I live in Grand Rapids, MI and have been here since last May. I grew up on lake Michigan, then left for six years that I spent between Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. I met my husband out there, and we decided to relocate so we could be closer to our families and for more affordable housing. We have been very happy here, though I will say the winter is a little long and cold (though very pretty). We started trying to get pregnant in the fall, and it took only two months. We have not had any complications, and the pregnancy has gone along very textbook. Right now I am 16 1/2 weeks. I am not really showing that much yet, which I should probably be happy for - though I am longing for more of a baby belly :) I don't think I have felt the baby move yet either. My doctor said both of these things are very typical of a first pregnancy. We got to hear the heartbeat again last Friday which was a nice reassurance since I am not feeling very pregnant right now. We currently have two countdowns going.... On 2/19 we leave for a last little trip together before we become parents. We are going to FL and taking a short cruise to the Bahamas. I am SO ready for a warm break! Then on 3/7 we go in for our next ultrasound and we really want to know what we are having. I think it's a boy even though I would really love to find out it is a girl. Of course, in the long run having a healthy baby is what is most important!

3/2/08

We had a good time on our trip, but I woke up very sick on the day we flew back. Now I've been sick for a whole week, uch. But, I am in good spirits anyhow since our u/s is this Friday. I can hardly wait to find out what this lil monkey is!!!!!

3/8/08

We found out we are having a girl yesterday!!! I was in shock and so happy - I had convinced myself this was a boy in here... Of course I went straight to the store and bought two little dresses :) I am so excited! I need to work a little more on names now so I can repost a baby name voting list..... Another fun detail is that my baby girl is going to be a Leo just like mommy!!! That means lots of fun, but lots of fire!!! Oh yah, and I finally felt my baby girl move the night before our u/s. Now I am feeling movement here and there - though it still feels pretty light. The placenta is currently in the front of my uterus, and I guess that can block the movement a little.... It's actually covering part of my cervix right now too - so I have to go back in for another u/s in 8 weeks to make sure it has moved up. Otherwise the baby would have to come by scheduled c-section. I have mixed feelings on that. But odds are, the placenta will move and nature will take its course :)

4/16/08

I am so excited - I am taking one last pre-baby trip and leave early on Friday morning. I am going back to Seattle for a few days. I haven't been back since we relocated from there to Michigan. Work has been so incredibly stressful and so I can hardly wait for a few days of no work and all play! I just know that time is going to fly after I get back. We are going to start work on the nursery, and I'll be plugging away in the third trimester!

5/5/08

Well, the trip to Seattle went really well. It was brief and we had a ton of people to see! I do really miss that city - but with spring finally here in Michigan it is getting so nice here... There are pros and cons to both locations :) Once again I came home with a really nasty cold. My doctor finally gave me a five day antibiotic so I am almost done with that. The congestion has been a real pain on top of losing breath capacity anyhow! We had another ultrasound last Friday at 28 weeks which was fantastic. We got to see little Madeline June moving around. The placenta has moved out of the way which is the biggest thing they needed to check - so we can progess with doing a vaginal birth (I think that's good)!

Hay just checking in to see how your doing? I see from your message from mjeans that your little one has arrived!!!!! Would love to hear all about it when you have 5. Take care and speak soon xxxx

Congratulations to you and your family and welcome Madeline!!!! Thanks for sharing your 'birthing journey'...how much did she weigh? I anticipate our delivery to be similar as our little guy is also presenting posterior...I wish I had more time to ask you for pointers?...epidural maybe? If we don't have him tonight we are scheduled for induction w/cirvadel tomorrow morning and by then I am confident we'll be ready to go...had my membranes swiped twice last week and although we had a bout of false labour and times during each day where I was having contractions, they peeter'd out and did not remain consistent. Anyhoo...I'm getting excited now that regardless we are getting induced tomorrow and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all is speedy and rolls along as it should...thanks for keeping in touch...I look forward to sharing 'labour stories and baby progress'...keep smiling and stay in touch...michelle

Girl...at least you are dilated! We are not...nor have we made any progress, so much like yourself, we patiently wait...is there such a thing at 10mos preggers?

We too are due tomorrow and have an appointment with our regular Dr. on Tuesday to figure out if we've made any progress...then we have an appointment with a specialist as the baby is measuring big 9lbs+ so, yet again never a dull moment...I know this child will come when he is good and ready and each night I go to bed visualizing my water breaking and being in labour...I know its not far off, I'm just starting to 'crave' not food, but crave no water retention, crave the feeling that I am 35lbs lighter (as that's how much I've gained), crave the ability to tie my own shoes...you know the simple things in life that we generally take for granted. Oh well...such small prices to pay to welcome a happy healthy baby in to the world...I'll be watching your space for an update!!!! and sending you a sprinkling of labour dust for a speedy delivery!!!

Glad you're hanging in there...your little girl seems to like it in her 'living womb' as does my boy with no plans to 'head out' anytime soon...lol At least you have made some progress...we are still 'closed' with floating head and presenting face up or 'posterior'...not ideal for labouring at this point, so we wait and I have no doubt will wait beyond our due date on Monday...c'est la vie. Come July 31st the Dr. will attempt to 'sweep my membranes' with the hopes that 'brings on labour'...been there done that with my first and it worked a charm so I figure that's something to reasonably shoot for, although who knows? This little man has a mind of his own already adn may opt for an early appearance? That would be a nice surprise. I am enjoying reading the birth stories of all the ladies who we've chatted with to this point during pregnancy and I know we'll do the same once the 'finishing touches' are done with our little ones. Thinking about you and sending *labour dust* for a speedy delivery! michelle

THANKS SO MUCH!!! My mom is doing better. My parents got their power back after not having it for a little over two days. My mom was down to only having 1 tank of oxygen. There are so many familys that lost so much. I hope to take some pictures and post them so you guys can see. I'm to thankful that my family is ok now. I hope to get on often so I can catch up on everything. CONGRATS to those of you that have had your little ones and I thinks its great that I have such awsome friends on this site. THANKS again. I'm trying to catch up on all my messages. Sorry I havn't been on much nor for very long we had a really bad wind storm and my parents still don't have power. Ours has been working its been an off and on thing. It might be a little while when I can sit down and catch up but I will do my best. Please keep my mom in your prayers her name is Mary and she's on oxygen and is running low and she needs power and soon. Alot of homes had alot of damage from the 90 mph winds we had MANY trees have been up rooted.

I thought you would be one of the girls to have a baby this weekend, I can't believe you are still here! Though, I thought yesterday would be my day, but nope! Ahhh, I just need to be more patient :) Here's to hoping, it's still the weekend!

lol that's funny. Tell him it's all out now lol. Good luck with walking! I think about walking but it hurts when I do. I get these sharp pains from my stomach to my pelvis from the babies head....so that's all I do is think about it lol. Good luck!!! Let me know how it goes.

number2intheoven - Thursday, 10 July
lol I am totally in the same boat as you. I am 70% effaced and dilated 3-4 cm as of yesterday. No contractions today. I'm totally having sex either tonight or tomorrow though...worked with my first :)

carolynjh - Thursday, 10 July
It's really good that you are that far dilated! You get the epidural at 6, so hey, you should be able to get it as soon as you get to the hospital! Anywho, I promise, since you are so far dilated already, walking will really help, it got my first labor going for sure!

molly2416 - Sunday, 29 June
I just got some new pictures up of the girls and of our new driveway. I'm now getting ready to take down the chicken wall paper that's in our Kitchen. Hopefully we can paint it in a few weeks as soon as I get it down. Hope all is good and hope to talk to you soon!!!
