I am a 24 year old elementary school teacher from New York City. My husband and I have been together for 7.7 years, married for 3.2 years, and are expecting our first child on August 18, 2008 after over a year of trying!
It has already been a roller coaster ride for us. I spotted twice in my first trimester, and found out I have an increased risk (1 in 85 or 1%) of having a child with Trisomy 18. Normally, the odds are about 0.02%. We are counting on detailed ultrasounds, not amnio, to help us see that our child is just fine. We are going with the our-child-is-99%-healthy attitude first!

hi - ya most hospitals won't tell you - there is one here that will, but i was sent elsewhere for my ultrasound - so the only other option was private - oh well, only a few more weeks to go! I have been feeling really good thanks, how about yourself? its just been this past week that my feet are starting to hurt more - lol - and i am not one to sit around, its hard - i always want to be moving and doing something!!

lol im hopin isabella comes asap, im not well at all 2day, woke up bout alf1 this mornin n had to run to the loo (which wasn't easy n very painful) n threw my guts up for bout an hr, martin was already woke up coz isabella kicked me that hard that it woke him up coz he had his hand on my bump, it woke us both up n thats wen i was sick, i was sick all day yday afternoon n jus not myself at all, he was proper worried, am at the hosp at 4 to see bout bein induced so am gonna tell them, i feel like death warmed up

I too am thinking of not going back after this one. I will have a 13 year old girl a 16 month old boy and a newborn, I feel has if my life is full at home let alone a new class. So far I have had no swelling. Do you see your doctor weekly now?

No not yet I know they have 1 planned for me from my church this coming Monday I wasn't supposed to know but they made it kind of obvious, and then I know my MIL is planning something and that 1 I don't know about haha lol, but yeah about the weight usually in the last few weeks your weight pretty much stays the same although I keep thinking the same thing about this baby being big as well I mean like i said I haven't gained much weight I finally hit 10 lbs total for the whole pregnancy but I feel that now is when I'm starting to gain weight rapidly so we'll see, how about you did you have a baby shower yet?

Well it is a little funny... My daughter didnt want to share her "birth month" (her birthday is August 27th). So we chose July 30th. If he comes then great... but worried about pushing him if he isnt ready. I just want a healthy baby boy. Are you hoping for another day in August? I was hoping for 8-8-08 :)

I have pregnancy induced hypertension. About four weeks ago they tired to reduce it with medication but dropped it too low and I was back 2 days later with breathing problems and a headache that made me sick. The Dr just told me to make it to week 37 for the safety of me and my little boy and I could pick a day in that week to deliver. Plus with being in my mid 30's the DR was taking that into account too. I don't know much about midwives the thoughts of using one never crossed my mind since both my babies were infertility babies and miracles in themselves. I just always assumed I was going to have some issues with the pregnancies so I chose a DR. Of course this pregnancy started off rough, my husband is military and the Army hospital refused to see me missed I was RH- and I almost lost this baby. When the ER got to me back home the Dr on staff told me I was going to miscarry and go home and come back when it happened. It was my DR here who found the problem and saved my baby’s life, so I have been happy with how close they monitor me. Many people go through pregnancies with out any trouble but I know reading a lot of the post here can have you scared to death. They had me scared delivering a baby at 35 (laugh). If you have questions ask your midwife, she should be able to answer anything that you have. I wish you all the best of luck and please let me know how your pregnancy progresses!

I gained over 40 lbs for my first which was my daughter and she was a big baby she was 9 lbs 3 oz but for this pregnancy I've only gained 9 lbs the whole pregnancy till now and the doc still thinks it might be that the baby is big thats why she wants to do a c-section, yeah 3 for me thats it I'm done I can't see myself going through all this again we weren't expecting this 3rd 1 at all I was on birth control for 3 years and when I found out I was already 3 months haha and I gotta say it has been like starting all over I mean I had nothing at home for a baby he have had to buy crib, car seat, the whole works again, we are very happy though for this little blessing, and hey I admire you for wanting more than 3 lol. I can't wait till next week so that I can find out on my U/S how much baby is weighing I am so anxious and of course time is going by so slowwwwwww ugh.

Hello ~ I have been feeling ok. Though I didn't put on all my weight till the last 4 weeks. I went to the dr today and my ultrasound shows him 6lbs 2oz. Right now they dont think I am going to go full term. How have you been feeling? Hope all is going well for you!

Oh, thanx.. I've been feeling really good. And really excited that I haven't gained much weight yet... with both my other kids, I gained 38lbs. With this one so far I've gained 8 so I'm deffinately ALL baby.

Hey how are you, I'm feeling OK I feel alot a pressure in pelvic area and back pain, my BH contractions have gotten stronger, and I can tell my belly has dropped so it feels like its gonna fall off any minute now lol other than that I'm just anxious to have the baby and have my body back and have the baby with me already, this is my 3rd and last baby so I'm trying to enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy but it's very hard to do so when we are feeling so unconfortable I had my other two babies at 38 weeks so I'm hopeing to go early with this 1 as well, the doc told me on my last visit that she is thinking of doing a c-section on this 1 because I tend to have big babies and for my 1st she was 9lbs 3oz and broke her collar bone as she was being delivered so I'm having another U/S next week and then the doc will decide for sure if I'll get a c-section or not depending on baby's weight I am very scared about the whole idea, but enough of me how are you feeling, how's it going with you.
