checked out for post partum depression. It's been a tough nine days. Liam is wonderful and adorable, and I love him to pieces, and Brian is the most amazing hubby in the world - he's doing EVERYTHING around the house. It makes me feel totally inept and like a terrible wife/mother because all I can do is feed Liam. I haven't managed to get out of my pajamas or yoga pants since we've been home. I need to get his pictures taken, need to update my birth story, need to post pictures, and I can't seem to do anything. I hope it gets better soon. I miss you girls.

I know it's so difficult when they cry but try to remember that crying is not going to do him any harm I know that sounds really harsh but sleeping with your little guy is dangerous. have you tried a bottle before bed it may help him to sleep a little longer I know when maddison is fussy and it seems to be getting more often. I swaddle her tight in her blanket and rock her till she falls asleep I find when she's wrapped up you can put her down withouther waking. best of luck cheryl you sound likr your just needing a bit of shut eye yoursrlf.

i forgot if u had said u breastfeed. but i had the same problem and if u do breast feed the best way i found is laying down feeding him. thats how jowell falls asleep every night. he's 3 1/2 months and if i dont do that he wont go to sleep and cry lol

I tried not to sleep with my baby but she has colic and will scream all night long off and on. Soooo, I feed her to sleep in my bed and she sleeps about 3 to 4 hrs and wakes to eat and then falls right back to sleep usually. I kicked hubby out of the bed and I put a pillow behind her back and she's kind of on her side. I put my head up towards her head so I won't roll over onto her in my sleep. I did this with all four of my kids when they were newborn. Once she gets over the colic she should sleep in her bassinet at night. Anyways, I would be scared to have her sleep on my chest though. Can you maybe put him beside you up by your head after he falls asleep?

Hi there wanted to comment on the sleeping on the chest thing, my son is now 9 weeks old and he wouldnt sleep either without being on my chest but then I would move him very lightly when he is very asleep and then cuddle him with blankets with a vibrating motion somehow that worked for him he still likes mommy the best but finally started falling asleep and sleeping in his lil bed well I hope I have helped have a good one try and sleep as much as possible I am still going through that lol

I don't even know what to suggest... Logan definitely prefers to be on our chest but he sleeps in his co-sleeper usually. How about your bouncer seat? I tend to sleep on the couch with him in his seat next to me pretty often when he won't sleep in his co-sleeper or maybe even on the nursing pillow?

I actually have the exact same problem with my little man... He won't sleep anywhere else then on top of me or beside me... Which is not ideal for any of us... If you hear any great suggestions, please let me know!... I hope u'r doin' great though, and are enjoyin' motherhood! I find it quite amazing, that something can be so challanging, and yet the best thing that has ever happend!.... Say hello to DJ from JJ! (My son )

hi hun, sorry to hear you are struggling a bit. Have you tried to swaddle DJ? sounds like he is a little scared at all the space he has now! lol. On Emilys swing, she has 'white noise' which is said to imitate the noise heard inside the womb, it always sends her off to sleep. I believe you can get CDs of this noise. Hope this helps x x

I'm having the same problem with Wesley. He won't sleep unless it's on my chest or in the crook of my arm. One thing I have found that works (on some nights...it's hit and miss) is putting him in his car seat. I have the seat latched into the stroller, so it's right at the height of the bed and the snugness of the cushion in the seat works like a charm. He can't STAND being swaddled, so this is the closest we can get to swaddling without swaddling. He sleeps in the car seat during the day as well. Our bassinet has pretty much become extinct.

DellaMarie - Sunday, 15 November
have you tried a toy with moms heartbeat instead of a clock? That works for me. I also use the swaddle blankets and the vibration on her pack and play. They work like a charm for me. With the swaddle blanket she sleeps like a rock. I have to wake her up so she can eat.
